Quartz has replaced the original selenite "rose" here, creating a perfect pseudomorph that retains the form of the original selenite. One of several fine pseudomorphs in this auction that we found at the recent Denver show, from the Belsher collection. FROM A COLLECTOR RE: THE LOCALITY: I think it is from near Crawford in Dawes County, Nebraska (western Neb.). I have a couple collected by Dan Belsher from there (he scooped up a lot of them in the 1970s, I would not be surprised if yours is/are also via him). If I remember correctly, they are fairly fluorescent (green I believe). 4.4 x 4.1 x 3.3 cm
A showy and unusual specimen of the interior a fossilized Florida coral lined with black, drusy quartz and the part of the coral itself replaced with black quartz. This very interesting piece has been slabbed and polished. Choice material from the Lewadny Collection. 5.0 x 4.3 x 2.3 cm
What a beautiful and dramatic specimen! A spray of epidote crystals, well terminated, perched right on top of a quartz crystal! A second spray juts forward into the main one. This is a really exceptional and aesthetic epidote specimen! From the mid-90s 7.3 x 5 x 3.8 cm
A cluster of lustrous quartz crystals, heavily included with an unidentified caramel-colored mineral and a bit of hematite. 6.2 x 4.8 x 3.9 cm
A "Thunder Bay"-style hematite-included amethyst cluster that is not from Thunder Bay! We acquired some of these specimens from a Canadian dealer, mined at the Diamond Willow amethyst mine in Ontario. Very sharp, lustrous and pretty! Shot in bright light to bring out the purple tones - not quite as bright in person (VERY similar to the familiar Thunder Bay clusters in appearance). 6.9 x 5 x 2.9 cm
A beautifully aesthetic and pristine Arizona specimen of water-clear quartz needles to 3.5 cm on tiny green andradite crystals from Stanley Butte. An excellent combination piece from this locality. 5.9 x 4.5 x 2.3 cm
A showy and excellent specimen from the Cryo-Genie Mine of gemmy, pink and pink and green tourmaline crystals to 4.4 cm on and in a lustrous, glassy quartz crystal attached to beige, bladed cleavelandite. Part of the quartz crystal has very nice stepped faces and the slight ding on the termination is barely noticeable and is certainly not detracting. Ex Korpi Collection. 8.7 x 7.5 x 6.4 cm
A DRAMATIC and SUPERB LARGE CABINET specimen of 7 RARE, GREEN, translucent fluorite hemispheres to 1.8 cm with calcite crystals on quartz over basalt matrix from the UNIQUE find a few years ago at the Mahodari Quarry in India. Green fluorite is the least common color varietal from this find. Yellow and red are much more common. 16.5 x 10.5 x 6.8 cm
A VERY SHOWY and beautiful MATCHED PAIR of Mexican geode halves. Lustrous, transparent to translucent, "angel-wing" calcite crystals to 3.5 cm rest on a lining of nicely contrasting blue chalcedony. An exceptional pair from Mexico. Choice material from the Lewadny Collection. 13.0 x 12.2 x 5.3 cm
A very showy, pristine cluster of lustrous and gemmy amethyst crystals to 2.8 cm from the famous Kingston District of California. Amethyst of this quality is UNCOMMON from this locale. 5.4 x 5.3 x 3.0 cm
A very complex, super-brassy bright (much brighter in person) chalcopyrite crystal beautifully isolated on a thin quartz matrix. 6.6 x 5 x 1.7 cm
Pink rhodochrosite in association with quartz crystals, sparkly and pretty, from the prolific Cavnic locality in Romania. 6.3 x 4.2 x 2.5 cm
We bought the lion’s share of good specimens from this exciting, small one-pocket find in India – beautiful salmon-colored stilbite bowties on sparkly stalactitic quartz branches! 6.5 x 3.9 x 3.4 cm
These specimens represent one of the most exciting new finds in China over the past year. This specimen features pretty accents of yellow and red within the gemmy quartzes, from hematite inclusions. 7.6 x 5.5 x 3.8 cm
We creamed the best specimens from this small, one-time find in India ealier this year. Very pretty and unique combo! 4.3 x 3.2 x 3.0 cm
