D10-54 - Raspite - $ 1100 SOLD Broken Hill Proprietary Mine, Broken Hill, Yancowinna Co., New South Wales, Australia (TYPE LOCALITY) miniature, 5 x 3 x 3 cm ex. Al Ordway
An extraordinarily rich specimen of the extremely rare tungstate raspite, with brilliently lustrous, gemmy, bright crystals to 3 mm perched on a solid matrix. MOST crystals are undamaged, though some broken ones are admixed. The larger orange platy crystals are stolzite. This vug is largely protected by the 3-dimensional curve of the piece. It is a lot of concentrated raspite in one place. Some crystals, I think, are twinned.

RICE-03 - Raspite and Stolzite - $ 250 SOLD Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia small cabinet, 6.1 x 4.3 x 4.0 cm ex. Rice Northwest Museum
This rich specimen has a display face featuring about half a dozen SHARP AND GEMMY stolzite crystals, to 5 mm, of which 2 are pristine and others are damaged. Several raspite crystals, to 5mm , are in association : one is particularly superb and intergrown with a stolzite. So admittedly there is some damage, some broken crystals, but also several intact and freestanding as you seldom see (at least half a dozen good crystals of each species!). Price has been thus adjusted accordingly. It is overall one of the richer specimens of this classic combination I have seen, from the early 1900's. I have not had a specimen of either species here in ages, and to get the classic combo, on the same specimen, is a very treasured find! For the piece to be somewhat displayable as a pretty object, more so.

It is overall one of the richer specimens of this classic combination I have seen, from the early 1900's. TUC10-372 - Raspite with Stolzite (type locality) - $ 4500 SOLD Proprietary Mine, Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia small cabinet, 9.3 x 6.3 x 3.5 cm
Raspite is an extremely rare species, a dimorph of Stolzite. This is the type locality for the species. This particular specimen is a large, beautiful display piece with butterscotch-yellow crystals of stolzite (to 8mm) all over its display face - they are so gemmy and squarish that they look like yellow wulfenite! This is an EXCELLENT display piece for the species, for stolzite. But even more rare, and more valuable here, are the large associated raspite crystals. The doublet crystal , perhaps twinned, is standing vertically exposed and is 1.2 cm long! It is decorated with litlte stolzites for color contrast. A second, lesser raspite cluster exists elsewhere on the specimen. For the species, this is one of the best I have known of for sale. It is from the old workings, undoubtedly, at this old mine. I am told it should have been found prior to the 1950s. Recently the specimen was in the collection of tungstate collector Stretch Young, of Austin, Texas. It came from an old collection.
