This fluorite specimen features gorgeous, deep green fluorite octohedra to almost 5 cm on edge, perched on contrasting white matrix of CRYSTALLIZED quartz. The combo is very distinct, and classic for this locale. This is a rare specimen from a locality that is older than, and much more collectible now that it is gone, than Dalnegorsk. I am told that it is probably from the 1950s or 60s, and is certainly one of the best of its kind. It is a piece I first saw about 10 years ago and recently was able to get back from the collector I sold it to at the time. I was told at the time that it was from the collection of noted Russian collector Vladimir Pelepenko, although I do not have a label to that effect.

One of the most famous collecting localities in the states has produced thousands of fine, singles, clusters and matrix pieces of doubly terminated, transparent, "diamond –like" quartz crystals. This cluster features gemmy crystals to 2.5 cm in length and is highlighted by its very culprutal form. It was found in 1999. This is, for the size, an absolutely exquisite specimen and is MUCH better in person as they are hard to photograph!

This almost pristine, gemmy, light smoky quartz specimen is heavily included by bright golden needles of rutile. It is a huge specimen and you just do not often see large rutilated quartzes around. The crystals are nearly perfect, and the piece is bright and gemmy, much more beautiful in person than the pictures indicate.

Natural citrine crystals are quite rare in nature, and most citrine available on the market is irradiated to produce the color, a ruddy orange. This amber color is natural, though. This specimen of citrine quartz has many things going for it. To start, this citrine is totally facetable! Next, it exhibits hoppered growth at the termination in teh form of a thin overhanging secondary growth atop the otherwise razor sharp termination...REALLY neat effect in person. I have never seen this in citrine quartz. Lastly, it displays a phantom of citrine growing inside the larger crystal. Also this gem crystal weighs 755 grams. It is spectacularly gemmy in person!!

This deposit, discovered less than ten years ago, is noted for huge amethyst crystal groups, composed of huge individual crystals such as this one - to my mind, the world's finest large amethyst crystals in this size range! It is more unusual to find clusters of this size (useable for most collectors) as opposed to large plates with lots of damage. This one is very classy, elegant, cluster. It is complete all around 360 degrees of the termination and also of the body, except for a contact on the back lower portion. The large crystal somewhat resembles a pineapple with multiple side terminations adding a lot of character. It is a very rich, top quality color for the find and has excellent translucency, too . 1360 grams in weight

Natural citrine crystals are quite rare in nature, and most citrine available on the market is irradiated to produce the color, a ruddy orange. This amber color is natural, though. This specimen of citrine quartz has many things going for it. To start, this citrine is totally facetable! This slightly etched, well formed crystal of citrine, is transparent and facetable for most of its length. The gorgeous color is slightly lighter than that of the crystal with hoppered growth (a volumetric effect), but this crystal exhibits a more elongated, classic growth. The crystal is complete, though contacted around the bottom perimeter for the first two inches - I was tempted to simply remove that part of the crystal , leaving a smooth base, but it IS just contact and not damage, and the height is appealing, but the trim can be done on demand if the buyer wishes. The specimen weighs 434 grams.

This is, for quality, one of the best specimens recovered in a small find of the past summer. It features a very attractive 1.3 cm purple fluorite surmounting a sparkling matrix of quartz and smaller fluorite cubes!

This is a damned good example of the classic Greek "prase" anyhow, with dramatic crystals to 5.5 cm leaping up from the matrix. Prasem was the name given to these classic quartzes, colored green by rich inclusion of hedenbergite. But beyond the obvious, it has really neat crystallized hematite rosettes in association, which I have never seen before on these! A coating of soft, fibrous actinolite overlays the "valley" running down the middle of the specimen in which teh hematite rosettes lay as well. I like that the actinolite remains, as usually it is completely blown away from the specimen, leaving them "naked".

This piece has to be seen in person to be believed. It is an absolutely mesmerizing floater crystal with INCREDIBLE glassy lustre that looks like it was just windexed and polished (but hasnt been!), and fascinating inclusions. It has yellow color due to an odd claylike material included within, overlaying internal matrix or primary generation of quartz. On top of that layer, rest SHARP anatase crystals, some of them also twinned, to 1 cm in length. It is like looking at them down through a swimming pool, of such clarity that you wonder if it is glass or water...LITERALLY, this is a mesmerizing piece and one of the most interesting included quartzes I have handled, if not the most expensive by a long shot.

This is a unique specimen, like none I have seen so far from China, as it features a Japan Law twin quartz included with a scattering of microcrysatllized babingtonite! The resulting complexity of the crystal is really interesting, and stands out from every other jap twin I have seen. I love it! The major crystal is 4 cm across. There are also half a dozen smaller twins present, though not as richly ncluded or as large.

This is a classic combination, in rare aesthetic and dramatic form and balance! Ogften, you have too much smoky or too much amazonite, but this is such a perfect mix of the two, I couldn't believe it was unrepaired and unfaked. The smoky is GEMMY and sharp, and completely terminated and freestanding 360 degrees around. The amazonites have the best color you could have asked for in pre-Tree Root Pocket material from the region, and the contrast between the sharp smoky is stark and dramatic. It comes from the noted collection of Dr. Dick Webster, one of the founders of plastic surgery and a major mineral collector several decades ago. This collection just surfaced through his children, to the market, with a friend of mine. Generally, all are good and all are classics...he had damned good taste! But this piece, while not nearly the most expensive in the collection, was one of my alltime favorites for its unique qualities. This is a superb example worthy of any collection.

This specimen hosts the largest and best epidote crystals I have yet seen from this recently productive locale in China, with sharp curved crystals measuring a whopping 2.5 cm, standing up against matrix of a host quartz crystal. I have not seen other epidotes from here of even half this size, commonly. In person, the epidote is more glassy and 3-dimensional, and has a very dark green color. These were initially mislabelled as pumpellyite when they first came out some 3 years ago, but they have been shown since to be epidote - if unusual in forma nd quality. This is MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!

This old-timer comes with a label from W.F. Ferrier of Canada, dated to the last part of the 19th. century. Frieslebenite, a rare sulfo-salt of silver, lead, and antimony, can be found on this matrix specimen associated with drusy quartz, in euhedral crystals as large as .5 cm across. It is a gray-black color with evident luster. This is a large, rich, and very rare example of the species from its most famous historic locale!

This is a visually striking specimen that starts out with a rim of emerald green, dioptase, to .7 cm across; on which are draped sparkling, snow white, spherical clusters of crystallized quartz, to 2.0 cm across. Perched aesthetically on the quartz are two rosettes of deep green, lustrous, PRIMARY MALACHITE crystals! This is very rare, especially on matrix, and even more so on matrix of dioptase! The malachite crystals are thin, elongated "rectangles" arranged in radiating 4-cm-wide clusters like a fanspray. i have never seen a specimen like this, and with the white quartz in between the two green minerals, no less! The side is rimmed with minor bits of plancheite, a copper silicate. The color contrasts on this specimen are just superb. The 3-dimensionality is impressive. Overall, its big, unique, and incredibly beautiful. I have NEVER seen a piece like this. IF YOU ARE TEMPTED, IT IS MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!
