9.2 x 8.2 x 3.4 cm. Incredible quality! Cubes to 2.7 cm on edge, intricately and minutely beveled, make this a VERY fine pyrite specimen that stands far above the crowd. Ex. Charlie Key Collection.

10.1 x 6.6.9 x 6.3 cm. You could hardly ask for a more strikingly aesthetic example of a Missouri calcite than this one! Three golden, translucent crystals, the largest measuring 6 cm, rise from a matrix covered with sparkly golden pyrite. The calcites are more transparent and less "milky white" in person than they appear in the photos. Ex. Feist Collection.

7.6 x 6.8 x 5.6 cm. If you can get past the fact that they are "just" pyrites, you have to admit that these PERFECT cubes on matrix from Spain are amongst the most striking crystals in the mineral kingdom. Non-mineral people usually cannot believe that they form naturally, in fact! This is a LARGE, PRISTINE cube, wonderfully isolated and fully exposed on the matrix. It measures 2.2 cm on edge and has a mirror-golden luster. A fabulous-looking specimen!

Pyrite, Calcite from Chenzhong (?), Hunan Province, China [db_pics/mdpics/MD-135013a.jpg]

14.5 x 12.4 x 6.4 cm. This was one of last year's remarkable Chinese finds - large crystals of translucent calcite with edges that look as if painted by bright, golden pyrite! Alas, they dried up pretty quickly - any you see now are from old stock. This is a large and rich one.

13.4 x 10.9 x 8.9 cm. This is a very large, spectacular Eastern European specimen. It is a dazzling burst of frosty, slender quartz crystals, to 5 cm, festooned with sparkly golden pyrite, and you can see euhedral crystals of sphalerite here and there nestled amongst the quartz crystals as well. Dazzling!

9.9 x 9.4 x 5.4 cm. Japanese rhodochrosites are world classics that are extremely hard to find now. Sometimes, you get this beautiful pyrite association - in this case, a rich covering of sparkly golden pyrite contrasting with the underlying blanket of salmon-pink rhodo. This old-timer came out of the collection of H.J. Siber.

7.0 x 4.8 x 4.0 cm. An old-time, very showy, floater calcite scalenohedron from a CLASSIC Scotland locality. The sharp, lustrous and translucent, light-gray crystal is richly included with pyrite microcrystals. This fine specimen is a complete all-around floater, with only a very small contacted area on the back. Ex. E.G. Tribbey and Brent Lockhart Collections.

5.5 x 3.1 x 2.4 cm. A super showy and cute piece of ultra-sparkly, silvery pyrite microcrystals coating a sharp, 2.6 cm calcite rhomb jauntily set on a wedge of banded calcite. A fine Australian piece from the Marty Zinn Collection #2169. MUCH BETTER in person. Rare material from a small find, of which we have seen only a few specimens over the years.

12.1 x 8.7 x 4.4 cm. Unfortunately, the specimens from this find not too long back in China ran out quickly. It is certainly unique: brassy little pyrite crystals decorating the edges of large, tabular, translucent crystals of calcite. This one has a good rich covering of the pyrites.

10.4 x 9.5 x 7.4 cm. The specimens from this UNIQUE find in China dried up quickly awhile back. I say unique because there really is nothing else that looks quite like these: large calcite crystals whose edges are decorated with bright, golden clusters made up of tiny balls of pyrite crystals! This is a large one, with a rich covering of the pretty pyrite.

1.0 x 3.1 x 3.1 cm. A beautifully symmetrical, highly arching, nearly pristine, lustrous pyritized Spirifer brachiopod from the Devonian of Sylvania, Ohio. This specimen has excellent bi-lateral symmetry and comes from a quarry west of Toledo. The little attached pod of pyrite on the bottom is a very nice and umcommon accent.
