8.3 x 5.6 x 4.5 cm. A superb and aesthetic Indian specimen of a 2.9 cm, doubly terminated, frosted, lustrous, color-zoned, sea-green apophyllite crystal beautifully set on matrix of contrasting, pearlescent, snow-white stilbite blades. The apophyllite is actually glassy and striated. Ex. Steve Smale Collection.
This is a stunning, perfect, octahedron-modified cube with super-sharp edges and corners. The color varies from a lovely green band in the center to water clear along the sides. The luster is superb, and the aesthetics are out-of-this-world as the cube sits on a small plate of matrix. A classic specimen from the classic province. OK, make fun of me for selling an apophyllite thumbnail , but GO FIND a better one! I actually sold this to the previous owner who had been looking for a suitable apoph for his tastes for years, and we trimmed it down from a small cab to create this beauty. It is symmetric and on matrix and just stands out from the crowd of "small " apophs as a great thumbnail in every way. Oh...GEMMIER and more transparent in PERSON! 2.5 x 1.8 x 2.2 cm
Two beautiful sprays of green lustrous crystals set wonderfully on matrix. With such a fine green color and superb luster, the overall aesthetics of the piece are nothing short of great. This is classic fluorapophyllite in every way, but also that rare thing: a truly balanced thumbnail specimen. 3.6 x 3.1 x 1.3 cm
Stellar 3-DIMENSIONAL AND COMPLETE-ALL-AROUND spray of beautiful green apophyllites set perfectly on white matrix. The crystals possess mirror-like luster and excellent clarity. The aesthetics and quality of the crystals make this a choice miniature. 4.3 x 3.9 x 3.4` cm
12.8 x 10.8 x 8.9 cm. A large, aesthetic Indian specimen that has been carefully trimmed out to feature right in its center a spray of lustrous crystals of apophyllite (the spray measures around 5.5 cm in each direction). Also left intact below is a little "shelf" with a cluster of very peach cluster of stilbite crystals. The snowy quartz creates a striking background.
19.8 x 14.0 x 6.8 cm. Kinoite, Ca2Cu2Si3O8(OH)4, is a very rare silicate best known to collectors in these specimens which were found at the Christmas Mine back in the 1960s. Kinoite forms microcrystals of an intense deep blue color associated with clear microcrystals of apophyllite (this association is typical for the Christmas Mine find). A very large and rich example of a mineral you just do not see around often at all. Ex. Mullane Collection.
7.8 x 6.8 x 4.3 cm. Exquisite aesthetics characterize this stunning specimen from Jalgaon. A salmon-colored cluster of stilbite shoot bolt upright out of a cluster of sharp, transparent apophyllites. A real killer that stands way above the "mass" of Indian zeolite specimens. Ex. Feist Collection.
16.4 x 11.1 x 7.9 cm. A huge, beautiful bloom of light peach-colored stilbite, piled up 5 cm high, on a thin crust of matrix. Surrounding the stilbite are some pale green lustrous, transparent crystals of apophyllite.
15.9 x 11.4 x 4.5 cm. Two strikingly isolated crystals of apophyllite on a field of stilbite microcrystals, from Jalgaon. Both of these minty-green crystals measure about 3.8 cm. They have unusual zoning: four darker green stripes running across them at regular intervals.
4.5 x 4.4 x 3.6 cm. A very sharp, zoned, 1.6-cm apophyllite crystal perched smartly on matrix of little stilbites. Ex. Charlie Key.
6.8 x 5.4 x 1.8 cm. Kinoite covered by tranparent crystals of apophyllite-(KF) as a sparkly druse on matrix. This is a gorgeous example, like blue sugar. Ex. Jaime Bird Collection.
9.4 x 8.8 x 5.6 cm. This is a highly unusual specimen for the intensity of color to the powellite. The crystal has not only intense orange color, but also a glassy lustre that is equally outstanding. The contrast to the matrix of sparkling quartz druse, on which sits bright and lustrous, shimmering apophyllite crystals, just takes the piece to the next level. It is an outstanding piece for the species and locality.
14.2 x 9.4 x 6.8 cm. From the Charlie Key collection of Indian minerals. A stunning, significant, 8 x 5 x 4 cm crystal of brilliantly lustrous heulandite is perched attractively on a plate of glassy pseudocubic apophyllite crystals. This is a major Indian specimen, from Charlie's extensive sub-collection of Indian zeolites accumulated over the last 30 years or so.
7.0 x 6.0 x 5.3 cm. A striking and very aesthetic apophyllite specimen from Jalgaon, India. A gemmy and glassy, 3.5 cm, very blocky, multi-hued apophyllite is set in a well-prepared, bowl-shaped vug. The layered, skyscraper-like, apophyllite crystal is green at the base, grading up to light green and has a very gemmy, colorless termination. The termination is partially hoppered. Well-placed and nearly hidden behind the apophyllite crystal are several, large, pearlescent stilbite blades to 1.9 cm. Ex. Jamie Bird Collection, a California collector from the 1960s-1980s.
5.9 x 3.4 x 3.2 cm. Another of those exotic things from the Jaime Bird collection, a specimen of Canadian apophyllite that goes back at least to the early 1970s. Apophyllites from here are distinctive for their beveled pseudocubes with gray centers outlined by white.
