4.0 x 2.6 x 1.6 cm. Zanazziite is a hydrated calcium magnesium iron aluminum beryllium phosphate and some of the crystals of this species are found at this locality. This piece has a scattering of large, semi lustrous, well-formed, translucent, green spheroids of the rare phosphate Zanazziite which are sitting on gem Rose Quartz crystal matrix. This specimen is over 25 years old and is from the ORIGINAL find from the 1970's that was brought to the United States by Richard Kosnar.
13.0 x 8.2 x 5.5 cm. A STRIKING CABINET specimen from the famous Carrara Marble quarries of Italy. Water-clear, gemmy, Herkimer-style (gem and doubly-terminated) quartz crystals are attractively set in a deep cleft lined with drusy quartz in the grayish-white marble from the Lorano Quarry. The two, large, connected "diamonds" are 1.9 cm.
4.7 x 4.0 x 2.7 cm. An excellent and showy 1.4 cm cluster of sharp, matte-finish, dark brown chalcocite crystals attractively set on milky quartz matrix from the famous Butte District of Montana. Sharp crystals of chalcocite from Butte are relatively uncommon and this is a good one. Ex. Phil Scalisi and George Elling Collections.
15.2 x 9.4 x 8.0 cm. A UNIQUE and DAMATIC vertical LARGE CABINET millerite specimen from the famous Ollie, Iowa locality. Three stacked vugs, the top one hidden, stand out on the front of the limestone matrix, which is capped by highly lustrous, blocky calcite. The lower and upper vugs host soft, hair-like needles of millerite. The lower vug is 2.9 x 2.5 cm. The two lower vugs are lined with glassy quartz crystals. It’s weird, that the middle vug has no millerite, except in a small vug just at the top of it. This is choice material from this famous locality, probably collected in the 1960s or 70s and is from the Gary Hansen Collection. The Hansen’s Hut label dates the piece to his time period.
3.0 x 4.7 x 3.7 cm. A showy and excellent undamaged cluster of translucent, lustrous and frosted, stepped-face, gray-green fluorite cuboctahedrons on silicified limestone matrix from the Sunshine #1 Adit from the famous Blanchard Mine of New Mexico. The fluorite cluster display and sprinkling of quartz crystals make for a fine specimen.
4.1 x 1.5 x 1.2 cm. A gorgeous, gemmy and sharp, light purple amethyst crystal jauntily perched on a stalk of milky quartz from Hopkinton, Rhode Island. The amethyst is very glassy. Rhode Island amethyst crystals of this quality are always in demand and specimens are rare. Ex. George Elling Collection.
12.3 x 7.8 x 5.5 cm. A STRIKING and SUPER CABINET specimen of gorgeous, translucent, deep blue fluorite cubes preferentially overgrown with tan, drusy quartz from the less-known Galena King Mine of New Mexico. This is CLASSIC New Mexico-blue fluorite collected by and from the collection of the premiere New Mexico field collector, Ray DeMark. Collected in 2003.
11.1 x 6.6 x 6.4 cm. This specimen is so much better in person - the calcite just glows with gemminess, and has a very slight golden tone. It is just a fabulous calcite twin in pristine condition. It measures 4.4 cm. with a very distinct twinning plane running down the center. The crystal sits on a bed of small, sparkly quartz crystals.
3.7 x 2.1 x 1.3 cm. This is a single, whopper uvite crystal - just under 4 cm across, which makes it really spectacular for the species. But it is also beautiful, having fine luster, and with a gemmy, doubly-terminated quartz crystal having grown right on its display face! The crystal is complete all around, and well-terminated.
11.0 x 3.6 x 2.9 cm. From the Wein Collection, acquired by them in 1982 according to the collection card -- a doubly-terminated quartz crystal, shot through at one end with golden needles of rutile. On the surface are dark mossy green books of clinochlore.
5.1 x 3.4 x 2.5 cm. A delicate cluster of beautifully transparent amethyst crystals from Vera Cruz, matrix-free. The specimen has a beautiful balance, and the crystals have a fine glassy luster and are in pristine condition.
7.3 x 4.1 x 3.1 cm. A doubly-terminated floater crystal of amethystine/smoky quartz from Kenya, not a big producer of specimens, which makes these crystals prized. They have Brandberg-like qualities, the same gemmy clarity and variegated hues. This crystal has areas of interesting glassy jagged faces resembling those on a kunzite crystal.
15.6 x 14.4 x 11.8 cm. A super-showy plate of quartz stalactites, with the central one rising a full 12 centimeters from the matrix plate! It is accented by some gently curved ones at its base. Wonderful trim job, which gives the piece superb balance and form.
12.2 x 7.8 x 7.5 cm. A unique and amazing specimen, featuring a BIG, complete and terminated smoky quartz crystal enclosing a gemmy aquamarine crystal! The aquamarine measures 4.5 cm, is DOUBLY-TERMINATED and is a fine gem crystal in and of itself. But of course, what makes it special is that this huge, fine and gemmy smoky crystal grew right around it like a tree growing around a fence post.
21.9 x 9.2 x 6.7 cm. Two huge, elongated, magnificently gemmy (does not come through in pics!) crystals of quartz from the Austrian Alps! The two crystals are elegantly intergrown, and just clear as glass. They are complete all around, with some contact on the back side and a ding on one of the tips, but overall in fine shape. These crystals are just VERY unique in form, and extremely impressive and striking in person! Ex. Wein Collection.
