13.8 x 8.4 x 3.9 cm. Three fluorite clusters of intergrown crystals, of a pure, glassy quality, spaced perfectly on a matrix plate covered with snowy micro quartz. The large, rectangular crystal on one end of the matrix measures 3.2 cm.
3.9 x 3.9 x 2.8 cm. A couple of "Herkimer-style" amethyst crystals side-by-side on a bit of quartz matrix; the purple color is beautifully isolated in blushes inside the crystals. Ex. Richard Hauck Collection.
9.8 x 6.9 x 3.9 cm. A highly modified octahedron of glowing, translucent green fluorite, nestled amongst thin plates of sparkly, snowy quartz. The fluorite measures 4 cm across.
12.9 x 3.3 x 2.6 cm. This crystal has been polished on its faces; the better to give a window on what is really interesting about it: it is incredibly richly shot through with mossy green acicular crystals of actinolite which under a good light reflect and glitter in every direction.
8.4 x 7.8 x 6.3 cm. A large, fascinating "Herkimer-style" crystal of slightly smoky quartz from Brazil, distinguished by intense skeletal growth that created triangular patterns, some of them inside the crystal and some as recesses in the surface. The faces are really glassy, and the interior is very transparent.
7.2 x 4.1 x 2.1 cm. Here is a rare wide tabular compound crystal, complete all around and doubly terminated, with a burst of prismatic crystals growing off of one end. There are no attachments - this gorgeous assemblage is a floater. Ex. Richard Hauck Collection.
4.2 x 1.4 x 1.2 cm, 3.8 x 3.3 x 1.4 cm, 3.4 x 2.4 x 1.6 cm. Three pretty, small miniatures of the most prized quartz varietal, rose quartz.
5.0 x 3.7 x 2.4 cm. A sharp, beautiful, 12 x 9 x 6 mm helvite is here perched in the middle of a feldspar matrix, with a gem smoky quartz atop for accent.
This sharp, 2-inch crystal on matrix is regarded by many as world's best for species, for its sharp aesthetics and sparkling surface. A microscopic layer of quartz coats this PERFECT and PRISTINE crystal, giving it an amazing shimmer and sparkle. It is also a perfectly balanced crystal , showing all its terminations fully. Superb! Much better in person - the picture is overlit to show more detail, to the detraction of the true lustre. Ex. Lange Collection 10 x 8 x 6 cm
This is one of the miniatures I have wanted since I first saw the Sussman collection, for sheer weirdness and uniqueness. It features an aesthetic, doubly-terminated quartz crystal perched up on a stalk of matrix and associated with a small orange wulfenite crystal. There is some minor damage to the lower termination of the quartz but only on the rear of it, not the display face. Otherwise the quartz is complete and well-formed all around. Just a quartz, but a VERY significant one for the locality and a display-quality miniature to boot! 3.5 x 3 x 2 cm
11.4 x 6.9 x 6.9 cm. An old Butte specimen of very lustrous crystals of pyrite, intergrown with crystals of milky quartz, on a matrix of massive quartz. Some of the pyrite crystals to one side of the specimen are naturally etched.
5.2 x 3.3 x 1.9 cm. A fine miniature with a very unusual look for a Pakistani combo piece. The focus is this super-gemmy, 4.5-cm aquamarine crystal - actually two crystals grown closely together. Both are glassy, complete and terminated, and even more transparent-looking in person. But the unusual thing that really adds to the aesthetic quality of this piece is the little schorl tourmalines that decorate the quartz crystals the form the matrix for the specimen, contrasting strikingly with the aquamarine and the milky quartz.
6.9 x 4.9 x 4.5 cm. Brazilian crystals of this style are sometimes called "elestials". What you have is an extremely ornate compound crystal, with many sub-crystals and areas of interesting skeletal growth - that has formed around the termination of an underlying crystal.
9.9 x 4.1 x 3.3 cm. A very uncommon fine Kazakh specimen of smoky quartz, with a deep brownish color you can see under good light - the interior is quite transparent. The crystal is doubly-terminated.
9.4 x 7.4 x 7.2 cm. Sticking right out in front from this large quartz cluster is a crystal shot through with golden, acicular crystals of rutile - classic from Minas Gerais. Other smaller crystals have the rutile inclusions as well.
