PSCAP-13 - Scapolite - $ 750
Darra-i-Pech, Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan

miniature, 3.2 x 3.0 x 3.0 cm
share specimen

Sorry, we have no images of this specimen at present.

A massively thick, rather large crystal for the find to have survived! This crystal has intense purple color, and very good lustre (better in person). it is translucent, though not transparent. It is pristine and complete all around without imperfection except only for a small natural contact , this on the back of one edge and out of sight. Impressive for the price , for the sheer color impact as well as symmetry.

THis piece has INTENSE purple color and good lustre, and is complete on one side and the termination leading down to the one edge you can see on the left photo has damage. It is also broken on the back. Still, for the price...its a lot of color and one good display angle.

An intensely purple, equant crystal with really strong color to it, good lustre, and overall good form. It has a slight bit of edge wear on the left edge (shown worse in the photo than in person), and a shallow natural contact on the right edge that is facing to the side and not very detracting, but a slight asymmetry nonetheless. Big and fat, though, this is like crystallized grape jelly the color is so intense!

A huge, fat, very purple crystal with unusual size for the find. It has intense purple color, is translucent, and is complete except for a very , very minor bit of edge wear hard to spot.

A large, intensely colored cluster of two intergrown crystals. This piece has VERY dramatic form, intense color near tops for the find, and is complete and well formed all around 360 degrees, except only for two very shallow, tiny dings on the tip - which I assure you do not detract visually at all as they are hard to spot and have to be seen at just the right angle to show at all, but i'd be remiss in not saying they were there. Still, a very impactful, dramatic display specimen i rate among the better pieces (if not the most expensive) in this pocket.

This is the largest crystal in good condition I was able to find, and it is amazingly impactful for the sheer size of royal purple crystal looking back at you from a case. The color is like grape jelly, as good as the best amerthyst from Uraguay. The crystal is remarkably complete all around 360 except for the most trivial micro-wear and a single very shallow ding that is hard to notice on the left edge only, and is fully terminated with a steep termination showing lustre and even more intense color. It is, I think, an important piece that is really going to stand out in a case.

A really stunning, displayable, steeply terminated crystal that has about the most intense color of all here, and also good gemminess to it in person. It is complete all around except for a very shallow cleave on the back edge and a slight continuation of that damage up to the back side of this steeply climbing termination. Frm the front, you cannot see that there is a ding in back, in other words, and it is VERY dramatic because of the combination of the steep pyramidal cap and the intensity of the color, like the best grape jelly.

A fat, very colorful, intensely purple crystal with a steep termination. It is complete all around save only a small contact on the left-rear edge and a very minor bit of edge wear around the front angles of the termination which is hard to spot til you go looking but nevertheless there (hence the lower price).

A sharp, extremely lustrous crystal with unusually good gemminess, and high lustre. It hs a composite of two adjoined crystals, and thus has a little more geometry than most here. Slight, very slight damage at the junction of the two on the right, but this is not as obvious in person as in the photo where we intentionally spotlighted that part. Makes a fine, representative thumbnail! The tradeoff here is gemminess and lustre for color.

This is the single most gemmy crystal I have, and it is a stunning display-quality thumbnail specimen as well. The piece is totally transparent, and has good color made a little less intense by the transparency as internal veils serve to magnify the color in other pieces. From the front (left-upper photo) as I would display it, you see a pristine display face. IN truth there is a very tiny, slight ding to the right, that is hard to spot in person and almost invisible. The rrest of the main crystal's termination is pristine and it all has extremely high glassy lustre too! The piece is complete then, all around 360, except for a small ding on one back face of the smaller attached crystal of this cluster.
