When these lighter, teal-blue crystals were found, they were thought to be cavansite, but recent work has proven them to be the orthorhombic dimorph, pentagonite, which is much rarer than cavansite. This specimen consists of a cluster of pentagonite crystals sitting on matrix. Individual crystals reach nearly 1 cm in length. They are extremely lustrous. Viewing this piece through a hand lens reveals many tiny water clear calcite crystals on the pentagonite.

Pentagonite, a rare orthorhombic dimorph of Cavansite, has certainly been one of the more spectacular mineral discoveries of recent years. Sprays of Pentagonite are known for spectacular form, color, and luster. In this case, you have two stunning Pentagonite "Christmas tress" averaging 1.5 cm in height, very nicely paired together and spalying up from the matrix!. There are even Calcite rhombs sitting on each spray. An excellent specimen, and even better in person - this is a lot of pentagonite, and very displayable, for the price

Spectacular spray of razor-sharp blades that have a gorgeous deep blue color. The photo says it all, and it is even BETTER in person. This is as fine a Pentagonite thumbnail as you will find. It GLOWS WITH ELECTRIC neon-blue color, and all the elongated crystals are gemmy. (CANNOT BE MAILED...well, maybe it can, but i'd prefer not to risk it)

A killer, and much better in person. It GLOWS WITH ELECTRIC neon-blue color, and all the elongated crystals are gemmy. (CANNOT BE MAILED...well, maybe it can, but i'd prefer not to risk it)

I had to pull out the thesaurus for this specimen, it is that spectacular! The three lustrous and razor-sharp Pentagonite crystals (up to 1.6 cm!) sit perfectly balanced within the vug, and they have the classic deep blue color that is so highly desired for the species and so rare in the mineral kingdom. This miniature is nonpareil, desirable and superlative. It is just an amazing piece...to have such long, gemmy crystals, and have them so immaculately protected in a perfectly-sized vug for the collector, not too big and not too small, that displays them so nicely....i mean, its ridiculous. And, its mailable, safely.

Recent mining for cavansite has also uncovered the world’s finest pentagonite crystals (a dimorph of cavansite with different crystal form, these showing much twinning). This rare mineral occurs here as a Christmas tree-shaped cluster of 1.7 cm in length, with lustrous and translucent, rich, neon-blue, crystals. The pentagonite is nestled protectively in a vug of lustrous, translucent, colorless, stilbite crystals. Just lovely!

Teal blue, clusters of lustrous Pentagonite , to 1.5 cm across, are nestled in a vug of drusy, lustrous, ivory colored stilbite. The stilbite is VERY glassy, unusually so. The Pentagonite is very bright blue, unusually so. together, a stark contrast! The specimen has, overall, a very rich amount of Pentagonite and for the price is one of the better deals on pentagonite i have been able to offer over the years. It is more 3-dimensional in person and retains the appearance of a natural cavity with some depth. Sawed in the back during removal, but no saw marks visible on front .
