MD-210706 - Planerite, Wavellite - - Archived Mauldin Mt., Montgomery Co., Arkansas, USA cabinet, 11.4 x 8.8 x 5.0 cm.
11.4 x 8.8 x 5.0 cm. The little-known mineral planerite forms a series with turquoise, and as you can see, looks a lot like it, but a bit on the green side rather than more bluish. Here, it coats a layer of wavellite, from the premier wavellite locality of Mauldin Mountain in Arkansas; you can see the familiar balls, which are formed of radial, acicular crystals. Ex. Clyde Hardin Collection.
MD-57219 - Planerite - - Archived Mauldin Mt., Montgomery Co., Arkansas, USA small cabinet, 5.6 x 5.1 x 1.6cm
This mineral is one of the lesser known members of the Turquiose group. In fact, it was stated by the late, great mineralogist Gene Foord, that the majority of the Turquoise thats out on the market today is actually Planerite ! He did extensive analysis on a large number of specimens and found that Planerite is actually more common than people might think. This specimen has a coverage of small light green spheres of Planerite on both sides of the piece. A good piece for this locality. 5.6 x 5.1 x 1.6cm
MRZ181 - Planerite - $ 150 SOLD Mount Ida, Hot Springs area, Arkansas, USA miniature, 3.6 x 2.4 x 2.3 cm ex. Martin Zinn
Superb locality specimen of the aluminum phosphate, planerite: rare for the locality and just a pretty miniature that would stand out in any group of Arkansas minerals, few of which have any color like this to them.
