11.5 x 9.2 x 3.4 cm. A sculptural, classic cabinet combination specimen from one of the famous traprock basalt quarries at Paterson, New Jersey. Pearlescent, saddle-shaped heulandite crystals richly fill the showy vug and are nicely accented with radial sprays of snow-white pectolite and small crystals of calcite and apophyllite. Excellent, highly representative older material from the Mullane Collection and comes with an older faded label.
15.2 x 10.8 x 6.8 cm. A fine, large cabinet combination specimen from recent finds at Jalgaon. The typical curved basalt vug is prominently highlighted by a superb, 5.7 cm wide cluster of very glassy, prismatic, green apophyllite crystals. The band of pearlescent, light peach-colored stilbite blades along the top and scattered in the vug are a super accent to the vug lining of light pink, popcorn-style drusy quartz.
7.6 x 6.4 x 5.3 cm. A classic "bow-tie"-shaped aggregate of light peach color Stilbite crystals very aesthetically perched atop colorless, gemmy Apophyllite crystal matrix. Ex. Brian Kosnar Collection.
8.5 x 7.5 x 5.5 cm. The now closed Millington Quarry is over 100 years old (it opened in 1895). Starting in the late 1970's the quarry reopened and started producing a large number of some of the most interesting and beloved specimens from this incredible Trap Rock quarry. This is one of the most famous Trap Rock quarries in New Jersey. This piece features a very attractive tabular crystal group of lustrous, pale green to colorless Apophyllite associated with a few Prehnite spheres (one of which has the classic "Spanish Helmet" habit – see second close-up photo) on matrix. Now that the mineralized zone at Millington is finished, you will not see any more of these beautiful specimens on the market anymore. A great Trap Rock specimen from this significant New Jersey locality.
11.5 x 8.2 x 5.9 cm. Powellilte is the rarest and most desirable mineral from the famed basalts of the Deccan Traps of India. This excellent Indian cabinet combination piece features a 2.5 x 2.0 cm wide compound cluster of sharp, lustrous, partially gemmy, golden-amber powellite crystals set amidst a 3-dimensional matrix of large, blocky and glassy, colorless fluorapophyllite crystals from recent finds at Jalgaon, India. There is even a single stilbite blade as an additional compliment. The powellite cluster is pristine. The powellite has excellent yellow fluorescence.
15.2 x 11.7 x 10.8 cm. A stunning 9 x 3 x 3 cm gemmy crystal of pastel green apophyllite sits on peach-colored stilbite in this naturally pocket-shaped specimen. The quality of the single, isolated crystal is outstanding - lustre, sharpness, glassy surface all. There is no damage. The trimming of the pocket of stilbite around it creates a very balanced look and display.
11.2 x 10.0 x 9.5 cm. A superb, cabinet apophyllite and stilbite specimen from recent finds at Jalgaon. A huge, 7.3 x 6.5 x 6.5 cm, very glassy, beautifully color-zoned apophyllite crystal is very aesthetically set amidst pearlescent, flesh-toned stilbites and smaller apophyllite crystals. The doubly terminated, vertical stilbite in the front is 5.5 cm. The smaller apophyllites look like faceted jewels.
15.5 x 12.0 x 6.5 cm. A fine, large cabinet combination specimen from recent finds at Jalgaon. The typical curved basalt vug is prominently highlighted by a superb, 6.0 cm high, very glassy, prismatic, green to colorless apophyllite crystal with a sharp pyramidal termination. The roof of the vug holds a 2.5 cm, glassy and lustrous, bladed rosette of colorless epistilbite crystals as a fine accent to the vug lining of flesh-colored, popcorn-style, drusy quartz. Epistilbite is much less common than stilbite in India.
13 x 8.2 x 6.5 cm. A magnificent combination piece consisting of a superb peach-colored fan of Stilbite resting on a rich bed of gemmy Apophyllites. The lustrous Apophyllites are classic, and range up to 2 cm in length. What makes this piece so outstanding is the unusual, and fabulous, Stilbite fan. Most great Stilbites are bowtie-shaped, but these lustrous and striated crystals have grown into a grand fan, the likes of which I have not seen very often. The fan is 6 cm across and 4 cm thick. It is both delicate in its beauty and strong in its form. Ex. Charlie Key.
7.8 x 5.5 x 4 cm. An exceptional 6 cm, doubly-terminated Apophyllite perched beautifully on a stalactite of sparkly gemmy Quartz crystals. The Apophyllite has a gemmy main termination, and the luster is superb. The smaller 1.8 cm Apophyllite is also gemmy and lustrous, and it complements the larger crystal in striking fashion. Ex. Charlie Key.
5.6 x 4.6 x 4.6 cm. An incredible, and quite rare, crystal cluster of Blue Apophyllite from the Pune District of India. While the blue color is virtually unheard of, to find the translucent crystals in an elegant pinwheel habit 3.5 cm across is nothing short of amazing. Ex. Charlie Key Collection.
5.3 x 4.1 x 2.5 cm. This specimen consists of a cluster of spheres of olive green, lustrous, slightly translucent Gyrolite, to 2 cm across. It is dusted aesthetically with a druse of colorless Apophyllite and sparkles all over. The larger white crystal is laumontite.
10.5 x 9.5 x 7.0 cm. A beautiful roseate cluster of sparkling, gemmy, mint-green apophyllite crystals. It is complete and pristine, set dramatically among stilbite sheaves on matrix.
7.5 x 5.0 x 4.7 cm. Crusts of scintillating apophyllite microcrystals partially cover the front and back and terminations of three, gem-like, sceptered calcite crystals from the Verchniy Mine at Dal’negorsk. The water-clear, modified rhombohedral calcite scepters are beautifully striated and are perched on translucent calcite scalenohedrons. Lustrous, black ilvaite is visible at the base of the specimen, just above the bit of matrix. An excellent and uncommon combination specimen from the locale and the Ryan Bowling Collection. This fine piece dates to the early-mid 1990s and is of a style available today only in recycled collections.
13.8 x 7.4 x 6.2 cm. A fine Indian cabinet combination specimen from recent finds at Jalgaon. This striking piece is dominated by a large, 6.0 x 6.0 cm, gem-like, golden-amber calcite rhomb. The rhomb is beautifully perched on a column of pearlescent stilbite blades accented with a few green apophyllite crystals. The lower part of the calcite rhomb is transparent. The color is a very rich hue, not pale as usual for this material.
