Dolomite crystals of this quality are rare from any location, and these translucent blades are heavily decorated by minute crystals of iridescent pyrrhotite (and some cubanite) to make them stand out. A very 3-dimensional specimen, overall! Bladed rosettes of lustrous, translucent dolomite to 4.5 cm across, are aesthetically emplaced on a colorless, gemmy, 7.0 cm across, quartz crystal. Usually one sees gemmy green siderite with minor dolomite but this is a superb PRIMARILY-dolomite specimen from one of the world’s deepest gold mines, and a fine source for good specimens as well (though miners bring them out at risk of losing their jobs!)

Classic old material, the Santa Eulalia pyrrhotites are seldom seen on the market today in any quality. Superb, columnar, doubly terminated, pyrrhotite crystals, to 4 cm in length with good luster and a tan color , are partially covered by a druse of calcite. There are even a few lustrous and translucent, colorless fluorite crystals, to 5 mm across, attached to the pyrrhotite - I had not personally seen this association before out of thousands of Naica pieces I have seen since the 1980s. The crust of calcite fluoresces a dark reddish brown when lit in UV. The piece displays well horizontal or vertical

Two, sharp and unusually isolated, pastel green fluorite crystals to 3.75 cm across are aestheically perced high on a galena and pyrite matrix. The fluorites fluoresce a medium lavender color. Interestingly, the pyrites are weird bladed habits…and surely they are pseudomorph replacements of earlier pyrrhotite but now with the pyrite composition, and sparkle and coloration to boot. This is a flashy piece in person, with sparkle off of all three species present.

A solid mass of lustrous, brassy-yellow crystals of pyrrhotite, to 2.5 cm in length, is surmounted by a single quartz crystal on one side. The other side is solid pyrrhotite. The quartz is an unusual association on the pyrrhotite, and is lustrous and translucent. The back side has several small spheres of what might be iron oxides attached. Overall a great example of this old classic find

A matrix of splendent, intergrown, battleship gray galena crystals to 1 cm across, along with a druse of colorless quartz crystals, is the host to tabular crystals of pyrrhotite that have been pseudomorphed to sparkling, brassy yellow pyrite. The original form of the pyrrhotite is preserved nicely! The piece overall is sparkling and bright

Classic old material - seldom seen today in quality! Before Dalnegorsk material came to market from Russia, these were widely considered the best pyrrhotites around, and now they are dramatically discounted compared to prices brought in former days. However, they still hav egreat impact for form and color, and the importance of being from this locale. A large, blocky, doubly terminated crystal of bronze colored pyrrhotite, measuring 5 cm in length, is attached to another crystal that has been contacted on the back side. Interestingly, the basal terminations exhibit a much lighter bronze color than the sides. Superb old classic

This is a truly unique specimen in our experience! It is a sinuous stalactite composed of lustrous, light brown, crystals of pyrrhotite, to 2 cm in length , which are partially covered on one side by sparkling tan rosettes of siderite to 5 mm across. At one time, Martin Zinn had the finest stalactite collection I ever saw. This specimen would have been worthy of that collection, or any Mexican minerals or sulfides collection.

A large cluster of intergrown pyrrhotite crystals, to 2.6 cm across, a few of which are doubly terminated. They exhibit matte luster and a superb bronze patina, which gives them a very interestign color tone. The back side is not complete, but the front is complete and pristine. It looks like it is alive and moving, as the crystals curve around each other.

Four species on one specimen , with style! Here we have elongated crystals, to 2.8 cm in length, of finely crystallized, splendent, brassy yellow pyrite which have pseudomorphed (replaced) elongated pyrrhotite crystals. though the form is unusual, both the form for pyrrhotite and this replacement is well documented at this locale, and considered an old classic find. These are perched, along with lustrous black crystals of sphalerite to 3 cm across, on milky, translucent quartz crystals to 4 cm in length. All are of high quality and stick out in different directions like they were stuck into a pincushion, making this a very 3-dimensional specimen.

This incredible large specimen is the finest large pyrrho I have seen since handling the well-known "Freilich specimen," from Sotheby's, in 2001. That piece was bigger, but this one is more elegant and significant because of the larger size of the pyrrhotite clusters. And I have seen a lot of them! The piece has stark , 3-dimensional clusters leaping off of crystallized quartz matrix. Despite the massiveness of the pyrrhotite clusters, their bright brassy color and curving form give them an elegance that a similarly sized galena or sphalerite would not have. the piece looks almost biological, with "snakes" of golden pyrrhotite "climbing" up the matrix to jump off the top like lemmings. The specimen is complete on all sides but the back, where it is naturally contacted. It was mined in 1996, I am told. On the whole specimen, there are just a few small spots of edge wear and thats it. It is nearly pristine, remarkable given the size and composition. Here is a world class example of the species, at a frankly bargain price. But, I got it cheaply, myself, so....

This is an outstanding miniature of a splendent, bronze colored pyrrhotite crystal, 2.3 cm in length and partially wreathed by a quartz crust. Found in 1989 at the Cambokeels Mine, Weardale by a miner: E. Golightly. The contrast of the metallic crystal and the the quartz crust is outstanding. This is a very rare, aesthetic, and unusually sharply isolated crystal for the finds here which came at the very end of the mine's working life. It is a dramatic piece from any locale, but particularly significant for an example of the species from England

This is an aesthetic miniature composed of splendent, brassy yellow, pyrrhotite crystals to 1.7 cm in length. The crystals, intergrown , are elegant and slightly curving. Found in 1990 at the 320-325 level of the Cambokeels Mine in Weardale: Pyrrhotite is in fact extremely rare in the UK and these distinct crystals are significant for the species from this country. More than that, they are uniquely pretty and aesthetic, as well.

Exemplary cluster of sharp, well-defined Pyrrhotite crystals with excellent brassy color, great metallic luster. The superb single is 1.5 cm long, doubly-terminated (one complete, one half due to intergrowth), while the complex 'stacked' crystal is about 2.5 cm long. Old classic for this locale, seldom so nicely formed, though. Regardless of size, this is unquestionably one of the most aesthetic Pyrrhotites I have ever come across.

Superb cluster of at least eight well-defined Pyrrhotite crystals resting on a matrix of excellent Sphalerite crystals and crystalline-to-massive Galena. The largest Pyrrhotite is 2.8 cm across with excellent luster and striations. The habit is fantastic, and to have the main Pyrrhotite sitting up on matrix in such an unusually isolated manner creates incredible aesthetics for this piece.
