11.6 x 3.4 x 1.6 cm. This is just a fabulous quartz crystal - a large, TABULAR crystal, gemmy and undamaged, and complete all around. It is decorated with little schorl tourmalines, some of which penetrate the quartz crystal. The quartz has a slightly smoky color, and is wonderfully gemmy.

7.1 x 3.4 x 1.6 cm. Gorgeous spray of radiating Schorl crystals that form a wonderful fan. The luster of these beautiful crystals is incredible, and they merge into one great compound crystal. The fan even has a very distinct trigonal termination.

Fluorite, Schorl from Erongo Mountain, Usakos and Omaruru Districts, Erongo Region, Namibia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-120816b.jpg]

4.8 x 3 x 2.1 cm. Unusual and very striking set of gemmy clear Fluorites intergrown with Schorl crystals. The Fluorites, the largest of which is 2.1 cm in length, are cubes modified by the octahedron, and they all have the deep purple edging that Erongo Fluorites are famous for. The luster ranges from good to very good, and it allows one to see and enjoy the thin Schorl crystals that penetrate some of the Fluorites. There are also lustrous Schorls adjacent to the base of the Fluorites.

Beryl (Var: Aquamarine), Schorl from Erongo Mountain, Usakos and Omaruru Districts, Erongo Region, Namibia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-120819a.jpg]

7.3 x 6.5 x 5 cm. Fine combination piece of super-lustrous Schorl along with very lustrous and gemmy Aquas. The Aquas vary in quality, but the two largest (up to 1.5 x 1.2 cm) have nice color, mirror-like luster, and are at least 50% gemmy. The Schorls are beautiful. The luster is superb, and the uneven growth in a few places actually adds a nice contrast to the crystals, the largest of which is 5 cm and blocky in habit.

Schorl, Muscovite from Erongo Mountain, Usakos and Omaruru Districts, Erongo Region, Namibia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-120984a.jpg]

22.5 x 7 x 6.5 cm. The complex form of this massive single crystal is accented beautifully by the myriad Muscovites on the crystal. The luster is to be seen to be believed. The crystals faces have sharp, extremely fine striations. These cause a brilliant pearly luster that looks like a diffraction grating.

Spessartine, Schorl from Little Three Mine (Little 3), Ramona District, San Diego Co., California, USA [db_pics/mdpics/MD-121187a.jpg]

5.2 x 2.5 x 2.0 cm. There are two cool things about this specimen. The first, of course, is the lone, isolated spessartine garnet (0.7 m) that grew right on the side of the schorl. The second is that this is from the Little Three Mine, dear to many collectors hearts and from which very little material comes available on the market. The schorl is doubly-terminated and has good luster!

3.9 x 2.5 x 1.8 cm. A rare Pack Rat Mine specimen of a slightly smoky quartz crystal that has grown right around a schorl crystal and terminated in two peaks on either side! One of the schorl terminations is complete. Ex. Chuck Houser Collection.

10.2 x 10.2 x 6.5 cm. An INCREDIBLY FINE combination CABINET piece from Pakistan. A large, 5.6 x 4.0 cm, gemmy and lustrous, light-champagne-colored topaz crystal sits at a divergent angle to a 13.5 cm, water-clear, lightly frosted quartz crystal. The topaz has a wonderful, complex termination. The large crystals are beautifully accented by two, embedded schorl crystals and a bed of bladed, snow-white albite. Ex. Gene Meieran Collection.

If I had to pick one miniature for sheer pizzazz, this would be it. The specimen features a really fine aqua with deep color, excellent glassy lustre, and complete all around....but its those associations that obviously make it outstanding and visually unique! Never have I seen a miniature from here with such interesting and unusual aesthetics, because of its associations with schorl and quartz. This full miniature is complete all around! 5.2 x 4.1 x 2.7 cm

A GEM aquamarine about 2.5 cm long, perched in the side of a very sharp and lustrous schrol crystal - great contrast and stark symmetry make this piece have a lot of impact. 3 x 2.8 x 2.5 cm

This specimen is "elegant" in every sense. It features a slender but super quality aqua, 3.5 cm long, perched gently on a sharply angled microcline crystal decorated with schorl and fluorite. Just a really fine piece that stands out from the crowd of Erongo pieces! 4.1 x 3.8 x 2.8 cm

A stunning specimen with unusual contrast in that this top quality, gemy, glassy aqua cluster is perched smack dab in the middle of jet black schorl, rather than just associated with it as is normally the case. Out of thousands of Erongo pieces i have seen, i cannot recall another with quite such aspect. The contrast enhances the blue hue and also makes the aqua look like a jewel set in the rock, enhancing the damatic effect of the piece as a whole. 7.5 x 6.8 x 3.7 cm

A most unusual plate, like none others I have seen from here, with incredibly lustrous crystals that are unusually squat. They are all solidly interjoined and connected into a thin plate that is complete all around. 11.3 x 7.0 x 2.6 cm
