This remarkable large specimen was one of the major smithsonites in the famous Schwethelm Collection, and was an important addition to the Sussman collection for its rich color and size both. The color is more deep red than most cobaltian smithsonite, and the condition is as pristine as you could expect in such a large piece. 12 x 9 x 4 cm
A major smithsonite specimen that is perhaps lacking in color intensity compared to the above (which is above average in any case), but makes up for it with sheer display drama of dozens of 2-cm-plus crystals, one atop another! The third large smithsonite of pink color flanking one of the Sussman's cases, it really stands out! 15 x 11 x 6 cm
Sharply elongated smithsonite crystals perched on a small bit of matrix. Ex Erik Louw who was a miner on the dioptase stope who traded extensively and accumulated one of the finest Tsumeb miniatures collections, purchased in entirety by the Sussmans in the late 1990's. 4 x 2.1 x 1 cm
Smithsonite crystals to 1.8 cm in size arranged around a central cavity/vug. The crystals have a rich purplish-pink color to them, and are translucent. 10 x 6 x 5.5 cm
This specimen features pale pink cobaltian smithsonite crystals to 2 cm in size, arranged nicely on galena matrix! The piece is somewhat better in person as the crystals are reflective and make the shots look over-lit. In person, the piece has a pleasing pink color that is better than shown. This is a super specimen for the price, because of the large size, sharp form, and translucency of the crystals, as well as the overall 3-dimensional aesthetics. Comes with custom-made lucite display base 8 x 4.5 x 4 cm
Pink crystals to 3 cm of smithsonite. 5.5 x 4 x 4 cm
A cabinet-sized very 3-dimensional specimen of a plate of rock matrix completely carpeted by complexly crystallized multifaceted cuprian smithsonite xls. they are individually small, altogether very pretty. The carpet wraps around sides and top. Large cu-smiths are rare, as you know, and this one is in pretty good shape with just one ding in the lower-front of the front face, but otherwise undamaged on that face 12 x 10 x 3.75 cm
Sparkling druse of small crystals of light-sea-blue-green smithsonite coating one side of a cluster of cerussites. Ex Zweibels in the 1970's, who sold it to Marion Stuart (the Carnation Milk heiress), and then the Sussmans. 6.5 x 5 x 3 cm
Marshall and Charlotte bought this as much for it being a relative bargain, I think, as for the unusual association with dolomite, which liberally coats the backside. They liked weird associations. However, since the knob isn't complete all around, you get a relative deal on a good disaply-sized cu-smithsonite since it still looks great from the front! Pristine and sparkly specimen. 6 x 5 x 5 cm
Blue-green smithsonite. Ex Zweibels; Sussmans. 10 x 9 x 7.5 cm
Thousands of bright, sugary, drusy smithsonite crystals of intense lime green color, completely carpeting a 3-dimensional matrix! 14 x 13 x 4 cm
A magnificent of blue-green smithsonite. 12 x 7 x 5 cm
A showy example of crystallized blue-green smithsonite, in the form of sharp 5-6 mm rhombs perched on contrasting dolomite. Ex Charlie Key. 8 x 6 x 5 cm
Brilliant cerussite twins sprinkled with naturally-lustrous, sugary, blue-green smithsonite on a sparkling matrix of drusy mottramite. 10 x 9 x 4 cm
A sharp specimen with unusually isolated and discrete crystals of lime-green cuprian smithsonite. Ex. Francis Edwards Collection, mediated through the Zweibels in 1993. 7 x 5 x 4.5 cm
