Cassiterite, Pyrite, Quartz from Hunan Province, China [db_pics/mdpics/MD-51437a.jpg]

Spectacular luster and sharpness characterize the fine cassiterite crystals on this Chinese specimen. The individual cassiterites, to 1.5 cm, are beautifully isolated on a bed of pyrite (rather than just lumped together), and the pyrite itself sits on a nest of quartz crystals. The camera had trouble distinguishing the cassiterites from the pyrite, but in person, there is a nice contrast, and the glassy crystals really jump out at you! 7.5 x 6 x 4 cm

I have been lucky enough to have handled several AMAZING pyrites from the Jung collection, and this is another really exceptional one. These wonderful crystals look for all the world like ANTIQUE BRONZE! They really do have an amazingly special luster and surface, as though they were cast by a sculptor! What’s more, the crystals are ranged along the top of a ridge of frosty, slender accenting quartz crystals. This specimen has such a classic beauty – exceptional! 12 x 6 x 5.5 cm

Quartz (Var: Rose Quartz), Quartz (Var: Smoky Quartz) from Taquaral, Itinga, Jequitinhonha valley, Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil [db_pics/mdpics/MD-51544a.jpg]

A huge compound crystal of rose quartz, complete all the way around and terminated with a multitude of small peaks along either side, has wrapped itself around a crystal of smoky quartz! A really interesting specimen of a very desirable quartz variety. This is older material from the 1970s, in all likelihood. It is a large and wellcrystallized RQ for the price 5.2 x 5 x 3.5 cm

This is an OLD Eastern European cassiterite specimen that simply could not be much better. The crystal has magnificently sharp and classic form, and is surrounded by smaller cassiterites and quartz crystals on a matrix perfectly trimmed to create a beautiful setting. It just has a “classic” look to it befitting an old European specimen! 3 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm

If you love this specimen as much as I do, grab it fast, because I doubt you will see another like it. In fact, it is hard to imagine a more dramatic and spectacular scepter specimen. It features two pristine, frosty, intergrown quartz crystals, rising in parallel, capped by BIG, sharp caps of amethyst that have wrapped themselves around the terminations of the quartz crystals. This large, incredibly showy and striking specimen came out of the collection of Paul Jung recently. Never seen another such double scepter, before!10 x 5.5 x 2.6 cm

Quartz (Var: Amethyst) from Santa Margarita Mine, Amatitlán, Mun. de Zumpango del Rio, Guerrero, Mexico [db_pics/mdpics/MD-52104a.jpg]

You just do not see as many world-class MINIATURES of Guerrero amethyst as you do larger specimens. So, for the collector of miniatures, this is a rare treat! It could hardly be better. The purple-blush phantoms are sharp and distinct inside the gemmy clear quartz. There is NO damage or contact, and the piece is perfect all the way around and perfectly trimmed, so it can be displayed from any number of directions. Absolutely fabulous for what it is in this size range – try to find one better! 4.7 x 3.8 x 3 cm

A large, deep red, SCEPTERED(!) crystal of cinnabar, dramatically isolated on a matrix of quartz and dolomite. The crystal measures 1.5 cm, rising well above the matrix, and is complete and exposed all around. A smaller crystal is nearby. 9 x 5.5 x 3.5 cm

An incredible quartz specimen! These crystals are absolutely GEM/WATER clear, and inside each of them is a sharp red phantom from an earlier generation that was coated with bright, brick-red hematite. The result is a dramatic starburst of glassy, gemmy phantomed crystals, surrounded and accented by milky crystals. This is a real showpiece! MUCH BETTER IN PERSON! 15.5 x 11.5 x 6 cm
