This is a very sharp, 1.2 cm, doubly-terminated Mimetite perched perfectly on just the right amount of matrix. The luster and color are both very good, and the crystal is fairly gemmy. If you ever wanted a representative specimen from the famous ‘Gem Pocket’ of the early 70’s, this is your chance. They do not come available very often!

Campyllite is a variety of Mimetite, and these lustrous, well-formed crystals are exceptional for this mineral. Their luster, color, and habit are well above what you normally find, even from this classic locality. Moreover, this piece has such unique aesthetics, with the ball of lustrous crystals atop a quartz crystal itself covered with micro-mimetite druse, that it is an excellent specimen - that just happens to be also a killer thumbnail.

This is mostly a mimetite specimen, and as such is among the largest one we got out of the find, with rolling botryoidal green velvety carpets on 3-dimensional matrix, dusted with sharp bipyramidal wulfenites for contrast. Dramatic piece, and an excellent mimetite!

Extremely unusual blocky crystals to 8mm, unusual for wulfenite from this mine and from most other localities...but especially inthis pocket, so radically different from the others. Very aesthetic, as well, due to the contrasting mimetite!

I was able to break up one large specimen with the rare green mimetite (that really looks more like arsendescloizite but XRAY says it is just weird mimetite), to yield a few more displayable miniatures. This was the rarest in the find and the combination i think is completely and totally unique as well as beautiful, compared to anything else out there for the species. This is a very dramatic piece with sharp pointy wulfenites to almost 1 cm on rolling hillocks of mimetite. One wulfenite crystal only has a minute tip ding (hard to see in any case - lower-left photo), the rest are pristine.

This is a beautiful mimetite, with a lateral vein of sharp wulfenites running across it. They are good quality, but don't stick out much vertically (hence the slightly lower price than it might look to command), making it a relative bargain for a good sized example of the rare association.

This was the rarest style in the find and the combination i think is completely and totally unique as well as beautiful, compared to anything else out there for the species. This is a large plate of rolling matrix covered with green mimetite, itself liberally covered with sharp, spiky, wulfenite crystals averaging 6 mm or so. The richness of color is beautiful. There is very minor damage, but not much given the size and its on the periphery.

This special piece has sharp bipyramidal wulfenite crystals to 1 cm perched on a matrix of rolling carpet of green , velvety, MIMETITE. The color of the mimetite is the DARKEST GREEN I have ever seen in the species and I would have sworn was arsendescloizite - but lab tests done quickly at the University of Arizona show this to be in fact mimetite of a unique hue. The wulfenite has a more orange hue , when associated with the mimetite, than other wulfenites from the main portion of the pocket. Only about 20 pieces out of 400 found had ANY association with the mimetite in quality. Of them, this is one of the two best specimens. My guess, personally, is that no more will be found. In any case, its an incredible display piece as well as significant for both species and locality. Out of every specimen in the lot, if I had to pickj one single piece, price aside, it might be this one for its shocking novelty. You would think it to be mimetite on something rare, from Tsumeb...
