6.3 x 5.4 x 3.9 cm. Yet another wonderful apophyllite specimen in this set of auctions, and of yet another completely different style! This is the "classic" crystal form, in this case a SUPER gemmy crystal (4.5 cm tall), with a smaller accessory crystal and some accenting light salmon-colored stilbites.
7.4 x 3.4 x 3.3 cm. A gorgeous cluster of intensely bright and gemmy apophyllites, ranging from transparent to a very slightly green hue, intergrown with pastel-pink stilbites with a pretty pearly luster, and a bit of accenting quartz.
5.6 x 4.9 x 3.2 cm. A gorgeous fluorapophyllite miniature, largely due to the superb trimming job that gives it a perfect balance. There is a single blocky crystal here, of textbook form, measuring 2.5 cm across the face. It sits on a stark white matrix of stilbite, accented by the dark underlying matrix. The fluorapophyllite has marvelous bright mint green color.
7 x 6 x 4 cm. Beautiful stalactite of bright, very gemmy Apophyllites that are absolutely water-clear, and range in size up to 3.5 cm, though most are about 2 cm. Intergrown are sharp, light salmon blades of Stilbite that have incredible pearly luster. The larger Stilbites, up to 2.2 cm, develop into beautiful fans that begin to exhibit the well-known bowtie habit. Ex. Steve Smale Collection.
8.8 x 5.2 x 4.4 cm. Fabulous 8.4 cm doubly-terminated Stilbite on a stalactite. Each termination is gemmy. One comes to a sharp point, the other has a slight flat end (actual termination or cleave -hard to say). Regardless, this is an amazing and aesthetic piece for the sheer size and quality of the dominant crystal. Ex. Steve Smale Collection.
5.7 x 4.5 x 4.3 cm. Lovely and classic single Fluorapophyllite sitting majestically on a bed of fine straw-like Quartz. This beautiful mint-green crystal, 2.3 cm long, is gemmy and lustrous, exactly what you would expect from the best of this famous location. Ex. Steve Smale Collection.
12.2 x 3 x 2.4 cm. Simple and elegant single Quartz stalactite populated with more than a dozen lovely Apophyllites, the largest of which is 2.3 cm. Each Apophyllite is gemmy and highly lustrous. Most are doubly terminated - some with points, some with very fine chisel-points (cleaved or natural - not sure, but still razor-sharp and attractive). Ex. Steve Smale Collection.
8 x 4.5 x 3 cm. Exceptional specimen of deep reddish-black Heulandite with two gorgeous Apophyllites. The Heulandite, so unusual and attractive in color and 4 cm in size, has a good, almost metallic luster, and a stepped bowtie habit. Both major Apophyllites, the largest of which is 3.5 cm, are gemmy and highly lustrous. Ex. Steve Smale Collection.
6 x 5.8 x 3 cm. Very fine cluster of large gemmy Apophyllites perched on two slender Quartz stalactites. Very unusual. The Apophyllites, the largest of which is 4.8 cm, are gemmy, highly lustrous, and mostly doubly-terminated. The terminations range from pointed to chisel (cleaved?), and are uniformly sharp and attractive. Ex. Steve Smale Collection.
10.5 x 5 x 3.8 cm. Very distinctive all-Apophyllite stalactite. As usual, the Apophyllites are gemmy and extremely lustrous. The largest crystal, almost 3 cm in size, has a fantastic red (hematite?) phantom in it that is amazing. Ex. Steve Smale Collection.
10.3 x 7.5 x 6.2 cm. This specimen features some of the best pink color Heulandite that I've seen from New Street. The crystals are extremely attractive with excellent luster and great form. To top it off, the Heulandites are associated with attractive white tabular Apophyllite on basalt matrix. You don't see many specimens of this material on the market these days, ESPECIALLY with this great pink color.
14.5 x 12.0 x 5.5 cm. The locality at Bergen Hill dates back to the 19th Century, and some of the most classic of all New Jersey Trap Rock specimens were found around this area. This specimen is more than likely from the Erie Railroad cut as I have seen similar pieces in various collections from the same locale. It is comprised of translucent, light golden color Calcite scalenohedra which are associated with white blocky Apophyllite crystals and small acicular "sprays" of Natrolite on matrix. Ex. Kosnar Collection.
6.7 x 4.8 x 3.2 cm. A lone apophyllite crystal, complete, undamaged and with classic form, isolated on a bed of small, clear bladed apophyllites. The crystal measures 3.5 cm, and is translucent-to-transparent, with pretty blushes of green.
8.6 x 6.4 x 4.1 cm. A lustrous, gemmy apophyllite of the blocky form, centered on a nicely-trimmed matrix covered with sparkly white stilbite, from Nasik. The crystal measures 3 cm. There are some pearly stilbite crystals sticking up from the matrix as well.
8.2 x 6.2 x 4.8 cm. A cluster of milky, translucent apophyllites of the blocky style, anchored by a large one measuring 3.5 cm, with a stilbite bowtie and some small stilbites adding a pretty accent to one side.
