An incredible miniature, simply stunning, with crystals so gemmy and transPARENT, they look carved and glued on to the tetrahedrite. The matrix is crystallized tetrahedriteof jet black color an dlustre, not the usual gray or dull style. A few clear quartzes by accent, and you have a simply stunning, top calibre miniature that would fit in any competitive case. There is simply nothing wrong with the piece...it is textbook pristine and aesthetic. Out of all the hundreds of rhodos he selected from in his day (Helmut was the rhodo agent contracted to be selling to Europe for most of the 1990s!) , this was the one Helmut kept. There are bigger, but not many finer. Rhodos of this quality do go for an admitted "arm and a leg." They must. There are just so few of them to go around.

Helmut said he got this from an engineer who works in a current tunnel project, and that it was a totally unique piece from a small pocket hit only a few years ago. It is really a unique thing...I have seen chlorite-included or coated gwindels , as have we all. They tend to be not so attractive. But this one, it has subtle microscopic inclusions of chlorite within that impart a green color to the crystal without numbing the lustre or brightness by being macro-inclusions. As a bonus, this is a complete floater crystal, pristine all around; and has a little gem apatite at its base, underneath, as well.

Although it is hard to tell how good this is from the photo, trust me - its WATER CLEAR and has the best sparkling glassy lustre you could imagine. For the size, this gemmy, brilliantly sparkling gwindel (twisted) smoky quartz is one of the best you can get. It looks good from either direction, too!

This is an incredibly ornate, intricate crystallized copper that looks like nothing so much as an ancient ceremonial shield. It features SHARP (razorsharp!) spinel-twinned copper crystals radiating off to either side of a central atrray of two larger and more robust crystals running lengthwise down the piece. Between each spinel twin "spoke" are hundreds of tiny conenctor crystals in a herringbone-style pattern, reinforcing the strength and stability of the whole piece as well as making for a mesmerizing look. The piece is 3-dimensional, in that it has a thick midsection lending stability and support. This is a VERY UNUSUAL STYLE for a Michigan copper and quite different than most of what you could obtain from these old mines. I have seen no other quite like this for sale, except for superficially similar material from the Champion Mine - in person, though, they are quite distinct.Comes with custom lucite display base.

This specimen features unusually flattened, lustrous and translucent calcites perched on colorless quartz crystals, to 1 cm in length. Associated with the quartz are splendent, brassy yellow crystals of chalcopyrite, to 1 cm across. The disk shaped crystals of lustrous and translucent, white calcite crystals, to 3.25 cm across, are then perched on both the quartz and chalcopyrite. Neat combo specimen!

Citrine has always been rare from this classic locality, and highly desired by the collectors. Two crystals of lustrous and translucent, orangey-layered quartz, to 6.5 cm, in length have been nearly enveloped by a secondary, sugary druse of sparkling tan colored citrine (you can see the layering from below). Scintillating and bright, this piece just sparkles!

Scattered on the sharp white quartz points here, radiating out, are lustrous and translucent, honey colored, fishtail twins of gypsum, to 3 cm in length. A few of the gypsum crystals are also doubly terminated. The quartz fluoresces a rich purple color. Lovely combo piece!

Aesthetically perched on a manganese or iron oxide are a few glassy and gemmy , colorless to tan, quartz crystals, to 4.5 cm in length. The largest crystal is also doubly terminated. The contrast of form and color between the quartz crystals and the black matrix is superb.

Emplaced on massive sulfides are splendent, brassy yellow crystals of chalcopyrite to 2 cm in length along with drusy clusters of lustrous, white quartz. Additionally, there are a few crystals, to 1 cm across, of lustrous, battleship gray, galena. VERY bright and shrp, this is a beautiful specimen.

A cluster of long prismatic , lustrous crystals of quartz, to 5 cm in length, have been heavily included by chlorite, thus rendering the crystals a deep olive-green color. The back side of the specimen is covered by lustrous , white, calcite crystals, to 1 cm across. Great color contrast, and as a bonus the calcite fluoresces a purple orange.

A cluster of lustrous and slightly translucent, milky-white crystals of danburite to 9.5 cm in length are surmounted by several short, prismatic, glassy and gemmy, amber-colored crystals of citrine measuring 1.4 cm in length. This is definitely an unusual , compelling combination. Such intensely colored sitrine is rare in nature form any locale, and is selcom seen associated with the danburite here. It is a very aesthetic contrast

A solid mass of lustrous, brassy-yellow crystals of pyrrhotite, to 2.5 cm in length, is surmounted by a single quartz crystal on one side. The other side is solid pyrrhotite. The quartz is an unusual association on the pyrrhotite, and is lustrous and translucent. The back side has several small spheres of what might be iron oxides attached. Overall a great example of this old classic find

This is a fascinating, triangular shaped cluster of three large, slender, quartz crystals, to 7.5 cm in length. They are mostly opaque, milky prisms except at the terminations - which are glassy, gemmy, and colorless (very sparkly!). Although seemingly just cute and simple, the piece actually exhibits a lot of complexity when you start looking closely. Complete all around

Bladed, glassy and gemmy, colorless crystals, to 1.3 cm across, are aesthetically perched high on a matrix of drusy, pastel purple amethystine quartz . Quite lovely and elegant, this is like a little jewel!!! It is one of my favorite calcite thumbnails, period.
