ex. Dr. Steve Smale
WOW! I am not normally big on rose quartz specimens because they are usually composed of small xls with pale color. This one, however, stands out! I got in trade from Steve Smale's collection recently, and it is a piece i consider superior. It is complete all around and on both sides, fully crystallized. Its about 3 x 2 x 2 inches and has DEEP VIVID COLOR, no paleness about it! It is a rich hot pink, not pastel as usual! AND, more importantly perhaps, it has big juicy crystals on the business end instead of the usual small and insignificant jumble of aggregate crystals. This is TRULY oustanding in other ways: it is also pristine, lustrous, and complete all around (steve's absolute requirements!). He obtained it long ago in Brazil and frankly I am surprised he let it go in our exchange as I have not seen a better one of this style around. Also, for the price range under 10k, its about the best I think i could ever have to offer... custom lucite base included.

Also from the collection of Steve Smale is this wonderful miniature of rose quartz, with individual crystals to 1 cm in length. It appears to be a floater with no points of attachment. The piece exhibits a flower-like arrangement with a delicate light pink color and moderate luster.
