Rhodochrosite, Quartz, Sphalerite from Manuelita Mine, Morococha District, Yauli Province, Junín Department, Peru [db_pics/mdpics/MD-51206a.jpg]

A vivid, colorful piece with unusual aesthetics, comprised of sharp red rhodo rhombohedra draping over small, sparkly quartz sprays, themselves perched on teh edge of a large twinned sphalerite. The overall composition is really striking! 7.4 x 6.5 x 2.3 cm

Fluorite, Quartz from Pella, Orange River, Northern Cape Province, South Africa [db_pics/mdpics/MD-51210a.jpg]

One of the best examples from a new find of fluorite in northern South Africa, on the road to Namibia, that was brought to my attention by Desmond Sacco at the Munich show. This elegant specimen features a single large egg of fluorite in a nest of quartz, making for great aesthetics. the alternating faces of this fluorite are either pebbly or smooth, making for a striking, complex appearance to the crystal. It is very transparent internally, through the clear frontal face. This is an attrractive and highly unusual specimen, and is one of the better examples for its size from the find (more will come down the road, I am sure, but this should always be among the better ones, I would think, from the representative material I have seen so far) 6.7 x 5.1 x 3.8 cm

Quartz (Var: Amethyst) from Kedon, Magadanskaya Oblast', Far-Eastern Region, Russia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-51265a.jpg]

This is an alegant, nearly-floating cluster of deeply colored amethyst from the classic and historic deposits of Siberia. It is extremely color and gemmy! The crystals are backed by a thin plate of matrix attached to the backside, but from the front they look like a kinetic sculpture, "dancing" almost without any visible means of support. 5.5 x 4.4 x 3.1 cm

Tinzenite, Quartz from Molinello Mine, Graveglia Valley, Ne, Genova Province, Liguria, Italy [db_pics/mdpics/MD-51286a.jpg]

An unusually large and rich specimen, with thick clusters of tinzenite in radiating balls, on a small bit of attached matrix. This is the largest and richest piece, by weight of the material, that I have had. Despite its size, it is in good shape, with just a few very minor dings to it. 5 x 3.75 x 3.5 cm

Quartz, Sphalerite from Dal'negorsk (Dalnegorsk; Tetyukhe; Tjetjuche; Tetjuche), Primorskiy Kray, Far-Eastern Region, Russia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-51293a.jpg]

Super-gemmy, slender and elegant quartz crystals shoot out in all directions, interpenetrating a cluster of lustrous, euhedral sphalerite crystals. This is a knob that was sticking out into the pocket, exposed on all sides, and therefore covered with crystals all the way around! Very pretty! If you wish to display it with the sphalerites at the bottom, it looks like a quartz tree! Most unusual for the locale... 9.5 x 7.5 x 6.5 cm

Two superb sphalerite crystals, the larger a whopping 7 cm across (!), on a matrix of quartz crystals. The crystals feature superbly lustrous, sharp, stepped faces, wonderfully geometric and flashing in all directions. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!! 10.5 x 7.5 x 5.5 cm

Quartz, Calcite from Jalgaon District, Maharashtra, India [db_pics/mdpics/MD-51414a.jpg]

A striking cluster of four calcite stalactites covered with sparkly quartz crystals, from a recently-discovered pocket in India. One of them actually bends over like a bent finger. Can be displayed from any number of directions. Prettier in person! 10 x 6.5 x 4.5 cm

Calcite, Quartz from Dal'negorsk (Dalnegorsk; Tetyukhe; Tjetjuche; Tetjuche), Primorskiy Kray, Far-Eastern Region, Russia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-51418a.jpg]

An extremely aesthetic, large and impressive specimen consisting of a very big, sharp and geometric compound crystal of calcite, perfectly centered on a matrix with accenting needles of quartz. The crystal is in superb condition, with no damage at all – quite remarkable for a specimen this size. Unusual for the locale, too! 12 x 10 x 5.8 cm

Galena, Quartz from Krushev dol deposit, Krushev dol mine, Madan ore field, Rhodope Mts, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria [db_pics/mdpics/MD-51419a.jpg]

Very unusual thin, platy spinel-twins of galena, with very high metallic luster, stand on edge all over the quartz crystal-covered matrix of this very large and dramatic specimen! The galenas are quite beautiful, very angular and geometrix. There are at least a couple dozen here, scattered liberally throughout the bed of quartz. This from a previous (and not particularly expensive) dealer. 18 x 13 x 7 cm

Quartz (Var: Smoky Quartz) from Dodo Mine, Tyumenskaya Oblast', Polar Urals, Western-Siberian Region, Russia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-51420a.jpg]

When was the last time you saw a matrix smoky specimen this large and fine? Truth is, you just do not see many of these at all, in ANY size or quality, from most locales. This huge plate is COVERED with Swiss-quality, gemmy smokies to 5.5 cm in length! They are almost pristine. Just a few tiny dings, otherwise all perfect. The smopkies erupt from a flat plate of matrix. Just try to find another like this ANYWHERE! 25.5 x 17 x 4.7 cm
