This is one of the larger and better crystallized California scheelites you are ever likely to see, and the crystal is complete all around. It is fluorescent white/yellow under SW/LW. 2.8 x 2.2 x 2.1 cm
A large, sharp, translucent scheelite crystal, 3.5 cm across, complete all around and with no damage or contacts. It is accented by smaller scheelite crystals, and muscovite. The crystal has a fine luster and very unusual yellow-orange color that is quite remarkable in that it stands out quite starkly from the "usual stuff" 7.1 x 4.9 x 4.1 cm
7.4 x 5.4 x 3.6 cm. This is an extremely rare, large crystal on matrix. It is of a size you seldom see for the classic locality. The crystal measures roughly 5 x 3 x 3 cm in size and sits nicely on matrix. It is not quite complete on one corner in back, and has some contact roughness as well on the rear, but it is superb from the front.
This material came out over 100 years ago, and is considered one of the most classic of East Coast "black uglies," quite hard to obtain today! This is one of the largest examples, and certainly the best and largest single crystal that I have seen for sale myself by a long run. It is remarkably complete, if a bit crude on some faces, all around. 4.6 x 3.9 x 3.7 cm
Scheelite from this deposit is fairly rare. However, scheelite on euhedral crystals of cassiterite making for a competition-quality miniature is rather more unusual, I'd say! This is from old finds and they were brought to market years ago - have not known of any recently mined material from here showing up for sale at least in the US. The scheelite crystal, which measures 3 cm, exhibits rich orange color and great luster. The largest cassiterite is 1.5 cm. The piece is CLEARLY distinct from Chinese material, in person, and is much more significant in terms of locality than a comparable Chinese miniature might be. 3.5 x 3 x 2.1 cm
Clear to frosted Fluorites perched beautifully on the Scheelite. Not only are the Fluorites partially gemmy, but they contain a sharp narrow purple zone and included needles of what may be Ferberite. 2.2.x 2 x 1.9 cm
There must be two dozen fine crystals of scheelite here, of the classic Yaogangxian color (which is hard to describe - a translucent brownish tone). One of the best Yaogangxian scheelites we have seen - really rich and fine! The crystals are on a matrix of muscovite, which has grown on a large ferberite crystal. The scheelites measure to 1.3 cm across. 6.3 x 5.8 x 3 cm
2.3 x 1.6 x 1.5 cm. This is a fine combination piece consisting of gemmy clear-to-purple Fluorite cubes (partially coated with drusy Quartz for accent) arranged enechelon along a pair of gemmy and highly lustrous Scheelite crystals. Very distinctive, not only for the aesthetics but for the location, as well. Ex. Marilyn Dodge Collection.
As the pics indicate, this has to be one of the very most aesthetic and balanced specimens of scheelite for the size range, and it is of superb quality and SHARP form in every way! The crystal is cm in size, and glows with color and vibrant lustre. it is 3-dimensional and exquisitely tipped. The contrasting CRYSTALLIZED pericline feldspar matrix makes this unique among so many I have seen on muscovite, and among a field of thousands this special quality really stands out (more pics coming shortly) 7 x 6 x 3.6 cm
Aesthetically perched on a matrix of colorless and gemmy muscovite crystals is a lustrous, rich orange, scheelite crystal, which measures 2 cm across. It is PERFECT all around and in its aesthetics as well, just as if you ordered it made to the best taste possible in a matrix scheelite! 5.1 x 4.5 x 2.8 cm
An exceedingly aesthetic specimen of sharp scheelite crystals on a stack of quartz crystals capped by a gemmy, doubly-terminated one. One one side of the stack of quartz crystals you can see an arsenopyrite crystal that the quartz has grown around. The bottom side is the contact, where you can see that the arsenopyrite is intergrown with chalcopyrite. The scheelites are the characteristic color for the Yaogangxian, a sort of caramel-grey. 8.5 x 6.7 x 5.7 cm
A wonderful association piece, this specimen features a sharp octahedral scheelite perched right on the termination (which is complete) of a ferberite crystal. The scheelite measures 1.4 cm across. Quite dramatic! 5.5 x 3.5 x 1.9cm
This is a really gorgeous scheelite with unusual red-orange color: unusual in that the red bit of the hue is very pronounced compared to normal "orange" scheelites from the locality. The crystals, to about an inch, have the best glassy lustre and rich color you could ask for. It is a stunning piece that refelects light every which way and just "glows" on a shelf! I cannot say that, amongst hundreds of scheelites, I have ever seen one quite like this. 7.1 x 5.1 x 3.9 cm
A cluster of sharp quartz crystals, decorated with a cluster of super-lustrous scheelites of the characteristic color for the Yaogangxian, as well as a ferberite. There is a ding on only one of the quartz crystals; all have their terminations. 10.7 x 7.4 x 5.4cm
For the Yaogangxian, this is a HUGE scheelite crystal! And, it is VERY sharp, and complete all around (the clean contact is on the back). This is the characteristic color for Yaogangxian scheelites NOT to be confused with the much mor ecommon and orange-colored Ping Wu scheelites from Sichuan. For THIS locality, and for Hunan Province, this is a MAJOR crystal of some import and stands far above most others from teh locale. The 3-dimensional crystal has wrapped itself around some quartz, and there are some smaller intergrown scheelites as well. 5 x 3.5 x 2.8 cm
