The tourmaline terminations are different colors, some pink, and styles and there are even a couple of tiny, pink tourmalines on the quartz crystals. A rare quality for the locality for both size and aesthtics! this was mined in the mid-1980s. perfect except one slight edge, where you hardly notice that one of the secondary tourmaline crystals has a broken tip. From the Murray Mine, NOT the Meikle Mine, in Elko County, comes a completely different form of barite, with its own particular beauty. These are rhombs (very nearly cubes) of barite that are covered with a sugary coating of sparkly, microcrystalline quartz, a pale dove-grey - really beautiful! The largest crystal here is a 3 cm across. Specimen is sawn flat on the bottom to remove it from the pocket. 9.5 x 8.2 x 4.5 cm

Tsumcorite, Wulfenite, Quartz from Tsumeb, Otjikoto (Oshikoto) Region, Namibia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-69325a.jpg]

This beautiful rarity has to be one of the nicest presentation-quality specimens of crystallized tsumcorite around. The quality of the crystals is really high because of many reasons: the size of the individual crystals , which are eye-visible, are relatively huge for the species; they have bright color instead of the usual rusty brown hues; sharp form as recognizable crystals instead of the usual crust of intergrown crystals (then, usually as micros); and the rich and attractive coverage on contrasting matrix. Quartz is also quite rare from Tsumeb, and the matrix concists entirely of quartz, hematite-stained a brown color. This is an exceptional and beautiful tsumcorite, and one of a style that is, for the reasons above, seldome see. 3 x 2.4 x 1.6 cm

Hematite, Pyrite, Quartz from Traversella, Chiusella Valley, Canavese District, Torino Province, Piedmont, Italy [db_pics/mdpics/MD-69329a.jpg]

A rare locality piece consisting of aestheic groups of spherical hematite rosettes with milky quartz on a pyrite matrix. The hematite roses are up to 2.6 cm across and have a shiny, gun-metal luster. The hematite roses are free of any obvious damage. The quartz crystals are well terminated and make for an interesting contrast to the hematite. Great old Ward’s label included with Hauck label. MY FIRST ASSUMPTION ON SEEIN GTHIS WAS "ANOTHER ELBA PIECE..." BUT ITS NOT! SUCH HEMATITES FROM THE PIEDMONT ARE IN FACT MUCH MORE RARE! 7.9 x 4.5 x 3.8 cm

A beautiful, good-sized specimen with sharp pink rhombs of smithsonite to 8mm. This is an old classic smithsonite from Tsumeb. The smithsonite crystals are covering bright orange crystals of quartz to 2mm - an association I had not sene previously. Several damaged smithsonite crystals are present on the specimen but overall its in pretty good shape and nothing visually detracts. Its better in person because the quartz adds a colorful accent which has more appeal in person. Piece comes with old Conklin and Hauck labels. 5.9 x 3.5 x 3.3 cm
