6.0 x 5.9 x 3.4 cm. A remarkably unusual piece with starkly isolated crystals of dioptase perched on quartz. The razor-sharp, pristine, major dioptase crystals reach 1.9 cm, fairly good size from any locality. While not gemmy, they are quite translucent. The smaller crystals to the lower left are also complete, though show some minor contacting. This is a unique style of combination, not similar to material yet found at other dioptase localities in the isolation upon crystalline quartz matrix. Ex. Charlie Key.
4.7 x 3.6 x 2.9 cm. A beautiful specimen, really unique in aspect, featuring sharp, sword-like dioptase crystals to about 1.5 cm. They have intense color and great translucency (gemmy when backlit), just popping up out of sparkling, drusy quartz matrix. The combination is really quite unusual, and the stark contrast makes this among the most pretty, even if with smaller crystals, of the specimens from the find. Ex. Charlie Key.
2.6 x 1.0 x 0.8 cm. A sharp single crystal of rather large size, with perfect termination showing a steep and equant point. The whole crystal is highly translucent and actually also "gemmy" in some areas; and it glows when backlit. Complete-all-around, this is a large, dramatic, full thumbnail specimen. A minor bit of associated quartz on one side (see second photo)...again, going to make this a special thumbnail. Ex. Charlie Key.
3.2 x 2.2 x 1.8 cm. This small miniature is the most elegant piece we obtained, and looks like a snake coiled and rising up above its prey. The dioptase is floating, or hanging, or curling, upon this little shard of quartz at its core. All the dioptase is very lustrous, very green, and translucent throughout. A sharp and special specimen, I think. Ex. Charlie Key.
A classic, multicolored 4.25 x 2 x 2 cm tourmaline perched on quartz. The crystal is pristine save for the tiniest of little dings, almost unnoticeable. It is extremely colorful with green-pink-green zoning. A very well-balanced combo piece! 7.6 x 7.4 x 4.8 cm
An interesting and showy specimen with a cluster of quartz crystals hanging off the back of this tourmaline! Not only is the tourmaline unusually blue for this locality, but it is of excellent translucency for the size and has a sharpness you do not often see at the CG. Word has it that the mine is now pinching out after just a few years of prospecting. Each pocket, though small, was quite different from the last. It is a shame to see this mine go the way of odler SD localities! That being said, this piece, because it is so unique in aspect, should be a good investment 5.5 x 4 x 3.5 cm
Rare locality piece - one of the few ever found here on matrix! Also, VERY aesthetic. the tourmaline is dark but has color of classic NR blue. self collected 3 x 1.5 x 1.2 cm
Cute locality piece. self collected 3 x 2.4 x 1 cm
self collected locality piece 3.8 x 1.5 x 1 cm
Sharp cluster of 2 intergrown xls from a suburban development area in San Diego. Never seen others from here!. self collected 2.8 x 2.7 x 0.5 cm
Rare locality piece . self collected 2.1 x 1 x 1 cm
Self-collected smoky from the pocket (early 1986) that produced the black "morion" smoky quartz. The largest is almost exactly the shape of CH-29, but it's 24 inches by 10 inches and in the LA County museum. 3.3 x 1 x 0.8 cm
WOW! A GREAT SMOKY from the County!?!?! WHO KNEW! It is swiss quality, but from San Diego! Perfect Thumb! 2.2 x 2.1 x 1.3 cm
Small but very cute combo! . self collected 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.2 cm
Rare locality piece from urban area! 3.5 x 2.4 x 1.4 cm
