4ZGA36 - Serandite with Aegerine - $ 5500 SOLD
Mont St Hilaire, Quebec, Canada
small cabinet, 6.2 x 5.5 x 3.9 cm

Sorry, we have no images of this specimen at present.

This gorgeous specimen is one of the more sculptural and dramatic serandite clusters that I have seen for sale recently, and really just stands out in the case. Note that the crystals are translucent when backlit well. Though there is some contact damage to peripheral crystals and to the aegerines, the 3 major upright crystals are all intact and complete all around. The piece is valued for the quality of the mineral, though, as well as its overall beauty - and I think quite reasonably compared to the going rates I have seen on the very few other serandite clusters of any importance that have been on the market recently (and I handled several of them myself). This is an underappreciated species, to my reckoning, and long after MSH closes people will be considering it an essential part of any fine collection because of the beauty and rarity.

Serandite - Mont St. Hilaire, Quebec

One of the best thumbnail examples of this material I have ever seen! Complete and perfect all around! It is exquisite and has the best salmon-pink color (not quite as red as shown). More importantly, it has super LUSTER, which is really rare on serandite; AND good translucency when backlit.

This alkali massif has produced the finest serandite crystals anywhere in the the world. When in combo with other species, they are amazing pieces...This specimen features 3 cm salmon color, lustrous, serandite surrounded by white natrolite crystals, the best of which is perched on top and measures over 1 cm in length. Just a neat combo piece!

GEM11-43 - Serandite - $ 1875 SOLD

Serandite - Mt St Hilaire, Quebec, Canada

An important rare collector's gem! Serandite is almost never seen as a faceted stone, and when it is cut the result is typically a stone that is translucent at best. This rectangle-cut beauty is impressive for the rich orange color (some call it "salmon flesh"), excellent size for the species and most importantly... it is transparent! Superb for a collection of top grade rarities. The rough for this stone, based on color and lustre, is from a very small number of pockets found in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It is unique to this locale. Classic material, and an irreplaceable stone in the market today. Cut by Jay Medici.

Serandite with Analcime and Aegerine - Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, Canada

Very attractive combination specimen with a terrific Serandite crystal as the centerpiece. This crystal is an amazing 3.6 cm on edge, 1.2 cm thick, and has the classic deep salmon-flesh color and lustre. The lustrous Aegerine crystal along one side is 2 cm long, and the Analcime crystals do exhibit some well-defined crystal faces. This specimen is from the famous pockets of late 1976, with this distinct combination of balancing analcime! There is some minute edge wear not visible at first as you can see, but considering the overall quality and importance of this specimen as an aesthetic miniature, it is minimal.

MCW1 - Serandite - $ 900 SOLD
Mont St. Hilaire, Quebec, Canada
miniature, 4.3 x 2.6 x 1.8 cm

Sorry, we have no images of this specimen at present.

A truly superb miniature with excellent color and lustre, that is also complete all around. Note also how well-formed the unusually sharp the stepped terminations are! Only a very few specimens had such sharp form, and those usually have dull lustre at the termination (though not this one! it is a little dark and brown in spots but does have lustre). Front, back, and sides are shown so you can see it is complete. Note also the very good translucency when backlit (bottom panel). The little white dot is a small analcime crystal. This is an underappreciated species, to my reckoning, and long after MSH closes people will be considering it an essential part of any fine collection because of the beauty and rarity

MCW2 - Serandite - $ 1450
Mont St. Hilaire, Quebec, Canada
miniature, 4.3 x 3.0 x 2.5 cm

Sorry, we have no images of this specimen at present.

A truly superb miniature with TOP color and TOP lustre, that is also complete all around. Note also how well-formed the unusually sharp termination is! Only a very few specimens had such sharp form, and those usually have dull lustre at the termination (though not this one!). Moreover, the piece is given a bit of character and color contrast by the association of a 1.8-cm stark white analcime crystal on the side, making it one of the better miniatures I have seen for sale in years. Front, back, and sides are shown so you can see it is complete. Note also the very good translucency when backlit (bottom panel). This is an underappreciated species, to my reckoning, and long after MSH closes people will be considering it an essential part of any fine collection because of the beauty and rarity

MCW5 - Serandite w/ Polylithionite - $ 145 SOLD
Mont St. Hilaire, Quebec, Canada
thumbnail, 2.5 x 2.3 x 1.9 cm

A very cute specimen with an unusually sheen to the serandite, somewhat shimmery in appearance. The poly makes a nice accent! Ex Marcelle and Charles Weber Collection

This alkali massif has produced an incredible number of uncommon to very rare minerals. Among the world’s best are leifite and serandite which were found together in a famous pocket in the late 1980’s. This matrix specimen is highlighted by translucent, salmon colored, serandite crystals to .5 cm across which are topped by spheroidal aggregates of lustrous, ivory colored leifite, to 2.5 cm across. This is among the more aesthetic of large leifite specimens I have seen and has a huge amount of this rare species present in significantly good crystals.

NEX55 - Rhodochrosite ps. Serandite with Polylithionite - $ 350 SOLD

A very elegant example of rhodochrosite having replaced serandite, a type of pseudomorph which can occur only at this one locality in the world. Most such specimens are, frankly, pretty horrible - they tend to be jumbly and incomplete, and somewhat unaesthetic overall, from this pocket. The fidelity of the replacement at the terminations is often poor. This is, for the size, one of the best I have seen in that it has some aesthetics and is not as corrroded as most seem to be. The association with bright polylithionite sets off the terminations nicely!

This remarkable, colorful, dramatic combination specimen was collected by Gilles Haineult and also a surprise to me at the show, in that I had thought all good ones from this pocket long sold. Moreover, I have never had one with such large leifite clusters ON contrasting serandite, nor have i seen such a fine specimen for sale with any dealership. The cluster shown in the closeup is 2.5 cm across! (that view is actually of the back left side of the specimen as shown in the whole photo). I think most people could agree that this particular pocket produced best of species for the mineral in terms of crystal size and aggregate size, and so to have a matrix example of such quality is rather significant.

This is a dramatic, arborescent cluster of beautiful crystals with excellent color. It is complete on all faces except for natural contact around the backside. It has fine color, though not quite as red as it shows on my screen (more a classic salmon pink, in person - quite nice but not red-orange as it sorta looks). One of the more elegant miniatures I have handled, as most are just singles at this size range. From the noted miniatures collection of my friend George Holloway SF56 - Serandite - $850 rochester03-003 Mont St. Hilaire, Quebec, Canada ex. George Holloway Collection Miniature, 4 x 3.5 x 2 cm Another exceptional serandite, this one with the best lustre you can ask for and color that is deeper and more intense than usual, as you can see. It is also somewhat translucent. In person, it is simply GORGEOUS and stands out from the crowd even of pretty good serandites with that extra "oomph" of quality. One of the more elegant miniatures I have handled, as most are just singles at this size range. From the noted miniatures collection of my friend George Holloway

Serandite-associated specimens of this quality were few, and this is somewhat better in person, as well. Xls to 6mm.
