10.6 x 7.0 x 4.4 cm. A 4.4 cm, gemmy and lustrous, doubly-terminated apophyllite crystal beautifully highlights this fine cabinet combination specimen from recent finds at Jalgaon. The elongated apophyllite crystals are bi-colored and have gemmy, colorless pinacoidal terminations. Pearlescent stilbite blades line the well-prepared vug. Contemporary classic combination material from Jalgaon.

26.4 x 12.5 x 8.4 cm. A huge oval vug in basalt is dramatically filled with pearlescent, flesh-colored stilbite crystals and beautifully complimented with glassy green apophyllite crystals on this impressive specimen from recent finds at Jalgaon, India. The large apophyllite is 6.2 cm and the floor of the vug is covered with drusy quartz. A spectacular, large combination piece from Jalgaon in pristine condition. Weighs 5.5 pounds or 2.5 kilograms.

Apophyllite-(KF) from Loudoun Co., Virginia, USA [db_pics/mdpics/MD-261610a.jpg]

5.2 x 3.8 x 2.6 cm. A good representative non-Indian Apophyllite specimen. Virginia has long been one of the best sources of Apophyllite in the United States. This specimen hosts several, sharp, semi-lustrous, white/colorless, blocky tetragonal crystals of Apophyllite on minor pale green Prehnite on matrix.

6.8 x 6.3 x 6.2 cm. One of several specimens marketed as "marshy apophyllite" from a recent find in Nasik that are completely unlike anything I have seen before. My first response was to think them ugly but, really, they are not...the lustrous umber-yellow color is really unique and, in combination with the sharp, tetragonal geometry of these floater crystals, quite interesting and appealing in person. Nearly pristine. This is a complete, unique floater apophyllite.

5.6 x 5.3 x 4.0 cm. A huge apophyllite crystal, the largest I have yet seen in fact, from this find of 2005 at the classic San Martin Silver Mine. In person, it has a more robust and pleasant pink color than the photo indicates. Crystals of apophyllite of this magnitude in size were, to my knowledge, unknown from Mexico until this find.

Fluorite, Quartz, Apophyllite from Mahodari, Nasik District, Maharashtra, India [db_pics/mdpics/MD-26445a.jpg]

AN INCREDIBLE and UNIQUE Indian CABINET specimen of two complete and pristine, translucent, golden-amber , mushroom-shaped, yellow fluorite crystals to 5.0 cm . They sit on crystallized quartz matrix flanking a quartz cast after a dissolved apophyllite crystal from Mahodari. The bottom of the pseudomorphed cast is open and leads to a hollow cavity! Truly a one-off specimen! Valued at $1500. This is an AMAZING specimen that is unlike any others we have seen on overall aspect, though of course there were some of these odd botryoidal fluorites available for awhile (now not as common). Botryoidal fluorite in general is very rare and from other localities tends to be ugly and grayish, whereas these translucent amber-colored fluorites from India make for much more spectacular display pieces. THis one, I think, kinda looks like a frog. 11.6 x 10.6 x 6.7 cm

A very showy and aesthetic CABINET specimen of highly lustrous translucent to transparent colorless octohedral apophyllite crystals to 3 cm on massive green prehnite on basalt matrix from Bombay, India. This is old and choice Bombay material as all of the Bombay area quarries have been closed for years due to poplulation growth. Old dealer stock of Dr. Gary Hansen and not shown since the early 1980s! 14.0 x 9.8 x 6.3 cm

Apophyllite-(KF) from San Martín Mine, San Martín, Mun. de Sombrerete, Zacatecas, Mexico [db_pics/mdpics/MD-266062a.jpg]

10.8 x 9.8 x 5.7 cm. A beautiful, pastel pink plate of intergrown, glassy and translucent apophyllite crystals, to 5 cm in length. The tetragonal symmetry of the apophyllite crystals is clearly evident. An unusual specimen from the San Martin Mine, this came from a small find in about 2004. Very few of this calibre came out, and most had considerable damage if in this size range...or were simply smaller. Since that time, a few new finds have come out of pink apophyllite in the form of small, pointy crystals. These large, tabular crystals have remained rare, and this small find should be considered quite important for Mexico.

15.0 x 13.4 x 11.0 cm. This well-prepared, large cabinet, circular basalt vesicle is spectacularly lined with glassy, gem-like, colorless apophyllite crystals with a few pink stilbite blades as a nice accent. A spectacular 4.5 cm, gem, twinned, amber calcite crystal dramatically rests on a mound of apophyllite crystals dead-center in the vug. The calcite is limpid, highly lustrous and has an unusual twinning form. This is a superb, very aesthetic, large calcite and apophyllite specimen.

13.0 x 9.0 x 6.7 cm. Striking, two-toned, very glassy and lustrous, intergrown apophyllite crystals are beautifully framed by pearlescent stilbite blades on the strangely parallel-growth, drusy quartz-covered basalt matrix on this beautiful cabinet combination specimen from recent finds at Jalgaon. The intergrown, gem-like, blocky apophyllite crystals are 3.9 x 3.2 cm. One of the stilbite blades has tiny gem apophyllites on one face. Very interesting. Classic combination material from Jalgaon.

8.4 x 6.3 x 4.8 cm. Zeolite specimens from Gunjale, Ahmednagar District, are seldom available. This is a very pretty and aesthetic combination specimen. A ball-like, radiating cluster of gemmy, prismatic, blocky, two-toned apophyllite crystals is attractively set with pearlescent, pastel-pink stilbite blades. Yellow color is unusual and there is a hint of it here. The apophyllite style reminds me of the famed "disco ball" apophyllites of 2001 from nearby Rahuri. Ex. Daniel Trinchillo Sr. Collection.

5.6 x 3.2 x 2.3 cm. Vivid, azure-blue kinoite microcrystals are festooned on sparkling apophyllite-coated vuggy matrix on both sides of this fine, highly representative specimen of the species and famed locale. Kinoite is a rare copper silicate and this is very rich specimen. Older material from the 1950s to 1970s from the Dennis Mullane Collection.

A superb and aesthetic specimen of three spired crystal clusters of of very gemmy, green apophyllite crystals set on a rounded mound of white stilbite coating basalt matrix. The gorgeous and largest central apophyllite crystal cluster on the top of the "mountain" really sets this piece off. This beautiful piece is from the famous, now-closed and classic Pashan Quarries at Poona. Old dealer stock of Dr. Gary Hansen and not shown since the early 1980s! 7.2 x 6.0 x 3.4 cm

14.9 x 12.4 x 7.4 cm. A 6.0 x 5.5 cm cluster of glassy, blocky, color-zoned green apophyllite crystals is aesthetically placed, front and center, on the undulating cabinet-sized basalt matrix covered with pastel-green heulandite crystals and nicely accented with a scattering of pearlescent stilbite blades. The quarries around Jalgaon have produced a stunning variety of zeolite specimens and this is a large and fine example.
