5.4 x 4.2 x 2.9 cm. A specimen of the amazing GREEN mimetite, from a unique find where the mimetite was familiar for the Ojuela in every way except for this TRULY green (not "greenish") color! This one is REALLY unique, though -- check out the lustrous little WULFENITES on the specimen!
6.3 x 4.2 x 3.9 cm. New finds of well-crystallized mimetite are of course rare, so this one caused quite a bit of excitement back in 2002-2003. And this is a RICH example with dozens of unusually transparent and bright crystals, some of them like little yellow-orange gems measuring to 0.4 cm. The crystals wrap around the side of the limonitic matrix.
6.7 x 5.7 x 2.5 cm. Lustrous, PYRAMIDAL, butterscotch-colored wulfenite crystals. The central, radiating wulfenite cluster is superb and this V-shaped specimen is very 3-diminsional, loaded with wulfenites. The crust of botryoidal, forest-green mimetite of unusual color is an outstanding compliment. The exact mine location is Level 6, San Juan Poniente vein.
4.3 x 4.0 x 3.0 cm. A showy and excellent cluster of FAT, lustrous, two-toned mimetite crystals to 1.8 cm tall from Tsumeb. SELDOM do Tsumeb mimetite crystals reach this thickness, with crystals up to 1.1 cm wide. Highly representative and large for the species and famous, now-closed locality. Ex. Rob Smith Collection.
6.7 x 5.0 x 3.8 cm. A BEAUTIFUL, highly desirable combination specimen of gemmy and lustrous, golden-yellow wulfenite crystals to 5 mm richly interspersed amongst botryoidal, olive-green mimetite from the famous Mina Ojuela of Mexico. This very showy piece has outstanding aesthetics in the way the wulfenite and mimetite are displayed on the 3-dimensional gossan matrix.
7.3 x 4.3 x 2.3 cm. Gemmy and lustrous, single and doubly terminated, acicular, butterscotch-colored mimetite crystals to 1.0 cm cover massive mimetite matrix on this Tsumeb specimen. Ex. Miljon Collection, a Tsumeb miner from 1945 to 1975. Classic, old-time and highly representative material from the Brent Lockhart Collection.
5.5 x 4 x 3.5 cm. A superb miniature consisting of mimetite that has coated and partially replaced a cluster of finely-twinned cerussite crystals. It has no damage and is complete all around! Ex. Sussman and E.M. Gunnell Collections.
7 x 6 x 3.5 cm. This complete-all-around specimen has no damage and consists of mimetite in the process of covering and replacing a previous cluster of reticulated cerussite (it still retains a core of unchanged cerussite). Ex. Sussman Collection.
9 x 7 x 4 cm. This piece consists of a pristine, glistening druse of light green smithsonite that has completely cast over and then survived the original azurite. Ex. Sussman and Jim Ferguson Collections.
4.6 x 2.9 x 1.8 cm. Fine, well-developed Mimetites abundantly covering the slightly cobaltoan Dolomite matrix. Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
4 x 3.6 x 3 cm. A fine miniature Tsumeb mimetite with yellow-orange mimetite crystals to over 2 cm. Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
4.4 x 2.8 x 1.7 cm. On top of radiating acicular groups of clear mimetite sits beautiful green, sub-mm sized crystals and spherical aggregates of bayldonite. Rare in crystallized form! Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
6.6 x 6.1 x 3 cm. The long slender needles of yellow-orange mimetite are beautifully sprinkled with green duftite crystals (according to Clive Queit, who sold this in 1993). This specimen is sharp, aesthetic, and a wonderful combination piece. Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
5 x 3.25 x 2.5 cm. This is a fine, lemon-yellow, glistening specimen of mimetite. The mimetite coated and formed a thick cast over now-vanished blocky crystals of Anglesite (or possibly of unusual cerussite). Ex. Willy Israel Collection.
14.8 x 10.8 x 7.4 cm. A carpet of elongated crystals of yellow mimetite have been pseudomorphed by fellow lead-mineral plumbogummite -- PbAl3(PO4)2(OH)5•(H2O). There are a few little dings which allow you to see how a thick layer of the pea-colored plumbogummite has formed around the bright yellow, translucent crystals of mimetite.
