Truly fine rhodos are gettting harder and harder to scrounge up, now the mine is closed and people are hoarding what is left. This is a fine thumbnail with unusually good aesthetics in combination with quartz. 2.1 x 2 x 1.7 cm

We will have many others for sale, but this was one of the most colorful and rich specimens for its size, which I found at the show. It features lustrous, deep green epidotes covering a crystal cluster of quartz and amethyst. BETTER IN PERSON! 6.4 x 5 x 3.3 cm

A very showy and interesting, historic specimen of this rare copper PHOSPHATE, not to be confused with much more common malachite (a copper carbonate!). This is very old material. 4.1 x 3.4 x 3.1 cm

Fluorite, Quartz, Arsenopyrite from Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China [db_pics/mdpics/MD-32379a.jpg]

Recent mining at the Yaogangixian has turned up these gorgeous combo specimens of PURPLE FLUORITE with glittery crystals of arsenopyrite; this specimen has the added attraction of a fine quartz crystal centered on the specimen. Smaller quartz crystals are intermixed with the fluorites and arsenos. The large quartz crystal has some wear on the top edge, but with the overall piece being this pretty, you can cut it some slack. 8.2 x 6.2 x 4.6 cm

Looking at this large specimen from the display face, it is difficult to tell exactly what is going on. You see what look like prismatic quartz crystals (in form), as well as disk-like shapes, all with a sandy white surface. What it turns out happened, and what you can see from underneath, is that there were seams of layered calcite intermixed with quartz crystals, and a coating of microcrystalline quartz covered the whole surface like snow, leaving this landscape of strange forms. 10.3 x 10.0 x 4.2 cm

Tourmaline, Quartz, Albite, Lepidolite from Pederneira claim, São José da Safira, Doce valley, Minas Gerais, Southeast Region, Brazil [db_pics/mdpics/MD-33186a.jpg]

A very attractive matrix Pederneira specimen, with a classic 5-cm multicolored tourmaline jutting out from behind a gemmy, doubly-terminated quartz crystal. It can be displayed either horizontally or with the crystal vertical (not shown but you get the idea) . Other quartz crystals and platy albites decorate the lepidolite matrix. There is one clean repair on the tourmaline behind the quartz, where it cannot be seen anyhow; but of course, nearly ALL Pederneira pieces have at least one repair – most, more than that – so it is not considered a detraction. 6.6 x 5.8 x 4.2 cm

Quartz (Var: Amethyst), Quartz from Taolin Mine, Yueyang City, Yueyang Prefecture, Hunan Province, China [db_pics/mdpics/MD-33940a.jpg]

A really interesting specimen with a sceptred amethyst on a clear quartz, and then the amethyst also cascades down the side of the quartz crystal to end in a second termination. There is a slight ding at the rear of the upper amethyst term, but overall its in good shape and that is not visible from the front, anyhow, if the piece is displayed properly. This is an old specimen which I purchased from the drawers at the old Pala Intl shoppe, The Collector, some years ago. It is not from any recent find and I have seen no more of this material on the market save a few lesser pieces over the years. 8.7 x 5.5 x 3.6 cm

From the Gary Hansen Collection, this is an exquisite piece with great color contrast and REALLY unusual aestheics for the locale. Largest crystal 1.7 cm. Translucent in person. Super color. 5.8 x 4.4 x 2.0 cm
