ex. Charlie Key
Eye visible sub-mm crystals of soddyite, which is very rare , especially so nicely isolated on matrix as this cluster is.
6 x 2.6 x 2.1 cm. An outstanding example of the rare uranium species soddyite, with distinct eye-visible crystals. Ex. Martin Zinn Collection.
5.7 x 3.7 x 2.0 cm. Superb, textbook quality soddyite crystals to 1 mm perched on matrix of microcrystalline bright yellow soddyite, also with acicular yellow needlelike crystals of swamboite.
4.2 x 3.0 x 2.2 cm. Superb, textbook-quality soddyite crystals to just about 1 mm perched on matrix of microcrystalline bright yellow soddyite and some minute acicular yellow needlelike crystals of swamboite.
7.5 x 7 x 5 cm. A large piece of typical matrix material from Swambo with hundreds perfect Soddyite crystals. Swambo is known to have produced the best Soddyite crystals in the world. This is a very good standard for the species. They where found during the prospecting in the late 1950s – early 1960s. A very colorful specimen with crystals in the 1-2 mm range.
8.5 x 7 x 6 cm. Here is a very fine specimen of Soddyite crystals associated with Curite crystals. Both of the minerals are covered with a thin layer of Heterogenite which gives a black color to a part of the specimen. This is typical for Shinkolobwe. The matrix is massive Curite. Shinkolobwe is the type locality for both Soddyite and Curite.
5.5 x 4.7 x 3.2 cm. Soddyite is a RARE uranium silicate and this showy, old-time piece features a very well-placed, 6 mm, cluster of prismatic, canary-yellow crystals defined by the paper arrow on matrix. More soddyite microcrystals are scattered on the front and one side of this excellent specimen. Ex. Bill Pinch and Bob Byers Collections and collected in the 1960s.
