3D12 - Neptunite - $ 400 San Benito County, California, USA miniature, 3.6 x 1.2 x 1 cm ex. Marilyn Dodge
A very interesting, very aesthetic, cluster of curved bladed crystals with rough terminations on both ends. The blades have a deep cinnamon-brown color and excellent luster. This is not your average Neptunite, by any means. A very fine and unusual specimen. (NOT a thumbnail)
D05-43 - Neptunite - $ 450 SOLD San Benito CO., California, USA thumbnail, 2.8 x 2.3 x 1.7 cm ex. Sam Nasser
SHARP, wonderful neptunite with an exceptional termination, about 2 cm tall and 8 mm wide. This is an exceptional piece, and rare quality for a thumber!
D61 - Joaquinite w/Benitoite & Neptunite - $ 95 SOLD Gem Mine, San Benito Co., California, USA miniature, 3.2 x 2.3 x 1.5 cm ex. Marilyn Dodge
A nice specimen simply for the good Benitoite and Neptunite, add the two lustrous little Joaquinites (to 1mm), and now you have an excellent representative specimen for the species.
DENV08-24 - Neptunite - $ 1500 Dallas Mine, San Benito County, California, USA miniature, 3.4 x 2.4 x 1.8 cm
A choice miniature with a sharp, robust, lustrous, textbook-crystal of neptunite, perched on just the right amount of contrasting matrix to make this crystal really leap out in a case. Black, but not ugly...this is the world's only world class locality for the species as far as I am concerned (not to discount the manganoan-red variety, which occurs in smaller xls). Now that the deposit is literally stripmined and gone, no more of this calibre can come from the ground as they did, sporadically, over many past years.
ES53 - Neptunite with Benitoite - $ 1250 SOLD Gem Mine, San Benito County, California, USA small cabinet, 7.1 x 5.7 x 1.7 cm ex. Ernie Schlichter
This plate of black neptunite and blue benitoite crystals on white natrolite is one of the nicest I have seen in years for its price and size range. The neptunites reach 3 cm in length and are EXTREMELY sharp and lustrous. The largest benitoite measures 1 cm across with good luster and is tha tmost rare thing, a complete triply-terminated crystal perched smak dab on matrix, staring you in the face. Smallish perhaps, but of great quality and some gemminess as well. In addition, there is a rare, tiny 0.5 mm, brown, joaquinite crystal in the right center of the specimen. If the crystals stood more vertically, this would easily be a multi-kilobuck piece.
J12-435 - Neptunite on Natrolite - $ 450 SOLD Dallas Gem Mine, San Benito Co., California thumbnail, 2.4 x 2.4 x 1.6 cm ex. Ron Pellar
A sharp, extremely well-balanced neptunite thumbnail with the best black neptunite (lustre, sharpness!), perched smartly on stark white natrolite matrix. Now, such pieces are hard to come by in this quality and the deposit is basically exhausted for such things. Ex. Ron Pellar thumbnail collection. Joe Budd photos.
