4JA10 - Pyromorphite - $ 95 SOLD Bunker Hill Mine, Kellogg, Idaho, USA thumbnail, 2.5 x 1.2 x 1.2 cm
Beautiful orange botryoids with superb luster. One of the classic localities. Complete all around except only the back quarter of the smaller ball.
4JG13 - Pyromorphite - $ 295 SOLD Bunker Hill Mine, Kellogg, Idaho, USA thumbnail, 3.3 x 1.3 x .7 cm
Lustrous set of climbing stacked hoppers with a color ranging from yellow to light green. A pristine, complete killer of a specimen from one of the world’s great localities circa mid-1980s when the best yellow-greens were found.
4JG53 - Pyromorphite - $ 1500 SOLD Les Farges Mine, Ussel, Corrèze, Limousin, France miniature, 4 x 2.5 x 2 cm
WOW! To my mind, the most beautiful and desirable Pyromorphites have come out of Les Farges, and this is no exception. The specimen has great aesthetics: wonderful hoppered crystals and overall form, superb luster, and the deep green color that Les Farges is MOST famous for. The lustre actually LOOKS wet, as if oiled (but it is not!). It is nearly pristine though there are admittedly a few very trivial broken crystals around the periphery. Specimens with this top-percentile color beat anything new out of China or Bunker Hill, hands down. However, they are extremely rare on the market! This is a killer miniature for somebody who wants the best quality from one of the most important historic green pyro localities. I know this collector regarded the piece as one of his prizes, and I fully agree.
4ZPY1 - Pyromorphite - $ 775 SOLD Bunker Hill Mine, Kellogg, Idaho, USA miniature, 6.0 x 4.0 x 2.0 cm ex. John Schneider
A gorgeous botryoidal arsenian pyromorphite on matrix from the Bunker Hill Mine: The largest cluster is 1.2 centimeters across and the piece is remarkable for the unusual separation of the clusters - most specimens of this habit are simply continuous plates and masses. This specimen probably dates back to a noted discovery in the early 1980’s.
4ZPY10 - Pyromorphite - $ 750 SOLD Madjarovo, East Rhodope Mtns, Bulgaria miniature, 3.0 x 3.0 x 2.9 cm ex. John Schneider
Extremely aesthetic group of tan ,barrel-shaped crystals that exhibit hoppered growth. Sitting on these larger crystals are slender acicular shaped pyros (The largest crystal is over 1.5cm. long). There is a small amount of sparkly sulfide matrix material which adds highlights to this piece. This is just a killer locality miniature, but more than that it is so unique and interesting in form that it really adds a lot to a pyro suite.
4ZPY11 - Pyromorphite - $ 350 SOLD Bunker Hill Mine, Kellogg, Idaho, USA miniature, 3.25 x 2.5 x 2.2 cm ex. John Schneider
Classic apple green barrel shaped crystals on matrix from the first room sized vug found at the Bunker Hill mine in 1980. Largest crystal is .8 cm. long. If this piece was twice its present size, the price on it would increase at least ten-fold! It is a very special miniature, at a relative bargain price for such color and quality
4ZPY12 - Pyromorphite - $ 850 Resuperferolitica Mine, Cerro De la Canaleja, Santa Eufemia, Cordoba, Spain miniature, 3.7 x 2.6 x 2.1 cm ex. John Schneider
A pleasing, tan-colored, sculptural growth of hoppered crystals. This is a very old DANA locality, and I had not seen such a nice piece before on the market. It is a very aesthetic specimen by ANY standards however. This pyro is doubly terminated and is nearly pristine . For combination of form and rarity, this is one of my favorite pyros in the collection!
4ZPY13 - Pyromorphite - $ 575 SOLD Chailllac Deposit, Indre, Centre, France miniature, 4.6 x 3.4 x 2.2 cm ex. John Schneider
Apple green,fan-like display of small acicular pyros on matrix. These crystals are GORGEOUS: extremely lustrous and gemmy. The location of this deposit, while near LeFarges,is much less known ,Therefore, these pieces are rarer.
4ZPY14 - Pyromorphite - $ 1250 SOLD Wheatley Mine, Pheonixville, Chester Co., Pennsylvania, USA miniature, 4.7 x 3.5 x 2.1 cm ex. John Schneider
A forest green group of small crystals ON MATRIX from a great American classic locality that has been closed for more than 100 years. Often we see just crusts or thick coatings that completely hide the matrix; but this cluster rests nicely on a well-trimmed rock matrix that gives it better display and contrast than usual! These pieces are few and far between. Most pyro collectors must have one or more of these rarities for their collections to be complete.
4ZPY15 - Pyromorphite - $ 750 SOLD Bunker Hill Mine, #9 level, Jersey Vein, Kellogg, Idaho, USA miniature, 3.5 x 2.2 x 2.0 cm ex. John Schneider
Barrel shaped crystals of a greenish –yellow color, possibly arsenian, most likely from the second great find at Bunker Hill. The largest crystal is in excess of 1.5 cm. and ALL of the crystals appear to be doubly terminated. It is a gorgeous, pristine specimen that is complete all around and has lots of eye appeal! Collected by Norm Radford in 1981
4ZPY16 - Pyromorphite - $ 295 Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia miniature, 3.9 x 1.8 x 1.7 cm ex. John Schneider
Elongated, lustrous, barrel shaped crystals of a deep chocolate brown from the premier deposit of Broken Hill in NSW,Australia. This is old material, and crystals of this size are really hard to obtain! It is remarkably pristine on the display face, though one large crystal is broken on the backside. The largest crystal exceeds 2.7cm. which is large for BH. Again, the mere presence of this quality from this old deposit is rare.
4ZPY17 - Pyromorphite - $ 395 Les Farges Mine, Ussel, Correze, France miniature, 3.6 x 2.9 x 2.6 cm ex. John Schneider
This is a cluster of brown ,hexagonal crystals of pyromorphite with a secondary growth of small, acicular, grass green pyros with just juicy color to them! To me ,it looks like a cactus! Once more, this mineral shows off its myriad forms.
4ZPY18 - Pyromorphite - $ 135 SOLD Resuperferolitica Mine, Cerro De la Canaleja, Santa Eufemia, Cordoba, Spain miniature, 3.6 x 2.0 x 2.0 cm ex. John Schneider
Pale green group of small crystals with a few larger crystals showing hoppered growth . The largest hopper is displayed in the front center and is just under 1 cm across. Interesting locality piece!
4ZPY19 - Pyromorphite - $ 295 SOLD Bunker Hill Mine,Kellogg,Idaho, USA miniature, 4.9 x 3.0 x 2.0 cm ex. John Schneider
This is a group of acicular, orange, arsenian pyros perched on a pleasing color contrasting matrix. Longest crystal rosette group measures 1.5cm. across. I like the fact that this specimen doesn’t conform to the typical botryoidal form of the arsenian variety of pyromorphite; even though it does have the typical high luster of other Bunker Hill arsenian pyros.
4ZPY2 - Pyromorphite - $ 1250 Daoping Lead-Zinc Mine, Yangshao, Guilin, Guangxi Province, China miniature, 3.9 x 3.1 x 2.4 cm ex. John Schneider
This specimen has one of the most unusual crystallizations of any pyromorphite I have seen from ANY locality: The top crystal spreads out in a flower-like, hoppered growth atop the pedestal of lesser crystals. It is, even amongst thousands of specimens from the locality, very unique! The crystal measures 3 cm across atop.
