14.5 x 7.5 x7.5 cm. A dramatic, complete-all-around and pristine cabinet combination specimen from Jalgaon. A gorgeous "corsage" of pearlescent, translucent, salmon-pink stilbite rests atop a very thin sliver of drusy quartz, which is covered with a single stilbite, gemmy, sharp, bi-colored, apophyllite crystals and snow-white, acicular mordenite. This is a striking and beautiful, large Indian zeolite combination specimen.
6.4 x 4.1 x 3.4 cm. An excellent cluster of blocky Hydroxyapophyllite on a matrix of gemmy fluorescent Calcite crystals. The Hydroxyapophyllites have superb luster (striated, no less), are partially gemmy, and an attractive light peach color. Note this is not the more common Fluor-variety of apophyllite. This is much rarer, and these crystals are among the worlds finest of this species. The largest crystal is a very significant 3.1 cm long and has superb lustre and translucency. A choice example of a rare species. Ex. Charlie Key.
12.4 x 8.7 x 6.2 cm. I know that Indian Zeolite specimens are everywhere, but you must appreciate them for what they are. They are simply some of the finest crystallized examples of their respective species extant. This piece is actually from a find from nearly 20 years ago, and came from the collection of Brian Kosnar. It features good sized, sharp, lustrous, blocky, light blue-green color crystals of Apophyllite measuring up to 2.1 cm with several porcelain white Stilbite sheaves up to 2.8 cm surrounding it. The crystals sit on a basalt matrix that is covered with white Heulandite. This piece is one of the best display specimens that I have seen from Lonavala in a long time.
A spectacular floater specimen, as pristine and perfect as you could ask for. It is an "infamous" piece illustrated in many advertisements in mineral magazines from teh early 1990s. We have all seen a lot of Indian zeolites, but this particular piece is truly that extra bit of perfection! Ex. Matthew Webb collection. 4.7 x 3.4 x 1.3 cm
11.0 x 5.8 x 5.0 cm. A striking, 5.6 x 4.1 cm, color-zoned, blocky apophyllite crystal is aesthetically set on cabinet-sized basalt matrix covered with lustrous, flesh-colored stilbite crystals and smaller apophyllite crystals on this excellent specimen from recent finds at Jalgaon, India. The apophyllite crystal has interesting, modified corners and the green center area really stands out.
9.4 x 8.6 x 7.7 cm. A very fine radial spray of gem-like, very glassy, pyramidal apophyllite crystals cover a cluster of lustrous, tan, blocky calcite rhombs from recent finds at Nasik, India. The dominating, large apophyllite is 4.0 cm and all of the apophyllites have water-clear terminations. All of the major apophyllites are pristine. A very aesthetic example of the combination of species and well-known locale.
12.4 x 6.2 x 4.5 cm. A striking cabinet specimen of intergrown, sparkly, drusy quartz stalactites from recent finds at Jalgaon, India. This is a complete-all-around, very interesting piece. One side is densely overgrown with small, secondary stalactites and portions of the piece have a gray tint, while the rest is colorless. Small, gem-like, water-clear apophyllite crystals are scattered about as a fine accent. The terminations were contacted against the vug ceiling.
12.5 x 9.5 x 7.5 cm. The famous basalt quarries near Jalgaon have produced a stunning variety of beautiful zeolite specimens and this is an excellent cabinet example. A striking cluster of pearlescent, tan stilbite crystals rests on a shard of basalt matrix. The impressive, large stilbite bowtie is 10.5 cm across. The two large stilbites are complete- all-around and pristine. Hidden in a vug on the left side are a few glassy, gem-like, colorless apophyllite crystals. Impressive material from this classic locale.
16.5 x 15.9 x 6.7 cm. An impressive and very aesthetic, large cabinet, combination specimen from recent finds at Jalgaon. Very large, tabular, glassy, colorless apophyllite crystals with modified corners are set amidst starkly contrasting, pearlescent, salmon-pink stilbite blades. The large apophyllite is 5.8 cm.
6.7 x 5.9 x 4.5 cm. An aesthetic combination specimen from recent finds at Jalgaon. A dramatic, 6.5 cm, doubly terminated, very glassy apophyllite crowns this showy, stacked piece of smaller apophyllites beautifully accented with three, pearlescent, salmon-pink stilbite blades. The terminations of the apophyllites are strikingly water-clear. One termination of the large apophyllite is cleaved. This remains an excellent, two-sided example of the combination species from this noted locale.
18.0 x 12.9 x 11.1 cm. Pearlescent, pastel-pink stilbite blades and apophyllite crystals are aesthetically set on this impressive, large cabinet combination specimen covered with interesting, rice grain-like, drusy quartz from recent finds at Jalgaon. This very well-prepared, mounded, two-sided piece is highlighted by the 7.7 cm stilbite bowtie and the 4.5 cm, doubly terminated, bi-colored apophyllite crystal beautifully set on the crest of the specimen.
A superb Chinese combination piece from a unique find of apophyllite on amethystine quartz, that to this day remains unrivalled though this came out 5 years ago. This piece was exhibited at the Tucson 2000 show as a new find. It has since been in a private collection, since I bought it out of Irv Brown's display case at that show. It has a sparkle and life to it that makes these among the glassiest quartzes around, and the gem-clear apophyllites atop enhance the pale amethystine color. 10 x 5.5 x 5 cm
Very difficult to photograph and ten times better in person – this is a huge, razor-sharp, transparent calcite crystal 9 cm long, nestled in a concave bed of stilbites and apophyllites. If you like it at all from the photos, you will love it in person, guaranteed – or I will gladly take it back! 15.7 x 13.6 x 5.1 cm
There is not shortage of apophyllites on the market, but a really fine one such as this is still quite desirable. A single, elegant, super-gemmy crystal of 3 cm, with textbook form and a flawless termination, rises in from of a backdrop of creamy stilbites. 4.9 x 4.0 x 3.1 cm
This is one of the most exceptional apophyllite minis I have seen in a long time. The sharply terminated crystal is clear at the top, with a chocolate-colored phantom inside, grading to the classic green as it goes down inside . This crystal has a jewel-like clarity and sharpness. Cutting right across its center is a doubly-terminated stilbite bowtie. I know some people look at this and think its too darned pricey but really, its unique and extremely fine! 4.5 x 3.1 x 3.0 cm
