11.2 x 6.5 x 3.5 cm. Safflorite is an uncommon cobalt iron arsenide. A 1.3 cm curtain of silvery-bright, spongy safflorite microcrystals artfully rests in vuggy matrix with dark gray dyscrasite and etched milky quartz. The CABINET matrix is MOST UNUSUAL and SHOWY, being SOLID banded, botryoidal "allemontite". "Allemontite" is a RARE natural alloy of variable composition of arsenic and antimony. This is a VERY FINE combination piece from Pribram. Ex. Petr Ondrus and Josef Vajdak Collections. Vajdak is a noted Pribram specialist. This is, for what it is, a fine piece, valued by Josef quite highly.
A nicely-shaped, rich, old-time, polished ore specimen of safflorite, lollingite and rammelsbergite with quartz from the famous Andreasberg District of the Harz Mts, Germany. Safflorite, lollingite and rammelsbergite are cobalt, iron, nickel arsenides. This piece comes with two old labels. Ex Richard Hauck Collection. 4.5 x 4.0 x 2.0 cm

A dramatic, hefty specimen featuring thick wires of silver, that are now replaced by this rare cobalt-iron-nickel mineral species, safflorite. This is very likely an old piece from the middle 1900s or earlier, and came from the noted Cobalt silver collection of John Durkos, and then to collector Robert Hauck some time ago. While i have seen small examples, I have not had such a large and robust specimen before of this material. It is one of the least ugly of these historic specimens, as far as they go.
