D10-41 - Pinnoite - $ 400 SOLD Lake Inder deposit, Atyrau, Atyrau Province, Kazakhstan small cabinet, 8.0 x 6.6 x 4.0 cm ex. Al Ordway
Sparkling, gemmy and transparent crystals of pinnoite, a very rare borate, form a palm-sized specimen here. The crystals individually reach 3-4 mm and are very sharp. They are embedded in a matrix of other borates (massive). Rare, old material from this important borate locality. Obtained in 2002 from Fersman Museum. Pinnoite, in crystallized form, for some reason does NOT occur at the other most famous specimen locales for borates, in the Death Valley and other mines near Boron, California; and in Turkey.

8 x 6 x 4 cm. A very rich and beautiful specimen of this rare species from the famous borate deposits at Lake Inder. Glistening, translucent aggregates to just under 1 cm abound on this 3-dimensional matrix. Ex. Martin Zinn Collection.
MRZ351 - Pinnoite - $ 450 SOLD Lake Inder salt dome, Atyrau, Caspian Plain, Kazakhstan small cabinet, 8 x 6 x 4 cm ex. Martin Zinn
A very rich and (relatively) beautiful specimen of this rare species from the famous borate deposits at Lake Inder! Glistening , translucent aggregates to just under 1 cm abound on this 3-dimensional matrix. For some reason, pinnoite does not crystallize well at other fmaous boron deposits such as in California. These are the best I have seen on the market , as a general rule, for the species. This particular piece is the only one i have had in several years.
