A CLASSIC, OLD-TIMER from Bad Ems, Germany of lustrous, brown pyromorphite prisms to 1.7 cm on nicely contrasting massive galena and vein quartz. There are some broken pyromorphite prisms, but many are also in good shape and so this is a highly representative piece from this famous locale. The vein quartz with the massive galena is not that common in Bad Ems specimens. Ex Richard Hauck Collection. 6.8 x 5.2 x 5.1 cm
A DRAMATIC and AESTHETIC specimen of a gemmy and lustrous, 3.9 cm, blue-green indicolite tourmaline nicely attached to the side of a lustrous, translucent and etched, smoky quartz crystal from the famous Cruzeiro Mine of Brazil. This fine piece is from the collection of Steve Smale. Steve tells me, that this is one of the very first Brazilian pieces he bought on his first trip to Brazil in the 1960s. 9.0 x 6.2 x 5.4 cm
A CLASSIC, OLD-TIMER from the Pink Quarry, Shap, Cumbria, England of glassy, translucent, green fluorite crystals with rich, purple overtones and three, transparent and lustrous, quartz quartz crystals.to 1.8 cm. Seldom available in this style and quality. The minor damage is barely noticeable on this fine, old piece with many display possibilities. 4.6 x 3.8 x 2.9 cm
A really fine and beautiful example from last year''s find of lustrous green epidote crystals on quartz, in Sichuan Province. This specimen is distinguished by its pretty isolation of clusters of epidotes, some of which are included inside the quartz crystals. 13.2 x 9.7 x 5.0cm
A staggered crystal, sharp and well-terminated, of clear selenite (gypsum) jutting up from a bed of quartz crystals, from Mexico. Dramatic! 10.2 x 8.3 x 6.8cm
It does not come out in the pics, but this large faden quartz specimen has a distinct faden line running all the way through it. It is quite lustrous, with sharp faces and pretty "cut-glass"-like staggered growth along one side. The crystal is complete and terminated all around! 15.2 x 7.7 x 5.2cm
No, this is not another Chinese arsenopyrite, but a fine PANASQUEIRA arsenopyrite specimen, with superb golden cogwheels of arsenopyrite standing up dramatically off of a matrix of fine, gemmy quartz crystals (much gemmier in person than the pics show!). 8.4 x 5.5 x 5.2cm
Brandberg quartzes are amongst the finest in the world, notably because of the distinct "blushes" of amethystine or smoky color inside of the super-gemmy crystals. This one not only has a wonderful "curl of smoke" drifting through its gemmy center - it is also a fine doubly-terminated, floater sceptre!! A superb crystal in every way: complete, terminated all around and undamaged. 6.1 x 3.3 x 2.8cm
A fine "skeletal" quartz crystal, with recessed faces demarcated by iron-oxide inclusions, and an internal phantom! 7.9 x 3.1 x 2.9cm
Lustrous quartz crystals wrap around the sides of a euhedral galena - very pretty, an old Missouri piece. 8.4 x 5.8 x 4.1cm
A fine plate of gemmy amethyst crystals with the delicate pastel blush that makes Veracruz amethysts so sought-after - to 2.2 cm in length. 6.5 x 5.6 x 3.5cm
A large "Herkimer-style" quartz crystal, sharp, lustrous and gemmy, measuring 5 cm, with a smaller crystal nearby, on a matrix that also has sulfides anddolomite, and a cluster of euhedral calcite crystals. Came with a label that shows it to have been purchased at the Rochester Mineralogical Symposium Auction in April of 2000. such a large and interesting matrix piece is really unusual! 24.6 x 11.3 x 7.0cm
This 2.3 cm long, transparent, highly lustrous, blue gem crystal of elbaite is girdled by a druse of colorless quartz. Very aesthetic specimen with incredible aesthetics for a matrix tourmaline thumbnail, as so many are just singles. 2.4 x 1.5 x 1.3 cm
An amazingly glowing and gemmy , 2-inch-long, TWINNED, calcite crystal, like cut glass and even throwing off spectral colors, perched on a matrix of quartz. I have never seen an example of this style of twin so nicely perched on matrix!!! They are always loose singles! The calcite is doubly-terminated, and perfect. The crystal also shows beautiful striations on its faces. Its just incredible...i couldn't believe it... 6 x 4.2 x 3.5 cm
Yet another remarkable Dalnegorsk calcite – it is truly amazing the different forms calcites can take from this one locality. The crystals here are perfect, sharp hexagons with the most unique appearance: they are a translucent, very light pink (slightly manganoan) around the sides, and a snowy, opaque white on the large frontal faces! They sit beautifully on a plate of sparkly quartz microcrystals. The large calcite measures 4 cm tip-to-tip. BETTER IN PERSON 7.8 x 5 x 3.5 cm
