3.7 x 2.0 x 1.4 cm (largest). A beautiful, aesthetic and contrasting pair of spinel-twinned silver miniatures from the early 1980s finds at the New Nevada Mine at Batopilas, Mexico. The piece on the left is a solid matte of intricate, herringbone-patterned, silver crystals. The spinel-twins have a super patina, with iridescence. The classic specimen on the right features beautifully isolated silver "feathers" etched out of the enclosing snow-white calcite. The silvers also exhibit a nice patina with iridescence. A distinctive and excellent pair of Batopilas silvers.

A SPECTACULAR herringbone and arborescent silver of spinel-twinned crystals with a bit of calcite from the Batopilas Mine of Mexico. Great aesthetics. Front and back views are shown. SUPERB aesthetic specimen from the A. Buranek collection. I received a small batch of these old treasures recently after one of his sons sold them off. Mexican silver of this quality (as with the others put into the auctions over the ast few weeks) is unavailable these days. 3.6 x 2.4 x 1.5 cm

An attractive cluster with loose silver wires wrapped around each other and a mass of massive galena. Quite rare and elegant for the locality! 2 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm

Silver from South Lorrain Township, Cobalt-Gowganda region, Timiskaming District, Ontario, Canada [db_pics/mdpics/MD-20570a.jpg]

An elegant, thick silver wire from this famous Canadian locality, terminating in a loop-de-loop of intricate swirls. The bottom is also terminated!. This is an unusually large and thick wire silver specimen for the locality (robust, not fragile!). They are always much cheaper compared to similar-sized German and Kongsberg wires, though they look pretty much the same to my eye. Still, this is older material and getting harder and harder to obtain. Beyond that, this is a particularly elegant silver from any locale. 4 cm tall

2.0 x 1.2 x 0.9 cm. A fine, historic and old-time thumbnail of wire silver with acanthite from the mines of Kongsberg, Norway. This piece has curved wires at the top and looks like an elegant, 19th century, feathered hat on a lady. Ex. Irv Brown Collection.

Thumbnail. The parallel-growth silver crystals on this thumbnail of wire silver with acanthite from the mines of Kongsberg, Norway, remind me of a very weathered, hand hewn, wooden plank or board in a fence. The scattered calcite on the "plank" is a nice accent. Ex. Irv Brown Collection.

6.4 x 4.6 x 0.6 cm. Kongsberg silver specimens are not as rare as we would often like to think. However, Kongsberg silvers with such character, and such intricate curling for the size, with calcite association no less...this is not so common. The lustrous, bright calcite crystals provide a contrast and an accent both, helping to give this piece a bit of life and 3-dimensionality because the eye tries to place them "on the tree" in 3 dimensions. Ex. Kevin Ward Collection.

6.2 x 4.6 x 4.4 cm. A superb, super rich and fat specimen loaded with thick nests of spinel-twinned silver crystals on calcite from the early 1980s finds at the New Nevada Mine at Batopilas, Mexico. Most silvers from this find were in very thin calcite veins, so this one is exceptional in its thickness. The fat, isolated, spinel spear-point is 1.6 cm. Ex. Dave Stoudt Collection and purchased in 2003.

A sharp silver miniature with extremely sharp crystals sticking out from a central stalk. Complete all around, except on the back side where it is contacted. Amazingly, it stands on its own, balanced by the crystals at its base! This is a very 3-dimensional piece. From the thumbnail/mini suite of Gene Meieran's native elements collection, though originally obtained by him in trade from the Seaman Museum. Weight = 26 grams 4 x 2.6 x 2 cm

A sharp silver thumbnail with brilliant color and excellent, sharply-TWINNED crystals to 2 cm in size. This is a VERY RARE TWINNING FOR SILVER and this is a piece of exceptional quality, as well, which is complete all around and thus displayable from any angle. I've not seen the like for sale. This is a very 3-dimensional specimen! From the thumbnail/mini suite of Gene Meieran's native elements collection, though originally obtained by him in trade from the Seaman Museum. Weight = 15 grams 2.6 x 2 x 1.25 cm

A sharp silver thumbnail with brilliant color and excellent, sharply-terminated crystals to 2 cm in size. This is a very 3-dimensional piece that is good from all sides and complete all around. Top row shows "front" and second row shows " back" though each side is really nice on its own. From the thumbnail/mini suite of Gene Meieran's native elements collection, though originally obtained by him in trade from the Seaman Museum. Weight = 14 grams. WOW! It is so hard to find a truly KILLER silver thumbnail, rather than just a "small" silver. This is, in every sense of the word, a smoker with superb crystallization and excellent balance and aesthetics independent of overall size. Front and back are shown. 3 x 2.1 x 0.6 cm

WOW! THIS is truly an impressive Michigan silver! It has been owened by several of the great native-element collectors of our time in Scott and Ed (who sold/traded it to me recently) . The piece is good on BOTH sides, really, and shows superb crystallization from top to bottom! It has a multitoned, bright NATURAL PATINA to it, and has not been chemically cleaned. Comes with a hardened hobby-clay base so it will stand on its own, made by Ed in his kitchen oven. Michigan silvers of any quality in this size are simply NOT readily available on the market and this is one of a very few cabinet silvers I have seen for a relatively reasonable price range (say, under 20-25k)that has ever appealed to me in the least (and it appeals a lot more than "least", too!). 9.5 x 5.5 x 2.5 cm
