A fat, barrel-like , doubly-terminated crystal of 1.5 cm, perches on top of a translucent doubly-terminated quartz! The second crystal has one termination, and prvides a great accent and more color. Smallish in size (really a toenail and not a fully robust sized miniature) but so intricate and interesting !
A LARGE cabinet specimen featuring translucent calcites to almost 4 inches, 9 cm in size, isolated in a matrix of coated quartz crystals. The crystals show good luster and very sharp form. The specimen is in fine shape, with just a couple of very unobtrusive contacts. Sawn on back to remove from the matrix. A big, showy and dramatic Russian specimen and very unusual in its association!

This mine is now producing regularly, small pockets of some of the best amethyst yet found in North America. But, they are still incredibly rare in this quality - a complete, all around, pristine, SHARP, deepest purple crystal. From the Ed David Collection.

Kuiu Island in Alaska has produced some very fine , though small Fluorites over the years. Some are octahedral or as in this case, sharp very distinct cubes. This line of crystals snakes along an attractive, drusy Quartz matrix, and the largest crystal is about .7 cm. The luster is silky and beautiful, giving the gemmy crystals a definite, eye-catching pearly glow. Definitely the best of the Kuiu Island Fluorites that I have seen over collecting fluorites for several decades

Mined about 1990, this excellent combination piece has the classic gemmy Fluorites with dramatic beveled edges that are so indicative of Shang Bao. These are intergrown with sharp, gemmy Quartz crystals, all on top of a layer of Pyrite and matrix. The largest of the Fluorites is 1.7 cm across. What sets this apart from the others, without question, are among the finest sharp purple phantoms that I have seen from this well-known mine. The Fluorites have an octahedral purple phantom in the center of the crystal, and radiating from each corner of the octahedron is a sharp purple line that goes directly to the surface of the crystal. Simply striking.

Excellent and intricate grouping of three highly intergrown, pastel blue cubes of Fluorite to 2.1 cm across. The luster is superb, and the clarity is high. On close inspection, you can see a delicate purple zone just below the faces. Sitting on well-formed Quartz crystals, this is a fabulous miniature example of why this mine is known for producing such incredible combination specimens
Two perfect, intergrown crystals of bright, brassy chalcopyrite (1.8 cm across), isolated on a contrasting shard of snowy quartz.
This is a very large cluster of BIG, doubly-terminated, sceptred quartz crystals showing skeletal growth along their side faces! The big central crystal is incredibly architectural, with layers of skeletal growth, and the scepter sitting right on top like a cap! An extremely interesting and unusual quartz specimen, and big and showy as well!

Unusual, elongated, robust crystals of hollandite in frozen quartz matrix. Very odd , for the species. I had not seen crystals in this style before

If I had to pick one miniature for sheer pizzazz, this would be it. The specimen features a really fine aqua with deep color, excellent glassy lustre, and complete all around....but its those associations that obviously make it outstanding and visually unique! Never have I seen a miniature from here with such interesting and unusual aesthetics, because of its associations with schorl and quartz. This full miniature is complete all around !

A stellar cluster of upright aquamarines, complete all around 360-degrees, that is perched smack on top of crystals of smoky quartz. Its amazing, really, that it grew this way and survived! The aquas are majestic, how they reach up to a multilevelled termination. It look slike a cityscape on a mountain!
ex. Charlie Key
Great combination piece with several aquas perched amidst a cluster of smoky quartz! The larger aqua is 2.5 cm and has a sceptred termination pointing front. The smaller aqua is about 2 cm and features a stunning, gemmy, sharply bevelled prismatic termination. The piece as a whole is very bright and 3-dimensional, and I think its a good deal for the price.
ex. Charlie Key
A very sharp, fine, beautiful (all things considered) 4.5 x 4 x 2 cm ilmenite crystal nestled in smoky quartz matrix! This is a very attractive piece at a good price, from the recent find of last year. The major crystal is undamaged, atop, though it has some rough spots on the bottom and back side. Its better in person and nicely 3-dimensional.
ex. Charlie Key
One of a very few specimens we have from a special pocket Charlie said was found about 3 years ago, this piece glows with more intense color in person. It features radial rosettes of shattuckite, itself a rare mineral. These are perched on top of extremely lustrous crystals of primary malachite to about 1 inch (i.e. malachite formed first as a large crystal rather than as a replacement of previous azurite as you normally see from Tsumeb or Bisbee...and quite rare in such size and quality). These alone would comand a pretty good price in such a miniature, with malachite of this quality. However, to cap it off, the malachite sets atop a rolling matrix of INTENSE BLUE quartz crystals, colored by shattuckite inclusions. Then, those quartzes site atop a thick layer of shattuckite on matrix...its just an incredible combination. In person, its more 3-dimensional as well.
ex. Charlie Key
A shockingly intense blue quartz specimen, with brilliantly lustrous crystals colored by minute inclusions of shattuckite. This is the highest color intensity I have ever seen for the material, and the piece just glows from across the room with color
