These are some of the most well-known Quartz specimens in the world. This is a very attractive little group consisting of several gemmy, sharp, highly lustrous, bipyramidal, doubly-terminated "stubby" crystals. There is little damage around the specimen and the gemminess of crystals this size is impressive. 4.8 x 4.8 x 4.3cm
Here we have a great specimen for all you cast collectors out there. This mine has produced some of the best casts after Anhydrite that I''ve seen from the United States. It is filled with dozens of small white casts of Quartz after Anhydrite with small Pyrite crystals. This mine is long defunct and these specimens will no longer be seen except from old collections. 8.5 x 5.7 x 3.5cm
"Reverse" scepter and simple crystals of Amethyst measuring up to 2.0 cm sitting atop white/colorless, modified rhombohedra of Calcite on very minor underlain forest-green color "Chlorite" on matrix. 8.5 x 5.6 x 4.5cm
A large, showy, super-sharp specimen of Eastern European galena. The crystals show sharp, textbook form, and are decorated with golden pyrite and quartz crystals in-between. The galenas measure to 3 cm across. 12.7 x 8.1 x 4.8cm
A sensationally pretty Eastern European specimen. These pyrites (to 1.8 cm) have the most gorgeous luster, striated faces and modified edges - but more than that, it is the way they are nestled amongst these very distinctive-looking Madan quartz crystals, which don''t look like quartzes from anywhere else; they have a very unique beauty to them. 10.8 x 6.8 x 5.4cm
A VERY LARGE, very showy and beautiful Bulgarian combo specimen - still with its $550 label from the previous dealer. It has creamy starbursts of calcite, isolated on a sparkly quartz matrix, with a cluster of SUPERB, mirror-metalllic galenas, stacked architecturally, to 1 cm across the edge. Note that this piece could be trimmed if you wish into a spectacular small cab specimen - with the calcite starburst, quartz and galenas grouped perfectly in one area. It is best displayed the bottom-up as shown for a collector, though to photograph it , its better shot this way because of shadowing and the 3-dimensioanl form of it 20.2 x 14.2 x 6.8cm
A remarkably pretty amethyst, in that the very sparkly amethyst crystals have grown over and on an underlying EUHEDRAL crystal of calcite, giving it an unusual sculptural structure rather than the typical flat plate of prismatic xls you see from here. 6 x 5 x 3.4cm
A striking 4.5-cm amethyst crystal, DOUBLY-terminated and perched dramatically right at the edge of a matrix covered with gemmy quartz crystals! 5.7 x 4.7 x 4.0cm
A BEAUTIFUL, 1.7 cm, lustrous, twinned and striated, dark oliive-green epidote crystal nicely set on massive epidote matrix covered with transparent quartz needles and smaller epidote crystals. Dr. Gary Hansen personally collected this showy piece at the Green Monster Mine, probably in the 1960s or early 70s., according to his label still with it . it was still in his personal collection some 30 years later when i bought it 5.7 x 4.9 x 3.7 cm
A very rich and aesthetically shaped specimen of the SUPER-FLUORESCENT and rare, cherry-red, beryllium silicate, tugtupite, in quartz matrix from the Ilimaussaq Complex in Greenland. The base has been sawed to enhance display. Ex University of Copenhagen and Richard Hauck Collection. 7.4 x 6.0 x 2.7 cm
Simply, ONE OF THE VERY BEST, millerite specimens, that we have had at auction. A face of snow-white chalcedony matrix is nearly covered with VERY SOFT, hair-like millerite crystals to 2.0 cm. A bonus vug on the side of 2.0 cm is also floored with millerite hairs. The fine and showy piece is from the famous Kaser Quarry in Iowa. 5.7 x 4.1 x 3.7 cm
A beautiful thumbnail cluster of water-clear, glassy, purple sugilite crystals INSIDE OF quartz from the 1983 find at the famous Wessels Mine of South Africa. Sugilite is a very rare lithium silicate, not often found in such gemmy crystals. This was a onetime occurrence and even a tiny thumb like this is a real treasure to those who value such odd and rare finds! 1.4 x 1.2 x 0.8 cm
A SPECTACULAR, pristine, Indian CABINET specimen of translucent, botyroidal, yellow fluorite on a 7.4 cm, lustrous, calcite crystal. The calcite crystal is translucent and frosted, colorless, and contrasts nicely. It rests in a cradle and on an undulatory bed of quartz crystals on a bit of basalt matrix. This is a VERY RARE combination from the find a few years ago at the Mahodari Quarrry near Nasik. 11.8 x 9.0 x 5.2 cm
Amethyst with a fine balance of purple and a pretty rust-red from hematite inclusions. The crystals are sharp and lustrous. 4.4 x 4.0 x 2.4cm
This is a large and fabulous quartz specimen! It features two very large, perfectly-formed, beautifully transparent crystals, both perfectly terminated . . with very distinct inclusions of black graphite inside. This very large specimen is beautifully balanced and sculptural; put on a stand, it could be a real centerpiece! In shape, it could be shown as a colt-45 lookalike. it is a floater with no damage! from a find of about 4 years back now 22.3 x 10.7 x 3.6cm
