A CLASSIC, OLD-TIME Japanese specimen of lustrous, leaf silver on massive sulfide matrix with quartz from the Omidani Mine. Ex Richard Hauck Collection. 5.5 x 5.1 x 3.4 cm
An EXCELLENT and AESTHETIC miniature of acanthite from the MAJOR MOROCCAN find shown at the 2005 St. Marie Show in France. The piece consists of medium lustre, etched, octohedral acanthite crystals to 1.6 cm WITH a few silver wires. These acanthites come from the Imiter Mine in the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Seasoned European collectors liken these pieces to classic Freiberg acanthite, which were never common. Many collectors and dealers expect these to become an instant classic. 4.1 x 3.0 x 1.8 cm
An old Canadian silver specimen, showing fine crystallization. 3.0 x 2.1 x 1.9 cm
A wonderful patina and a double helix pattern highlight this oldtime silver from Germany. A bit of matrix at the base guarantees that this specimen is old and authentic. This is also one o fthe more elegant examples for its size range, that I have seen, and the stark curvature makes it dramatic beyond its size, in a case 7.6 x 1.8 x 0.9 cm
This elegant miniature features traditional Kongsberg ropey silver perched on and around a stepped cluster of superb, lustrous acanthite crystals! Acanthite of such quality is EXTREMELY rare for the locale, and especially uncommon in association with beautiful rope silver. This piece comes out of an old collection, from Australia. 4 x 2.6 x 1.9 cm
They call this one "the medusa" for obvious reasons! This is an oustanding, massive, terribly dramatic example of the classic old European silvers which made Saxony so wealthy! This speicmen was sold to Ed in the early 1990s, and actually sold with part of his previous collection. He got it back later! It is pristine and complete all around and consists of THICK ropes and wires around a central core of native arsenic and silver ore 8.8 x 5.7 x 3.8 cm
This venerable old poly-metallic deposit, especially famous for its mimetite specimens, has also produced this fine, delicate, spinel twinned, silvers. This is a super, rather large example of the classic habit from the mine, and a beautiful spire of crystals shooting off of a centrla spinel twin. 5.1 x 1.6 x 1.2 cm
An exceptionally elegant specimen of this classic combo! Silver from Kongsberg is already rare enough in good form, but the most treasured pieces are associated with good calcite, for contrast and style! This is a superb matrix piece with unusual elegance and form. It has thick ropy silver wires to 1 cm thick, and can be displayed any number of ways, pretty much from all sides upsidedown or rightside up , with equal ability. 6.9 X 4.5 X 1.6 cm
A BEAUTIFUL, delicate filagree of silver wires from Freiberg, Germany. This is a CLASSIC, OLD-TIME specimen. 3.3 x 2.2 x 0.9 cm
A RARE, EXCELLENT and SHOWY silver wire specimen from Honduras!! Lustrous to tarnished, curved silver wires are richly scattered on the vuggy matrix of this very fine old-timer. Many of the wires have a fine patina. Honduras silver specimens are VERY SELDOM seen on the market and this is choice material. 6.1 x 5.7 x 5.2 cm
Excellent thumbnail silver from the best silver-producing area in the U.S. While most silver crystals are quite crude, this specimen has crystals which are twinned and fairly well formed. The crystals have a soft grey patina and display very nicely. These Michigan silvers are quite old, most coming out of the ground prior to the start of the 1900’s. 2.8 x 1.7 x 0.9 cm
Another classic silver from the upper peninsula area of Michigan! This one is an extremely rare specimen of four very distinct , isolated silver crystals on matrix. Matrix specimens of silver are the hardest to find from the mines in Michigan. In fact, this is one of the few I have ever seen which have actual matrix and not a matrix of massive silver or copper. This specimen is very old, with most having come out of the mines in the mid to late 1800’s. The crystals are well formed and have a nice colorful patina. Really a very uncommon silver. 6.2 x 4.6 x 3.2 cm
9.6 x 5.0 x 2.0 cm. This specimen, a true old-timer, is a solid mass of vein silver with minor associated copper on the back side. It was first brought to the states in 1890 by top US dealer A.E. Foote and it then went to of one of America’s greatest collectors, George Vaux (and retains his label as you see, with date on back). This is a very rich and hefty silver specimen for the locale, by old or modern standards. Ex. Richard Hauck Collection.
Sorry the camera makes it look more like copper than silver, but this really IS an old Batopilas silver - SOLID silver, in fact, with no matrix - an intricate lacework of little crystals. A rich mini from one of the worlds most famous silver localities! 3.1 x 3.1 x 0.9 cm
An EXCEPTIONALLY RICH and RARE specimen of crystallized silver in granular quartz from the Atacama Region of Chile. This piece has both silver crystals and wires. This fine, old-timer comes with three labels. Rich and heavy for the size at 122 grams (4 ounces so almost solid silver here)! Ex Edna Doughty and Richard Hauck Collections. 6.3 x 4.1 x 2.5 cm
