6 x 5.5 x 5 cm. Paralaurionite is a rare lead species usually occurring as microcrystals. However there was once a find here which redefined the species. This is from that find, an important specimen with huge crystals for the species. Ex. F. John Barlow Collection.

Paralaurionite is really only known in a handful of specimens that would be of interest to the collector of non-microminerals, and this location has produced some of the finest. This smoky crystal with large GEMMY areas is crudely terminated at top and bottom by etching or contact, but is nonetheless a fine single crystal with excellent lustre and display quality to it! Such pieces are VERY rare and I have seen just a few for sale including the Barlow specimen, which I myself handled in 1999. See Barlow book page 322 for comparison (the largest terminated crystal on that specimen = 2.1 cm). This one is from the noted rarities collection of German collector Paul Stahl, who obtained it at about the same time as Barlow when they came out. 3 x 1.75 x 0.5 cm

Toussit Mine, Ouijda, Morocco
small cabinet, 6 x 5.5 x 5 cm

Sorry, we have no images of this specimen at present.

Paralaurionite is a rare lead species usually occuring as microcrystals. However there was once a find here which redefined, by an order of magnitude, one's expectations. This is from that find, an important specimen with huge crystals for the species. This piece could be considered one of the world's great specimens for the species and resided in a pre-eminent collection including many other such rarities (John Barlow's). Illustrated in the F John Barlow Collection book (click on the link above to see what his editors had to say about it).
