D06-185 - Orpiment - $ 275 SOLD Elbrusskiy Mine, 35 km NE of Elbruss Mountain , North Caucasus, Russia miniature, 5.8 x 3.5 x 1.7 cm
One of the finest specimens of this material I have sene, because it has unusual aesthetics in tha tthe crystals form isolated sprays showing the matrix between...making for a bit of contrast. Usually, these form thick carpets of solid growth, without individual sprays. These specimens have the top quality color saturation for the find.

ES35 - Hutchinsonite and Orpiment - $ 450 SOLD Quiruvilca, La Libertad, Peru small cabinet, 7 x 2.7 x 2.2 cm ex. Ernie Schlichter
This specimen has a lot going for it. It starts with golden-orange spheres of orpiment, up to .5 cm across, sitting on a sulfide matrix. Then there are diverging groups of the rare thallium sulfosalt, hutchinsonite, which exhibit a bright metallic luster. These crystals reach 1 cm in length. Additionally, there are occasional colorless blades of barite, under .5 cm, sprinkled across the specimen. This piece is from the Enargite Zone at Quiruvilca and such rich specimens are considered to be very rare and desirable. In this case, it is aesthetic, as well. Note it can be trimmed into two equally nice miniatures...
J08-32 - Orpiment - $ 650 SOLD Twin Creeks Mine, Winnemucca, Humboldt County, Nevada, USA small cabinet, 6 x 6 x 4 cm
The finds of orpiment in Nevada some years back (around 2000), spearheaded by a professional mining company that had access for specimen collecting after a blast and on weekends, redefined how good orpiment specimens could be - particularly US opriments which had been smudge until this! The crystals are big, flashy, transparent, and came in a beautiful range of colors – from bright orange to these beautiful "butterscotch" crystals. This one has intense color. Orpiment is very soft, and bruising is common on these specimens – but this one has almost none of it except for the usual stuff around the periphery from specimen removal. Fine luster! Crystals measure to over one centimeter. Mark my words, someday these will be seen as American classics of much higher value. I have seen it happen time and again to other finds.
JMIX07-163 - Orpiment - $ 1250 SOLD Cut 62, Twin Creeks Mine, Humboldt County, Nevada, USA small cabinet, 7 x 7 x 5 cm
A large specimen with big, fat crystals of orpiment, in fans that measure up to over 3.5 cm across. Honey-orange color and fine, flashy luster! There are a few light-colored bruises on edges, as you see, but they do not materially detract much given the overall size and 3-dimensionality on display. This is certainly one of the better ones I have seen for sale in a good while. Even back when they came out, it would be expensive
JMIX08-02 - Orpiment - $ 295 SOLD Cut 62, Twin Creeks Mine, Humboldt Co., Nevada, USA miniature, 3.5 x 3 x 2.5 cm

4.5 x 3.9 x 1.5 cm. A beautiful specimen, ON MATRIX no less, of this gorgeous material that trickles out of Russia for the last 10 years. This is good because it has such 3-dimensional relief to it, and stands up on the matrix instead of just a flat druse as usual.
