Quartz from Slovakia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-37935a.jpg]

If you have ever seen a better, sharper, ir more aesthetic scepter than this, then you had better run out and go get it. I haven''t. This is an amazing specimen for any species, any size. 3 x 2.1 x .7 cm

Quartz, Epidote from Prince of Wales-Outer Ketchikan Borough, Alaska, USA [db_pics/mdpics/MD-37951a.jpg]

This is an important combination piece from a great locality. The quartz is a fine crystal, and the microcrystalline Epidote is also attractive. 3.5 x 1.2 x 1.2 cm

MD-38049 - Quartz, Muscovite - - Archived
Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil

small cabinet, 7.5 cm

Quartz, Muscovite from Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil [db_pics/mdpics/MD-38049a.jpg]

This is one of the nicer pieces from a thus far VERY small find of gemmy quartz crystals on translucent yellow muscovite crystals (rather than the flaky mica type we are accustomed to). The large quartz crystal measures 7.5 cm and is doubly-terminated! (The back terminations of the quartzes are healed). I have only seen a couple dozen specimens thus far, probably from a single pocket, and picked the best of them. This was early in 2005. 8.1 x 6.3 x 3.8 cm

MD-38052 - Galena, Quartz - - Archived
Madan ore field, Rhodope Mts, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria

Galena, Quartz from Madan ore field, Rhodope Mts, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria [db_pics/mdpics/MD-38052a.jpg]

An EXCELLENT and showy plate of lustrous, interpenetrating, cuboctohedral galena crystals on matrix from Madan, Bulgaria. The small needle quartz crystals really add character to this fine piece. The cuboctohedral galena crystal habit is not that common from Madan. Ex Marty Lewadny Collection of Winnepeg, Canada. 7.6 x 7.0 x 2.8 cm

MD-38062 - Quartz, Galena, Pyrite - - Archived
Alimon Mine (Animon Mine), Huaron Mining District, San Jose de Huayllay District, Cerro de Pasco, Daniel Alcides Carrión Province, Pasco Department, Peru

A beautiful, porcupine needle-like plate of glassy, quartz needles to 2.8 cm with interspersed galena and pyrite crystals on massive sulfide matrix from the famous Huaron District of Peru. Expertly collected, the only damage is to periphery quartz crystals. Choice material from the Lewadny Collection. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON. 7.0 x 6.5 x 4.0 cm

MD-38072 - Quartz (Var: Amethyst) - - Archived
Boekenhoutshoek area (Boekenhouthoek), Mkobola district, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa

Quartz (Var: Amethyst) from Boekenhoutshoek area (Boekenhouthoek), Mkobola district, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa [db_pics/mdpics/MD-38072a.jpg]

A beautiful and lustrous, transparent to translucent amethyst crystal from the Boekenhoutshoek, South Africa. There is one super-trivial edge bruise and the contacted back is totally out of sight. Neither of these diminish the excellence of this showy crystal. Ex Marty Lewadny Collection of Winnipeg, Canada. 7.0 x 2.8 x 2.4 cm

MD-38077 - Quartz (Var: Rock Crystal) - - Archived

Quartz (Var: Rock Crystal) from Ilha claim, Taquaral, Itinga, Jequitinhonha valley, Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil [db_pics/mdpics/MD-38077a.jpg]

A pristine specimen of very sharp, water-clear, transparent quartz crystals with a large Japan-law twin from the famous Lavra da Ilha Mine of Brazil. This is an uncommonly good piece for the locality and Japan-law twin crystals are very uncommon. Ex Marty Lewadny Collection of Winnepeg, Canada. 8.2 x 6.3 x 3.4 cm.

An EXCELLENT and aesthetic cluster of lustrous, transparent to translucent, quartz crystals included-with and coated by epidote crystals from a famous California locality, Garnet Hill. Choice material from the Lewadny Collection. 4.0 x 3.9 x 3.5 cm

A wonderful, big and showy Eastern European combo specimen, featuring slender, transparent quartz crystals growing in all directions, on a matrix combining lustrous, striated sphalerite crystals and hoppered, architectural galenas with mirror luster. 14.9 x 11.8 x 4.6 cm

Quartz, Galena from Karaaliev dol deposit, Angel Yanakiev Mine, Madan ore field, Rhodope Mts, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria [db_pics/mdpics/MD-38089a.jpg]

A VERY uncommon Eastern European example of Japan Law quartz! The Japan law twin sits right in the middle of a bed of conventional quartz crystals, with accenting galena, and measures 4.5 cm across. Truly a rare thing! I have not seen another of similar magnitude! 12.1 x 8.2 x 3.6 cm

MD-38091 - Quartz, Pyrite - - Archived

Quartz, Pyrite from Turt Mine (Ghezuri Mine), Turt, Satu Mare, Maramures Co., Romania [db_pics/mdpics/MD-38091a.jpg]

A super-elegant specimen of very slightly pink quartz crystals on an exquisitely-trimmed matrix of quartz and sparkly golden pyrite. How the miners got this out of the pocket this way (in 2001, by the way) is anyone’s guess. 7.1 x 5.0 x 4.1 cm

MD-38096 - Stilbite, Quartz - - Archived

We cherry-picked all the best specimens from this very small one-time find of amazingly pretty stilbite bowties on translucent gray stalactitic quartz! 4.2 x 3.3 x 3.2

MD-38097 - Arsenopyrite, Quartz - - Archived

Arsenopyrite, Quartz from Dal'negorsk (Dalnegorsk; Tetyukhe; Tjetjuche; Tetjuche), Primorskiy Kray, Far-Eastern Region, Russia [db_pics/mdpics/MD-38097a.jpg]

Do not let the plentitude of Chinese arsenopyrites turn you off to the exceptionally rare quality of this RUSSIAN combo specimen – an exquisite cluster of bright crystals wrapped around a gemmy, terminated quartz crystal! I doubt many Russian mineral collectors have a more elegant arseno mini than this! This came from a Russian dealer at the Tucson show earlier this year. 4.1 x 2.3 x 1.9 cm

MD-38108 - Quartz (Var: Smoky Quartz) - - Archived

Quartz (Var: Smoky Quartz) from Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil [db_pics/mdpics/MD-38108a.jpg]

A stunningly beautiful specimen of transparent and lustrous, elestial or "fenster" smoky quartz from Minas Gerais, Brazil. The hollow and etched effects on these crystals are remarkable. Minor termination bruising is certainly not a detraction to this very showy piece. Ex Marty Lewadny Collection of Winnipeg, Canada. 8.7 x 5.4 x 4.0 cm
