3.5 x 3.1 x 2.5 cm. Sharp crystals to 2.5 mm, of lemon-yellow schoepite having replaced sharp bladed ruttherfordine crystals.
MD-201053 - Becquerelite, Studtite, Rutherfordine, Fourmarierite, Uranophane - - Archived Shinkolobwe Mine (Kasolo Mine), Shinkolobwe, Central area, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga (Shaba), Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaïre) small cabinet, 6.5 x 2.5 x 1.2 cm.
6.5 x 2.5 x 1.2 cm. A rare large plate of well-crystallized Becquerelite crystals up to 1.5 mm on a bed of Uranophane. Some small rosettes of Studtite are dispersed upon the Becquerelite. Some small red hexagonal Fourmarierite crystals are associated as well as beige Rutherfordine sprays. Collected at least 50 years ago.

A thin coating of yellowish rutherfordine completely covers a relatively large uraninite cube on this rare old treasure from the radioactive deposits that extend a bit into Tanzania, but is seldom accessible to collectors these days! Ex. Carl Davis Thumbnail Collection 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.2 cm

2.5 x 2.0 x 0.7 cm. Here we have a small specimen from the Shinkolobwe Mine which is richly covered with dark beige Rutherfordine crystal clusters in fan shaped form and yellow Uranophane. Crystallized Rutherfordine of this quality is known pretty much only from this mine. On both sides there are several well defined orange Billietite crystals up to 1.5 mm. Shinkolobwe is the Type Locality for Billietite, a mine that is closed now for decades.

4.0 x 3.1 x 3.0 cm. A colorful, rich, highly representative specimen of the classic Schoepite pseudomorph after Rutherfordine from the Musonoi mine. It consists of very small (1 mm ) crystal clusters of a canary yellow colour. This specimen was recovered during the removal of the U-dump in the early 1990’s. Musonoi has ceased producing minerals since then.

4.5 x 2.4 x 2.7 cm. A very good example of this classic mineral from the Musonoi Mine. Most specimens are TN’s but this is a larger size. Note the nicely formed crystals where the inner core of Rutherfordine can still be seen. This specimen was recovered during the removal of the U-dump in the early 1990’s. Musonoi has ceased producing minerals since then. Nothing has come out of Katanga for more than 15 years, except for Malachite and Chrysocolla.
