A cluster of extremely bright and gemmy crystals of apophyllite on a matrix of lustrous, sparkly stilbite crystals. 5.8 x 5.3 x 3.8 cm
A superbly-formed crystal of apophyllite, tinted by hematite inclusions, measuring 4.5 cm. It sits in a vug lined with grey quartz crystals. A large and showy specimen, and a truly wonderful example of this blocky apophyllite crystal form. 12.2 x 8.8 x 7.0 cm
Bright, gemmy crystals of apophyllite of the "blocky" form, with flat terminations, growing on a bed of pearly, shimmering stilbites - pretty! 10.8 x 7.5 x 7.1 cm
There are some really fine Indian specimens in this set of auctions. This is one you do not see too often: opaque "yellow-umber" apophyllite to 3 cm on edge. The color is due to inclusions and the mineral doing the including is a rare species called mozartite. 12.5 x 8.5 x 7.4 cm
An unusual WHOPPER crystal of apophyllite, highly lustrous, included with hematite on one side. The crystal is complete and undamaged all the way around, with the back being a natural contact face. One of the largest single examples of crystals of the species, surely! 11.0 x 10.5 x 8.9 cm
An intensely gemmy crystal of apophyllite pokes out from between stilbite crystals. This combination and the bright white matrix make this a particularly appealing zeolite specimen. 9.9 x 5.8 x 5.3 cm
An aesthetic thumbnail of a gemmy spray of green apophyllite crystals set on a pearlescent stilbite blade from Jalgaon. One side of the cluster has a few cleaved crystals, but is out of sight and this remains a very showy piece. 2.5 x 1.8 x 1.8 cm
A SHOWY and AESTHETIC CABINET specimen of glassy, blocky, blue-gray apophyllite crystals to 3.8 cm set on smaller, tan apophyllite crystals in a vug in basalt matrix. This piece is from a small, ONE-TIME find in the 1950s from the very less well-known Campos Novos area of Santa Catarina State, Brazil. 11.0 x 7.5 x 6.3 cm
The pics do not capture the incredible brilliance of these apophyllite crystals. Some of them are doubly-terminated crystals lying on their side, other stick up from the matrix, and in many places there are diamond-brilliant points sticking off of larger crystals. This is a BIG plate, with so much flash going on! Here and there are salmon-colored stilbites, and there is even a dark heulandite crystal. A large, flashy showpiece that will dazzle you! 21.0 x 14.0 x 6.8 cm
Another large SHOWPIECE specimen, incredibly dazzling! This is a cluster of large, thick, lustrous books of pink stilbite, with lustrous "green-stripe" apophyllites amongst them! One of the stilbite books rises from the cluster dramatically, with an apophyllite having grown perfectly right on its side - making the specimen very sculptural and dramatic. 17.5 x 12.7 x 12.3 cm
A rare Chinese specimen out of the notable collection of Helen Holmes: GEMMY light pink WINDOWPANE crystals of apophyllite, richly piled up on the matrix! Look how this highly desirable specimen has been trimmed out to display perfectly the rich cluster of crystals. A superb specimen. The best of these came out around 1998 and their equals have not turned up since. 7.6 x 6.5 x 5.1 cm
Classic combo from the early days of Indian exports! A fan-like, diverging spray, of white, partially gemmy, scolecite crystals to 5 cm in length is associated with accenting apophyllite crystals, to 1.5 cm in length, all spraying up from a sliver of basaltic matrix. Groups like this first made an appearance in the U.S, around 1979-81 and the style and character of that find remains distinct and unique to this day, and highly sought after. I have handled a few as they become recycled through collections - nearly all major colelctors of the time had a good one, and treasured them as among the most elegant of specimens available at the time. After 20 years mining more Indian minerals, they still haven't been surpassed, by any new find. This piece is sturdier than it looks and can probably be mailed, but its a big pain and i'd rather arrange somehow for hand-delivery. 9 x 7.1 x 2.8 cm
A spectacular burst of bright, gemmy crystals is centered on this large, dramatic specimen! The tips of the crystals glow like gemstones! Especially attractive due to the isolation of the apophyllite cluster on the snowy contrasting matrix. 11.0 x 8.0 x 6.5 cm
A 6-cm doubly-terminated apophyllite crystal (along with a couple of smaller ones) with shimmering, pearly bowties of stilbite on a sparkly matrix that is actually a CAST of an earlier crystal. 6.6 x 4.8 x 4.6 cm
GEMMY, bright apophyllites in a pretty cluster on a matrix covered with snowy stilbite microcrystals. Beautiful! 8.6 x 4.9 x 3.6 cm
