WOW. This is one of the finest specimens to come from a small well dig, about 7 years ago, that really redefined what you could get for a top powellite. This is not only one of the best specimens, but one of the largest crystals, for the find and for the species. it is complete all around, and is both colorful and lustrous. The crysatl is as close to pristine as you could wish for, and nearly all of the scolecites are also intact. It is a phenomenal specimen that caused rumours when sold to Marty by KC Pandey at the munich show, when they came out. It has resided with Marty ever since, and it was one of the top pieces in the collection for my own personal taste. 8 x 5 x 5 cm
Aesthetically perched on, and surrounded by, acicular scolecite crystals, is a cream colored, doubly terminated, translucent, satin lustered, powellite crystal that measures a whopping 3 cm on edge or just over 4 cm across the long way. The scolecite crystals get up to 6 cm in length and are colorless and lustrous. The few unterminated scolecite crystals do not affect the overall quality of the specimen. It is amazing to see such a perch for the powellite, and it really enhances the overall aesthetics of the powellite crystal to be in such a "nest" 7.9 x 7.3 x 5.6 cm
An unusual association piece! Nestled among colorless, gemmy fluorapophyllite crystals are several tan, bi-pyramidal powellite crystals. Both species are very lustrous. The largest fl-apophyllite crystal is 2 cm and the largest powellite is 1.5 cm. Powellite, which forms a series with scheelite, is calcium molybdate, and reaches its zenith in India. 5.9 x 5.3 x 3 cm
Glassy, colorless, fluorapophyllite crystals, to 2 cm in length, adorn a cluster of tan, lustrous and translucent, powellite crystals, which measure 2.5 cm in length. The lustre and sparkle on this powellite is incredible! Powellite, which forms a series with scheelite, is at its peak in India. This is a very interesting and showy combinaiton piece from a new pocket! 4.3 x 2.1 x 2 cm
A superb doubly-terminatedcluster of , tan, lustrous and translucent, crystals sits on a druse of colorless, fluorapophyllite. The powellite cluster measures 2.5 cm in length. Once again, nowhere in the world does powellite occur, as well crystallized or as large as it does in India. 4.3 x 4.1 x 1.8 cm
Thumbnail collectors arise! This competition quality specimen has lustrous, pink blades of stilbite, to 2 cm long, topped by a cluster of tan, translucent and lustrous powellite crystals, to 2 cm in length. Superb example of the species in tn size, and on matrix no less! 2.2 x 2.1 x 1.8 cm
A BEAUTIFUL, lustrous, translucent, frosted and striated amber powellite crystal from the BRAND NEW find at Ahmednagar, India. This showy pyramidal piece is complete all-around. 2.9 x 2.6 x 2.0 cm
A large, sharp, translucent, frosted, amber powellite crystal from the BRAND NEW find at Ahmednagar, India. Nicely pyramidal. These are rather large for the species! 3.4 x 3.2 x 2.0 cm

From a matrix of .5 cm hematite-included stilbite rise two crystals of sharp, diverging, lustrous beige powellites to 4 cm. Both powellites are doubly terminated and for added aesethetics there is a 2 cm blade of stilbite between the two powellites. The contrast of colors as well as the diverging nature of the powellites makes this piece a winner. 4 cm in size makes them significant, too! i have NEVER HAD such good powellites so cheaply as at this recent show/find.
This is an absolutely perfect white, translucent powellite crystal that is 3 cm tall, perched on beige stilbite. If the color of the powellite had been a lustrous peach, like those of twenty years ago, the price of this specimen would be many kilobucks. But, I also like these new stark white crysatls as they really stand out and leap to the eye in a way that the older cream-colored powellites did not
Once extremely rare, and still rare in good crystals like this one, powellite from India far outshines those from anywhere else in the world (especially for the relatively lower prices for huge crystals!). It is obvious from its tetragonal form that it resembles its far more plentiful relation, scheelite - this one more than most. The lustrous cream colored main crystal is 2cm tall and sits on a small amount of matrix.
On an unusally colorful matrix of stilbite sits a lustrous, white composite crystal of powellite. This crystal exceeds 4 cm in length, which is relatively huge. However, to my thinking, this specimen is further refined by the remarkable sharp terminations at the top of the powellite.
