8.5 x 7.0 x 3.0 cm. Senegalite is an ULTRA-RARE aluminum phosphate found in only two localities worldwide and this piece is from the Type Locality in Senegal. This super-rich and showy specimen is from a very recent rediscovery of this rare species and features large boxwork-like cavities lined with senegalite and various phosphates species in a limonite gossan matrix.

8.6 x 4.8 x 4.7 cm. Senegalite is a very rare aluminum phosphate from this mine, the type locality for the species (in 1976). This is a particularly rich specimen with large pockets of crystals.

RARE08-2-28 - Senegalite - $ 850 Kouroudiako iron deposit (Kourou Diakouma), Tambacounda Region, Senegal (TYPE LOCALITY) small cabinet, 8.6 x 4.8 x 4.7 cm
Senegalite is a very rare alunimum phosphate, seldom seen except in occasional small pockets from this mine, the type locality for the species (in 1976). Other than one freak find in Brazil, this seems to be the ONLY source for good crystalline senegalite, and its been about 10 years since a large find came to market. Recently, though, a good bit was extracted and these make beautiful specimens, of a very interesting rare species. This is a particularly rich specimen in that they usually form in small vugs, and so large display faces are quite hard to come by.
