This is a COMPETITION-QUALITY miniature of this combination, so do not let the abundance of so-so specimens make you take it for granted. What you have is an intensely gemmy, perfect apophyllite crystal, dead-centered between two pearly stilbite crystals that angle out from either side. At the bottom are other accenting stilbites, one of them being a very unusual starburst of intergrown bowtie crystals. You simply could not ask for a better mini of this familiar combo; it is good enough to go in even top collections, of those who have resisted buying zeolites due to their widespread availability. 4.9 x 4.9 x 2.8 cm
A really cool looking LARGE CABINET specimen. An elongate basalt vug is lined with colorless, ectched calcite rhombs and PERFECTLY centered in the vug is a gorgeous, classic spray of gemmy, green apophyllite crystals. This is an aesthetic and striking piece from Jalgaon, India. VERY UNCOMMON IN THIS QUALITY AND SIZE. 15.7 x 10.5 x 9.4 cm
A big, blocky, gemmy crystal of apophyllite, beautifully zoned alternating green and transparent, amongst pretty pink crystals of stilbite. The apophyllites (including the smaller accenting ones) have a wonderful glassy luster. The big crystal measures 3.5 cm across the edge. 8.7 x 8.2 x 6.4 cm
An extremely "cute" mini featuring a pristine, lustrous, translucent apophyllite with fine green color, nestled amongst pearly stilbites. 6.0 x 3.3 x 3.1 cm
A big, blocky green crystal of apophyllite, 3 cm across the termination, is embedded in a matrix of lustrous, salmon-colored stilbite. A smaller apophyllite is just beneath it. One of several examples of this combination in this auction, all very different! 13.4 x 6.2 x 6.1 cm
Gemmy crystals of apophyllite next to a cluster of shimmering, pink stilbite crystals. One of several examples of this combination in this auction, all very different! 9.3 x 7.1 x 5.4 cm
Another rare specimen out of the collection of mineral legend Fred Pough, this is a BRAZILIAN apophyllite, and a very fine one at that, with sharp, translucent-to-transparent crystals to 2.4 cm. This material is vanishingly rare on the market now, and therefore highly desirable! 3.9 x 3.7 x 3.0 cm
One of a variety of specimens of this combo from Jalgaon in this auction - this one features a HUGE, blocky crystal of apophyllite, 6.5 x 3.8 cm on edge, showcased on a matrix covered with salmon-pink stilbite bowties. The aophyllite is complete and undamaged, with a fabulous luster. REALLY impressive! 10.5 x 7.2 x 6.5 cm
A super, pristine, stacked cluster of lustrous, blocky, brick-red apophyllite crystals with green highlights and included by mozartite from Jalgaon, India. A striking specimen from the recent finds, very unusual compared to anything else out there so far as i have seen.... 5.2 x 2.6 x 2.3 cm
The terminations GLOW like LIGHTBULBS! They measure to around 5 cm in height and over an inch thick and set in a rich bed of salmon-colored stilbites. 21.4 x 17.8 x 14.5 cm
What makes this apophyllite specimen so remarkable is the two different generations of crystals, which creates such a striking contrast. The two large intergrown crystals (to 8 cm) have super-gemmy tips and milky centers - a pretty two-toned effect. These large crystals are then surrounded by small, intense, bright jewel-like apophyllites. Very cool! 8.6 x 7.4 x 6.0 cm
Nestled in the center of flower-like, lustrous, white stilbite crystals, to 2 cm across, is a cluster of emerald green, transparent, lustrous, prismatic, apophyllite crystals. THESE ARE LIKE GEMS! Rarely do you see apophyllite of such quality, gram for gram. The crystals are like little glass carvings! and on white stilbite, that is itself lustrous! Extremely aesthetic! 8 x 6.8 x 3.5 cm
A striking combination piece! I have seen SO MANY Indian zeolites, but none with such a combination and aesthetics, for scolecite on matrix. The scolecite is 12 cm, or about 5 inches. The splaying scolecite cluster is flanked and accented near its tip by a 2-inch (5cm) cubic apophyllite. The tips of the small extending scolecites are intact. The tips of some of the large scolecites are damaged and broken off, but this is not visible from the front and it is such a striking specimen overall, that I bought it anyhow (and the price is cheap, accordingly!). Comes with custom lucite base for display. 17.0 x 12.6 x 7.1 cm
11.5 x 9.2 x 7.5 cm. A cluster of tall, slender, elegant quartz crystals, sparkling with little apophyllites, and with phantoms of green fluorite inside the terminations. A sizeable and dramatic Dal'negorsk piece. These interesting combination pieces came out around 2005.
ex. Bill and Liz Moller
Emanating from a wreath of lustrous, cream colored, stilbite crystals, to 3.5 cm across, is a spear shaped, pristine, and transparent, light emerald green, fluorapophyllite crystal. The length of the fluorapophyllite crystal is 6.5 cm in length and it exhibits very good luster. The termination is RAZORsharp! This is more than just a very nice combo specimen - it is truly top shelf! Despite as many as I have seen, I was blown away by this one. This is an older piece obtained some 20 years ago at the Pandulena Hills Quarry, and sold only recently from the Bill and Elizabeth Moller collection.
