D06-230 - Pargasite - $ 2400 Haramosh, Gilgit, Pakistan small cabinet, 6.2 x 5.7 x 4.6 cm
One of the more spectacular examples I have yet seen of the species for both size AND color intensity! This piece features a sharp crystal, to just under an inch, of the most intense green color imagineable. This is incredible for the species, normally a gray or black ugly rock-former!
MD-252707 - Pargasite - - Archived Haramosh Mts., Gilgit District, Northern Areas, Pakistan small cabinet, 6.2 x 5.7 x 4.6 cm.
6.2 x 5.7 x 4.6 cm. One of the more spectacular examples I have yet seen of the species for both size and color intensity, This piece features a sharp crystal, to just under an inch, of the most intense green color imaginable.
MD-269853 - Pargasite - - Archived Mogok, Sagaing District, Mandalay Division, Burma (Myanmar) small cabinet, 6.2 x 4 x 3.6 cm.
6.2 x 4 x 3.6 cm. These came out in the late 1990s, labeled as being from China; and later it turns out that they came over the border from Burma. They are certainly the most beautiful known examples of this species, normally relegated to a rather dull, unattractive, dark-colored rock-former. This piece is striking, featuring a 1.8 cm crystal of superb color, lustre, and saturated green hue. It is of exceptional quality, compared to the common sort still available today when you can get it. Ex. Martin Zinn Collection.
MD-57094 - Spinel, Pargasite - - Archived Luc Yen, Yenbai (Yen Bai) Province, Vietnam small cabinet, 7.1 x 4.4 x 4.4cm
An amazing specimen of intergrown spinel and pargasite - the spinel being a huge compound crystal an inch across, growing around grass-green pargasite! This wonderful combo is set off by a matrix of stark white marble, which can be instantly trimmed to a smaller size if you wish. 7.1 x 4.4 x 4.4cm
MD-60727 - Pargasite - - Archived http://www.mindat.org/mesg-7-69925.html] small cabinet, 6.9 x 6.0 x 3.9cm
These BIG pargasite(?) crystals [NOTE: not analysed, could be fluor-cannilloite, see http://www.mindat.org/mesg-7-69925.html] were found in association with the more familiar spinel crystals from this locality - they are quite remarkable in their prodigious size and nice grass-green color! 6.9 x 6.0 x 3.9cm
MD-60794 - Pargasite - - Archived Luc Yen, Yenbai (Yen Bai) Province, Vietnam large cabinet, 15.1 x 6.1 x 6.0cm
This is a super-rich specimen of the silicate pargasite, uncommon in good crystals, from the locality that is better known for its spinels (in fact, many from this find were in combination with spinel crystals). The crystals on this specimen are seamlessly intergrown, so it is hard to give a single-crystal size - but the large cluster measures over 4 cm. 15.1 x 6.1 x 6.0cm [NOTE: (probably) not analysed, could be fluor-cannilloite, see http://www.mindat.org/mesg-7-69925.html]
MD-62430 - Spinel, Pargasite - - Archived Luc Yen, Yenbai (Yen Bai) Province, Vietnam cabinet, 14.8 x 7.5 x 6.2 cm
A super-rich combo specimen from Vietnam, featuring an unusually large cluster of large, crudely-formed (which is typical) crystals of the relatively rare silicate pargasite - showing some nice faces, one of them 3 cm across. On top of the pargasite is a 5-cm deposit of maroon-colored, amorphous spinel. 14.8 x 7.5 x 6.2 cm
MD-62834 - Pargasite, Spinel - - Archived Luc Yen, Yenbai (Yen Bai) Province, Vietnam small cabinet, 5.4 x 5.4 x 3.2 cm
A combo specimen from Vietnam, featuring an unusually sharp and euhedral 2-cm crystal of the relatively rare silicate pargasite - showing some nice faces, one of them 3 cm across. Right next to it in the marble matrix is a group of red spinel crystals! the associaiton is quite uncommon and beautiful. this is one of just a few we had 5.4 x 5.4 x 3.2 cm [NOTE: (probably) not analysed, could be fluor-cannilloite, see http://www.mindat.org/mesg-7-69925.html]
MD-66637 - Spinel, Pargasite, Marble - - Archived Luc Yen, Yenbai (Yen Bai) Province, Vietnam miniature, 4.5 x 3.5 x 3.5 cm
Another specimen of this rare combination from a small batch we got - this is the last of the combo pieces I believe. At any rate, it is amongst the most striking of them, in that the spinel is right on top of the pargasite (a rather rare silicate named for the type locality of Pargas, Finland), and both are perched and centered atop the marble matrix. It looks almost like one of those Renassiance wax seals, just a bit more 3-dimensional! 4.5 x 3.5 x 3.5 cm
MD-70707 - Pargasite - - Archived Luc Yen, Yenbai (Yen Bai) Province, Vietnam miniature, 3.5 cm
A rich specimen of the relatively rare silicate pargasite, from the same locality as the Vietnamese spinels, and on the same marble matrix. The green pargasite is in two separate sections measuring around 3.5 cm each. 8.1 x 7.0 x 4.7 cm [NOTE: (probably) not analysed, could be fluor-cannilloite, see http://www.mindat.org/mesg-7-69925.html]
MRZ224 - Pargasite - $ 450 Mogok, Burma small cabinet, 6.2 x 4 x 3.6 cm ex. Martin Zinn
These came out in the late 90s, as China; and later it turns out that they came over the border from Burma. They are certainly the most beautiful known examples of this species, normally relegated to a boring and ugly dark-colored, rock-former. This piece is striking , featuring a 1.8 cm crystal of TOP color, lustre, and saturated green hue. It is of exceptional quality, compared to the common sort still available today when you can get it.
ORDWAY-10 - Pargasite - $ 1250 Jenson Quarry, Riverside County, California, USA small cabinet, 7.4 x 3.8 x 3.1 cm ex. Al Ordway
Emplaced on a matrix of sugary white quartz after an unknown species is a lustrous an translucent, lime green crystal of pargasite, measuring 2.5 cm in length. Especially from this deposit pargasite, a sodium, calcium, magnesium, aluminum, alumo silicate, is an uncommon mineral species.
WW49 - Pargasite - $ 400 SOLD Ganesh, Hunza Valley, Gilgit District, Northern Areas, Pakistan thumbnail, 2 x 1.8 x 1.7 cm ex. Wendell E. Wilson
Superb single crystal of of Pargasite, 1.5 cm long, sitting beautifully on a matrix of white marble. The deep green color is fantastic, as it the luster and well-defined crystal form. Gram for gram, this doubly-terminated crystal is by far the best Pargasite I have ever come across for its sharpness and electric color.
