Pezzottaite is one of the great new gem discoveries of the last 20 years. It is a Cesium bearing Beryl species discovered in Madagascar a few years ago, and is only found in two localities in the world. It is definitely one of the most rare and beautiful gems on the market today regardless of the rarity. It is actually one of the great combinations of rarity and beauty that puts it into an elite category of gems. This material was originally thought to be a variety of Beryl, but now stands as its own species. This material has one of the most unique colors in the gem world with a very rich, intense, distinctive pink which truly doesn't resemble any other gem. This is a beautiful stone with a lively rich pink color and an Emerald cut. This gem has obvious inclusions (like most stones over 1 carat), but does have clean gem areas. The supply of Pezzottaite seems to have dwindled to virtually nothing in the past year or so, and the price of the top stones is on the rise. A great rare gem for any collector. This stone was cut by Brett Kosnar.

A sharp hexagonal crystal of the very rare red beryl species only identified in the last decade, and now very hard to come by on the market! No new crystals of this quality have been found since 2003, I am reliably told. This one is not quite complete, with a bit of edge wear on two lower edges, but it is good-sized and showy. It is 29.5 carats. Ex. Ron Pellar thumbnail collection. Joe Budd photos.

3.3 x 3.2 x 2.0 cm. Pezzottaite is a rare Cesium-rich member of the Beryl group. It is named after Dr. Federico Pezzotta of Milan, Italy and was approved by the IMA in September 2003. This specimen is from the type locality in Ambatovita, Madagascar. Pezzottaite crystals are a beautiful, vibrant, purplish-pink color, and this piece is no exception with a pair of very attractive, well formed, hexagonal rich pink crystals on beautifully contrasting black Schorl and white Albite matrix. This is definitely one of the most beautiful and highly publicized new minerals in the last few years. This material is now virtually mined out and there may never be any more specimens from Madagascar in the coming years.

Pezzottaite crystals are a beautiful, vibrant, pink color, and this piece is no exception with a very attractive, well formed, hexagonal rich pink crystal on beautifully contrasting Albite, Muscovite and Schorl matrix. There is also a small bit of blue-green Amazonite on the specimen. This is definitely one of the most beautiful and highly publicized new minerals in the last few years. This material is now virtually mined out and there may never be any more specimens from Madagascar in the coming years. The gem value of this material has gone through the roof over the last few years, and with the supply of good matrix Pezzottaite specimens dwindling, these are certain to go up in value.

3.3 x 2 x .4 cm. A gem crystal of the very rare, recently discovered-and-described (2002) mineral Pezzotaite, a flat, hexagonal form of red beryl. This upper half of the sharp, 5 g hexagonal crystal is complete, and it is gemmy. Very good color and luster. Ex. Charlie Key.

An interesting lilac-colored crystal that is definitely not nearly as red as most, but is rather a bit more lavender in hue. To me, this uniqueness is a plus and not a detraction. This is a complete crystal, perched against an albite shard which is in back of it and which you can see through the crystal because it is so transparent and gemmy. In fact, its one of the most downright transparent crystals I have had from this find (Note: Dr. Pezzotta tells me no new crystals have been found in over a year. All that came out have now hit the market and if you go to any show you will notice how few are left available. ) 1.6 x 1.2 x 0.5 cm

1.1 x 0.8 x 0.3 cm. Pezzottaite is the very rare cesium analogue of beryl, first discovered in 2002. This sharp, gemmy and lustrous, vivid pink crystal has textbook tabular, hexagonal crystal form. These caused a lot of excitement when they came out and were at first, called raspberry beryl. A very highly desired and rare gem species. No more has been found since 2005 so far as I know.

2 x 1.4 x .6 cm. A lovely, gem-quality, bladed crystal with excellent reddish-pink color. For form, color, and gem-quality, this is a superb pezzottaite with these aesthetics. Wendell bought this soon after they came out, and such sharp and gemmy crystals are hard to come by now. Ex. Wendell E. Wilson Collection.

An extremely rare and unusually AFFORDABLE matrix specimen of the new red beryl species Pezzottaite, named after Federico Pezzotta for his love of pegmatite minerals and work on bringing this amazing deposit to light. The piece features two bubbly, maroon-colored crystals each measuring 8 mm across, perched nicely on contrasting white cleavelandite matrix. It is a bit better in person, I think. This specimen was exchanged from Dr. Pezzotta.

This is a lovely, rich pink, translucent to transparent, well formed, lustrous, tabular, crystal of beryl. This is the newly discovered and named pezzotaite, or cesium-rich beryl species. I bought this from the very first finds, before they were even identified as a new species in 2002, and sold it to Irv at that time. Today, they are obviously much more expensive but beyond that, good symmetric crystals are hard to find. 1.6 x 1.3 x 0.6 cm (10.5 carats)

This mineral species was found and described only in the last five years, yet it is a stunning addition to the beryl family. The superb, rose pink color of this cesium-rich beryl is truly incredible. And the luster and transparency and crystal size all add to the aura of this new species. This crystal is both unusually glassy and unusually gemmy, thus of superb quality. 1.7 x 1.1 x 0.3 cm
