A very fine, 2-cm green uvite tourmaline crystal, on a matrix of magnesite and quartz. 4.7 x 4.3 x 3.9cm
This specimen features a botryoidal layer of bumpy, salmon colored rhodochrosite, with a large euhedral crystal that appears to be a quartz crystal in the process of being either thickly covered otr perhaps pseudomorphed to rhodochrosite. The contact, where the specimen was removed from the pocket, is on the right end of the specimen as the photo is arranged, but as you can see from the photo, you can display the piece so this broken-off end does not show. This is thus a very aesthetic, and important, example of the classic Japanese rhodo. 8.7 x 4.9 x 3.6cm
An AMAZINGLY shaped, colorless to light lavender, translucent, chalcedony specimen nicely set on matrix that looks like an ear! FANTASTIC green fluorescence! A highly unusual New Mexico piece. Ex Marty Lewadny Collection. 5.0 x 3.8 x 2.6 cm
A large, showy CABINET plate of corroded, green, tetragonal tennantite crystals to 3.3 cm on lustrous, rust-red dolomite on quartz from Tsumeb. An EXCELLENT combination piece, as quartz is RARE at Tsumeb and there are well-developed, sharp crystals. 15.0 x 9.0 x 2.8 cm
A VERY SHOWY, two-sided, quartz needle plate attractively topped with transparent and lustrous amethyst crystals to 2.7 cm. from Las Vigas, Mexico. All of the amethyst crystals are pristine. 9.9 x 6.2 x 3.5 cm
The fluorites on this specimen appear for all the world like JEWELS that have been delicately placed on the sides of the quartz crystals! A few quartzes are broken, most intact. They are that gemmy and bright! These glass-clear light blue fluorites even have purple phantoms inside. Stunning! BETTER IN PERSON! 10.5 x 9.5 x 7 cm
Just an amazingly dramatic mineral specimen. This is a HUGE ball of golden, sparkling marcasite, complete and undamaged, nestled in a carefully-trimmed bed of quartz crystals. There is a sprinkling of little marcasite crystals on the quartz crystals as well, making them glitter. This specimen can be displayed beautifully from at least three different angles. One of just three specimens of this style I have seen. 13 x 10 x 8 cm
A BIG, DRAMATIC cluster of quartz crystals with sharply defined phantoms inside! The earlier growth of the quartz crystals was milky and opaque, so the later gemmy generation of growth left the phantoms inside clearly visible. In some of the crystals, you can see a DOUBLE phantom, the second phantom being marked by a trace of green chlorite. The crystals are decorated along their side faces with dozens of sub-terminations. The peak of the uppermost crystal does have some damage, and there are a couple of other minor dings. Still, for a piece this size, these are allowable detractions. 18 x 16 x 6.2 cm
I have never seen a Namibian tourmaline quite like this: a sceptered quartz crystal is growing right off its side! In fact, the tourmaline altered its form as it grew around the stalk of this scepter, having its growth blocked in the area of the quartz and then continuing its growth to form three separate terminations at the top (two of them are complete and one is a contact). Typical of many tourmalines from this locality, it is no match in gemminess for a good Brazilian one, but as a unique locality piece it is really something! 5 x 3.5 x 2 cm
A glossy, showy Eastern Euro specimen combining lustrous, euhedral sphalerites with shiny-metallic galena crystals, the largest showing architectural hoppered growth. Sharp quartz points accent the matrix. 6.5 x 4.6 x 3.5cm
This new find of amethyst at the Reel Mine was one of the exciting events of earlier this year. They turned up at Tucson, and while the prices were very high, they still sold hotly. This specimen has crystals with a fine lavender blush and gemmy tips. 5.7 x 5.0 x 3.7cm
A sharp, complete, undamaged and lustrous crystal of quartz somewhere between citrine and "smoky". Very gemmy termination! You do not see too many quartzes of this caliber from Australia on the market! 5.5 x 3.0 x 2.7cm
Big, sharp crystals of smoky quartz from the Swiss Alps, with a coating of chlorite very common for these finds. Very gemmy interiors! The crystals measure up to 3.5 cm in length. Ex. Lewadny collection 8.0 x 6.8 x 4.1cm
A beautiful and excellent combination specimen from Romania of lustrous, twinned, black sphalerite crystals to 1.2 cm with lustrous chalcopyrite and pyrite crystals on a bed of transparent, needle quartz crystals. Ex. Ed Ruggiero Collection, who purchased this piece in May, 1987. This is one of the last pieces that Ed ever purchased, as he quit collecting in 1987. A bit of periphery damage is certainly not detracting. None of the major sulfide crystals are damaged. 9.7 x 8.8 x 3.0 cm
A very sculptural and aesthetic specimen of light, powder-blue chyrsocolla matrix with a vug containing gemmy and lustrous dioptase crystals to 8 mm and water-clear, transparent quartz crsytals from the less well-known Kaokoveld Mine in Namibia. The upper portion of the chrysocolla matrix looks like a horses neck and head. Uncommon material in this quality. 7.0 x 4.0 x 2.3 cm
