A dramatic fluorite specimen from an unusual locality for me, this piece has special aesthetics. The fluorites, teal blue and multicolored, are perched atop a nice quartz stalk. While flattish/rough in back, the fluorite is actually complete all around. A sparkly druse of microscopic little pyrite crystals adds a glitter effect to parts of the surface. Sharp geometry and color, combined with the quartz perch, really make this stand out. This was found in 2011.

A really fine, realy sharp, miraculously undamaged cube of classic Spanish pyrite! It is complete and symmetric ALL around save only for one smaller crystal growing at an angle out of one face (can be displayed on the back if that bother you - i like it, personally).

A rather unusual large plate of bournonite crystals, all showing sharp UNTWINNED crystals to 2.25 cm in size. This is actually more uncommon, compared to the twinne dform of the mineral. The crystals form this locality are sharp and gun-metal lustrous, making for very dramatic bournonites. The matrix contrasts a bit more in person than it appears, and is coated with sparkly druse of other sulfides such as pyrite. This is a rich, large, unrepaired piece of high quality from the amazing finds here of several years ago.

This species reaches its zenith from this locality. Tabular, iridescent, purplish-blue, crystals of covellite, to 2.5 cm across, are associated with bright, golden, pyrite crystals. There is minor chipping on the right side of the covellite crystals, but this is trivial in context and it is in better shape than most others I have seen, plus has superb 3-dimensionality and displays better than the usual lumpy specimens we see. OLD CLASSIC,, now nearly impossible to get, especially in competition quality specimens!

Really odd, disc-shaped galena crystals to 1 inch surmount a nice knoll of bright pyrite, on this old classic. It is a fine specimen, complete all around, and actually quite attractive in person. This is old material from the 1940s-1960s, I am told.

An exceptional specimen of pyrite. The luster and color are both good, but what really makes this thumb are the elongated complex crystals that are intergrown in such a way as to appear twinned (and wouldn’t that be amazing). There are many good pyrites, but few so unusual.

Pyrite from

Wonderful lustrous modified pyritohedron from a locality known for its fluorescent minerals. I am told that these came out in the late 1800's, mostly, and that this is a sharp piece. A very good Pyrite in and of itself, but also for the locality.

These wonderful intergrown Galenas are from a small, but very well known, locality in Ireland. The luster is very good, but what makes this such a great specimen are the dodecahedral modifications. Normally, the rhombal faces are square, with the hexagonal faces nowhere close to equilateral. Here, it is reversed! The hexagonal faces are virtually equilateral with the minor faces as perfect rectangles. This is such a great specimen for luster, aesthetics, and habit!

I could not believe it when I saw this thing…a GIANT cluster of perfect, pristine, floater pyrite crystals, the largest to 4 cm. The surface has a beautiful, dark patina to it. While I have seen many small pyrites from the Dallas area, I have never seen such a large one in any kind of perfect condition like this. I bought it from a local collector who got it years ago. It is complete all around and, for a Texas mineral, very imposing! Joe Budd photos

This deposit has produced thousands of pyrite specimens but, not many as nice as this piece which is outstanding. A single, equant, bright metallic cube of pyrite measuring prceisely 1 inch square sits perched on matrix (possibly stabilized or repaired after coming off in preparation as are most such specimens). This IS from top percentile material for the finds.

Considering that this is an "oldtimer" from Leadville, it is in remarkably good condition. The bright mirror luster and intergrown pyrite cubes to 2 cm, along with the sculptured appearance, make this specimen one of the nicest specimens I have seen from this venerated old locality. Old Burminco label.

This slightly elongated, almost pristine pyrite crystal, which measures 3 cm in length, sits jauntily on its clay matrix. It exhibits the finest mirror –like metallic luster. Of the many thousands of these that I have seen, the quality and aesthetic arrangement makes this particular piece stand out! Note that most of these are prepped and the pyrites fall out but get put back in after the trimming out is done, so it is most likely repaired.
